jorgeopesi Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 A small tatra 8x8 project. I have only first and second drive and steer axles with suspension thanks to 4 rubber connectors, definitely my favorite Lego piece . My daughter woke up... . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wL6Clgn55l8&feature=youtu.be Quote
Doc_Brown Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 That is sweet! I have never seen such a small tatra before. Keep at it! Quote

jorgeopesi Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 You should check out this one! http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=79351 I already made two comments in that post, I don´t intend to do so small but thanks anyway, I love heavy machinery and Tatra trucks . Quote
Zerobricks Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 All looks good, BUT the steering links are way too angled, the wheels will steer the first obstacle they meet. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 A small price to pay for a perfect steering geometry, I have seen very few Tatra MOCs that don´t move the suspension and steering at the same time to be very difficult to isolate from one another, I try to get this on all my Tatras, none of them change the steering angle of the wheels when the suspension works. Tamas Juhasz Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 (edited) Sounds interesting, I'm corious about the final model. Nice narrow suspension, this is proportional for the real one. (but one thing: don't use SO BIG pictures. It takes hours to download, absolutely doesn't necessary that resolution) Edited May 14, 2013 by Mbmc Quote
jorgeopesi Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 Another video, for the steering I will use the small linear actuator with a small motor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYWhMZiiTjI&feature=youtu.be Quote
Nazgarot Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I like the progress, and it seems very compact. I think this is going to be a great MOC. I do however agree with Zblj, those steering links are likely to cause problems... I also seems you have some gears skipping, but i guess you are going to sort that out. May i suggest that you use double gears to the axles? If you add a 12 tooth gear (where you now are using half bushes) along with the 20 tooth gears you will get a much stronger transfer of power, as well as less problems with gears skipping. -ED- Quote
jorgeopesi Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 The problem with the links is difficult to repair, the truck is 11 studs between the wheels and each link is 6 studs... the only possible position is the first in the picture for the wheels are perfectly aligned when the suspension works. Of course the skipping gears will be repaired. I don´t undestand you the last part, I'm using this technique and I don´t see where you can improve it. Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 You can strengthen the 20 tooth bevel gears by adding a small 12 tooth one in front of it. (credit goes to effe) http://www.flickr.com/photos/57623735@N08/8726731846/ Quote
jorgeopesi Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 You can strengthen the 20 tooth bevel gears by adding a small 12 tooth one in front of it. (credit goes to effe) http://www.flickr.co...N08/8726731846/ No I can´t do that... look at the picture and think about it, (credit go to me ), work in small places makes you think a lot. Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 oh...it would turn the black 12 tooth gear. Quote
Doc_Brown Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 No I can´t do that... look at the picture and think about it, (credit go to me ), work in small places makes you think a lot. Yes credit goes to you! that is a great design. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 More little changes , may be too fast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9OXxpRgGGE&feature=youtu.be Quote
andythenorth Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 (edited) Too fast? Use the proportional speed controller (train remote) The photo of the small turntable between steering axles showed me how to solve a similar problem I have. Thanks. Edited May 18, 2013 by andythenorth Quote
jorgeopesi Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 The small turntable is a good solution to eliminate pressure from the drive shaft, it was the first thing I thought when they went on sale these parts. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 I thought it was 8x8... You are right, the 10x10 was too easy and big I preffer to continue with the 8x8. Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 The cab looks great! How are you going to cover up the back? Quote
timslegos Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I love the cab design, but I think it would look better in a more flashy color than black . tim Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I love the cab design, but I think it would look better in a more flashy color than black . Grey? Quote
jorgeopesi Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 I try with red too... anyway the cab isn´t finished yet, I think it has to be 1 or 2 studs longer. The back will be grey with 8110 panels and will have red or black connectors. Quote
