DarthSion Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Anyone else watch this, the new series has started, bit of a bombshell with stig, but i think its a stunt. I wouldnt if i were you. The Stig shows himself, its Michael Schumacher Quote
LegoFranks Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Do you seriously think Ferrari would have let anyone else drive that FXX?! It was a joke, pure and simple... M. Quote
Freddie Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Oh yeah, I watch it. I've been watching it ever since they aired the first programme featuring the Zonda. As for The Stig, you know they'll play with it and confuse everybody. They'll never intentionally reveal who it is, as a part of The Stig's role in the series is to provide a neutral viewpoint of the cars' performance, which can't be done if we knew who he was. The first programme in this new series was excellent as ever, starting out with a classic race, then a classic review, and then back to the classic race. Professional people will probably notice the budget cuts, but I sure didn't, and that's a good thing. Quote
prateek Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Do you seriously think Ferrari would have let anyone else drive that FXX?! It was a joke, pure and simple...M. i know. and by the way, is it on youtube yet? Quote
rriggs Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 It was a stunt. A great stunt but a stunt nonetheless: 1. Schumacher does not have time to do all of the tests that the Stig does. 2. He was clearly there to drive the FXX. If Ferarri are picky about how the owners are allowed to use them they ain't gonna let non-Ferarri test drivers near them. 3. He did not behave like the Stig. His walk was wrong, he didn't sit right and his race suit did not fit. Made good telly for a Sunday night. Don't think it will age very well as an endless repeat on Dave....... Cheers Rog Quote
DarthSion Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 Just some other things. 1. MS was credited as the guest, BTW the celeb in a reasonably priced car was gold, that poor camera man must have had to change his underwear. 2. MS finished racing after the 2006 season. 3. White Stig started in season 3 2003. 4. The wouldn't have a non UK driving do it. Quote
prateek Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 that episode was messed up. i feel sorry for richard hammond Quote
rriggs Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 that episode was messed up. i feel sorry for richard hammond Do what? Care to elaborate? Cheers Rog Quote
DarthSion Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 Do what? Care to elaborate?Cheers Rog I assume he means about hamster being stuck on that slow old bike and him clearly being in allot of pain, the race was kind of boring, none of the usual drama, first time i dont remember Clarkson saying, "how hard can it be". Although he had a good line there, about James coming up from the rear and taking him, then going through the tunnel to Jazza Anyone else notice the cute chick with the really bad black eye when MS walked in. 5150 Lego Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I watch. Good show. Here in the states, we get the new season a few onths after everyone else. Good, humor, and there stunts/challengesare great. To bad there not respected by the rest of the automotive world. Quote
DarthSion Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 I hear the others arent so good, the Russian one is not likely to be renewed, and the Aussie one is rubbish. Quote

5150 Lego Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Nothing going to be a s good as the original. Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hamond make that show what it is. No one else that i could think of could replace them. They planned to do a U.S. show, but that got axed early this yr. Quote
Modulex Guy Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I LOVE Top Gear!!! I've watched every single episode of Top Gear plus some of the other TV specials by the Top Gear guys. A good one is "James May's Favorite Toys" <---He talks about LEGO in this film!!!!! Quote
Rijkvv Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I think the Stig was a joke indeed. The Stig was discovered some months ago, wasn't he? However, it could be possible there are some different drivers, who play The Stig in turns. We may never discover the truth. Some say, he pisses petrol. Or he comes from Mars. All we know is, he's called the Stig! Quote
DarthSion Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Meh this week was boring, and those jail bait girls in the hand break thing was annoying. For the most part its good, the star in a reasonably priced car is the only thing i don't like, mostly because their brits and not known outside the UK. No idea who this weeks was. I will say i do find it funny how season one was well lets say lower class blokes in the crowd, now its mostly barely legal chicks, always seems to be a few good looking chicks, who knew there were good looking women in the UK. Wish the seasons were longer, or on a TV channel that isn't povo so we could see it in HD. Quote
AwesomeStar Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 They constantly change the driver, especially if its a specialized stunt - for example the snowmobile one done a couple of years back, they brought in a snowmobile driver, as you cant expect an untrained driver to pull that off! Also, there is apparently a clause in the Stig's contract that should he publicly reveal himself he will be fired. This happened with the black-suited Stig at the start of Top Gear, who was played by Perry McCarthy. McCarthy also played White Stig for a while, but was again dropped. So really, there is no one driver. ~A.S. Quote

DarthSion Posted July 3, 2009 Author Posted July 3, 2009 I thought they had more than one Stig, its just something we will never know, or until they get axed, or retire. Yeah hamster and Clarkson with the super glue was good, and Clarkson trying to get out of the camping thing, and stabbing his water bed thing. Quote

I think it depends on who the guest is, I like Stephen fry (watch QI ) so I enjoyed that part of the program. @ darthsion you might like 'carpool' by Robert Llewellyn (Kryten from red dwarf) its him and a guest driving around a car and chatting, it has a couple of dwarf alums in it as well: http://www.llewtube.com/ Quote
DarthSion Posted July 3, 2009 Author Posted July 3, 2009 Well i have known some of them, but the ones i do are, better not say that, but that guy from X-factor and the USA pop idol, and Gordon Ramsay, still cant believe he isnt American, and Mark Wahlberg, oh and Simon Pegg and Obi Wan Kanobi. DarthSion Posted July 8, 2009 Author Posted July 8, 2009 Not a bad episode this week, at least the guest was funny, even though never heard of him. Quote
AwesomeStar Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Michael McIntyre? He's hilarious, my favorite comedian, ever! He's just so great... ~A.S. Quote
DarthSion Posted July 10, 2009 Author Posted July 10, 2009 How awesome was the noise that rally car made, and how cool was it they jumped that dirt jump and the bike car and plane all went by at the same time. Quote

I loved that part. When I get a car, I'm going to try that in a big parking lot when no one is there. Quote
