Thank you very much for sharing this! So probably this new train won't be an exclusive according to its presentation, am I right?

I am interested in more scans from the catalog, but I am sure there is a demand for each and every page as everyone has different preferences, so I suggest instead of waiting for request for individual pages you should scan the whole catalog page by page as you have time, I assure you will please a lot of people with every new scan shared!

here:

...

notable things include the truck transport car and hopper loader structure are cut from the catalog image, 7939 is also still there, and the main diorama is the same one from last year.

more scans of the catalog will be provided on request.

The green star means a single retailer will sell it in Australia. I'm not sure if this means anything for the rest of the world or not though since Australia is a unique case in some ways. It doesn't appear that it will be a Lego store exclusive though.

I'm not sure wheter i will buy it or not.....i'm also not very fond of the cars.... And the engine is also not 100% for me. To be honest, it seems me to be difficult for TLG to sell a train which is more beautifull than the Maersk...and we should not compare the 3677 set with the Maersktrain. And though i know i should not do it... i do compare and then the 3677 isn't thát nice... but maybe, when the price is not that high..i will buy it..

At www.brickshop.nl (Holland) it seems to be available already (search for 3677)..yesterday there were 5 of them in stock..now 4 left... is this right..do they haveit already...they were also the first with a Maersk-train...so it wouldn't surprise me...anyone explain???

Maybe in that picture the worker is removing the Flexitrack for the junkyard!

Haha....that made me laugh...!!!

Hi everyone, my first post in a long time :classic: (I had my exams and passed :cry_happy: )

Anyway thanks for all the news, I really look forward to this set. FOr a larger pic of the box see

http://www.brickshop.nl/lego/treinen-rc/lego-3677-vrachtrein-trein-set.html

It seems we don't get switches, for me that's not bad since I already had enough of those. However the price is the same as 7939, but this can be the result of the shop itself, making the price higher since they are currently the only retailer in my country that sells them (I believe they did the same with some other sets). So the price might lower a bit.

Thanks to Legosjaak for the site

It seems i can order a set at Brickshop.nl that is strange......it will come out in August..... but at Eur 170,- it is too expensive for me!! I will wait untill prices drop...or buy only the engine separately on a second hand marketplace....

Looking at the above mentioned website then, the recommended price is virtually the same as the current Cargo train set

Considering the Cargo set has so many features (articulated lorry, gantry crane, containers, cars etc) I would hope then that the new set contains plenty of track like the cargo train because otherwise it would be very poor value

Why is this the same price as the other cargo train, I don't understand.....no switching track, no big semi-trailer.....what special expensive parts ? :look:

I did a conversion to Aussie dollars - around 230 bucks.....does this have more than the passenger train set ? :look:

Although I will probably will eventually get this set, I feel TLG really dropped the ball when releasing this set. With 7939 just around a year old there was no reason for another cargo train. I wish they would have put more thought into the next "train" set and released a large scale train shed/cargo depot of some sort, a combination of 4555 and 10027. Maybe that's on the table for next year under the Creator theme...

Thank you very much for these (links to these) pictures, BrickStorm and Brickviller! :classic:

The train looks really cool!

But for that there are less contents included than in the previous Cargo Train and for that there are nearly no tools (for the railroad workers to repair the tracks) included, this set is only marginally cheaper than the previous Cargo Train - so much too expensive!

And so I even will better save some money for next year and hope that TLG will offer us a huge train station (and not only that a small train stop like last year) and/or some sort of new Cargo Center - which are really, really overdue!

Btw:

1. Yesterday I went to one of my local toy shops and took a customer's catalogue home - there is neither this train nor the Public Transport Center included. So we got wrong information from TLG about that it will replace last year's Cargo Train.

2. I wonder how people who buy this set and want to integrate the rechargeable battery want to do that: The new battery box is red - so these people had to (let) print big red stickers to put it on the rechargeable battery.

I'm very curious about this set. Many of you-- Tiger, Klaus, others-- know me and my taste in sets from the various City threads, and the fact of the matter is that I do not own a train but very much want to integrate one into my burgeoning city layout. I like the idea of having an industrial sector, where the train might line up just behind the Harbour or something to that effect, but at the same rate I already own the Train Station and like the idea of a commuter train that would run through the city as well. And I will not commit to two for financial purposes.

So which of the three would you recommend for a first time train builder: this set (3677), the Passenger Train (7938), or the Cargo Train (7939)?

My opinion, Mr. Elijah Timms:

For sure the Cargo Train (7939) - it includes the most playability and in my eyes (although it's really expensive) the best price-ratio performance of all these three - although I have to say that "cheap" is far away from these prices.

130 Euros!?! That's $180 roughly in US dollars.

That's the same price for the current cargo train. :sceptic:

It's probably a matter of supply and demand of this set on that website.

Hopefully in August the 'true' prices will show and be significantly cheaper than the current cargo train.

At least we get straight track will it and not just flex track.

Agreed! it's definitely the better value out of all of those sets.

Have you seen it advertised for only 130 Euros? The Brickshop.nl site has it up for 170 Euros so I think I will wait a few months for it to be discounted. I think it will end up being reduced because it will appear such poor value compared to the current cargo set which contains so much more

Found this youtube video. Guy already has the train and it does come with track and PF controller.

So they are already selling it?

It's for me that time of the year again :classic: The train is indeed not better than the last one, but it's nice to have another cargo train to compliment the other ones

Oops, that's my mistake 'tbroyd' I looked at the wrong price when I was converting to USD.

Still at $243 I can almost but 2 of the current PF train sets.

I expecting the price to be between the passenger train and cargo train prices hopfully.

I hope to pick up 7939 before this one though.
