After having spent the last year building various elements for the Port of Brick Royal and planning the foundation design, I finally got motivated enough to build the base foundation so I can start bringing it into reality. The port foundation is 12' x 12' with one large elevated section. I have placed a number of previous MOC's for the fort onto the foundation but they are not remotely close to being in there final positions. This will be the first of many many many updates to this project.

*Falls over*

Wow, this is amazing, I could only wish I had an entire cellar/garage to devote to my LEGO.

And your buildings and fort look astonishing as well, much fun and luck with your mega-project!

Do not forget to update this once in a while :pir-wink: .

Looks great Jeff! Although I'm a little sceptic about the CC/GG style buildings in a Pirate port... :pir-sceptic:

I really look forward to seeing this project through. We'll have to get the odd update via 'Behind The Helm' eh? :pir-classic:

My jaw is on the floor.

Are you married, what does your wife think of her car sitting outside.

You sir are dedicated, and I cannot wait to see the end result of this!!

Commodore, I really look forward to seeing more of this project. I understand it's a massive undertaking from your side so please describe what you have in mind: large/small port, what of scenery/trees/volcano/rest of island/land, town wall or not? I.e, what have you planned?

Also, if you have please update your post with some close-up pictures of the fort. Thanks for sharing this with the rest of us!

That is impressive! What an enormous layout. I can't wait to see those large space filled with highly detailed buildings!

Just watch out you don't built your crates with LEGO in the layout. :pir_laugh2:

An awesome project Commodore! I think even my ship can sail there safely without coming in range of the fort's cannons. :pir-laugh:

That is looking really cool so far!

I like your own MOCs best.

I would almost like to encourage you to break down your MODs and design a MOC yourself. :pir-classic:

I will be checking your progress.

Kind regards,

Teddy

Thanks everyone. It was a real pain just building the darn things...mostly getting the material to the house as I drive a Prius :pir_laugh2:

Yeah more and more I think the CC buildings won't survive in the final version but for now they are occupying a necessary space to help me understand the scale of what I am trying to do and the relationships that exist between elements and structures. They also serve as a great source of inspiration to draw from to eventually build their replacements.

Updates are always available :pir_laugh2:

Yes and I have two daughters. I'd have to say mixed :pir_laugh2: On the one hand it keeps the Lego from building up in the house. On the other no parking in the garage. It works out. I support her in her interests and she in mine.

Well that is a hard question to answer at the momement. The won't be a whole lot of nature and wide open spaces in what I am working on now. Mostly cliffs, bluffs, beaches and estuary. As you can see I have an even bigger vision than the Port of Brick Royal that I call Brickmacia (it would be 24'x16'). The red box is what I am focused on right now. One day the rest of the island will come to life as well...I hope. The second image gives you some idea of what I am thinking the layout will look like (obviously some things have changes like the fort is much larger).

I'll have to take some more close ups of Monck in the next day or so. It's still a long way from finished.

I don't think it will take much encouragement but you fantastic buildings have provided much inspiration :pir_laugh2:

And i thought you were working on a fleet? :pir_laugh2:

This looks again promising, did you make the elevation to a certain height of bricks?

You know how I like a lot of diversity with what I am working on :pir_laugh2: I ment to have the ships on the table too but I forgot and they are sitting just out of sight.

I wrestled with that idea for a while then figured the difference could really only be smaller than a plates width and I could never hope to be that acurate with the cutting and building of wood anyway. Also one of the struggles I am thinking on now is the fact that there are four individual tables (an 8'x8' table, two 4'x8' tables and one 4'x4' table. They all have there own wheeles and they need to be able to move so I can reach and work on various areas. This means that the tables can not be connected by Lego...they'll just have to look connected. It is going to make the major cliffs around the fort a real challenge I think and I am also thinking I went about six inches to high on the fort. Right now what I really need is a ton of blue and grey base plates.

Thanks a lot for the layout/plan, exactly what I was asking for :) Oh, to dream... I really wish for lots of pics and updates, it's a lot of inspiration and fun to see all the great projects everyone keeps embarking upon. I wish you good luck with Port of Brick Royal and the rest of the island.

Wow! Very nice.. CLEAN garage. I currently live with my grandparents.. And the garage is a TOTAL disaster.. I asked if I can have a spot in the middle for a LEGO town, Pirate or modern.. And they said sure! might be a year.. or 2.. or 5.. who knows? :P Probably a tortuga or Port Royal, Either one.. But its looking good! Cant wait to see it finished!
