If you look closely at the first page of Friend's sets a picture of how one of these new figures go together.....YES, the hair is seperate. Also we can almost all agree that the Dad in the house set has standard minifig male hair.....actually quite realistic - bad hair piece or thinning hair (that's my problem - losing it on top ! :cry_sad::laugh: )

At first glance I assumed these figs would be slightly larger than minifig scale, but if, like you point out, the man's hair is the standard minifg size hairpiece, then that would make these figs a similar scale would it not?

If so the hairpieces could make for fun anime style massive hair on a regular minifig. So what do we call these? friend figs?

the figs themselves are about a brick height taller than a normal minifig. on account of the longer legs. Personally I think the head is larger than a minifig head and all the hairpieces are newly created for this theme.

If you look into HERE carefully, you could find some reasonably big and clear box pictures for 2012 sets for City, Dino, Ninjago and Technic.

Actually, the Friends figs are about a plate taller than regular figs. Additionally, one of the Friends sets uses a regular minifig head with a new hairpiece as a mannequin. So I think it's pretty much confirmed that Friends hair would work on minifigs and vice-versa (except for some of the longer hair, which may or may not interfere with minifig shoulders).

And Alywin, I checked the site. Good pictures indeed, although unfortunately all I'm seeing is police and fire (no pics of some of the miscellaneous vehicles).

I hafta say, I'm sort of interested in the Friends line, IF the hair proves workable.

Proper curly hair is something that just doesn't exist, which is no good when you're trying to convince the wife LEGO is good by making a minifig of her.... which has the wrong hair style. Some of these haircuts look right on the money, if they fit. I think the hot tub might be a lock, because it's got hair that looks almost perfect, and is a small set that's pretty painlessly folded into a standard LEGO collection.

I remain... hopeful.

Thanks for the link 'Alywin', only the forest fire and police sets....no vehicle sets yet listed (dam it)...available mid-December eh ?

Well, then we might see some reviews before the year is out.

Toys R Us and LEGO Stores in the U.S. should start receiving them in early November.

I have to agree with Lyichir there - it doesn't look like much more than a plate (maybe a plate and a half) from the top of the alien minifig's head to the top of the Friends minifig head. Remember, the Friends fig is wearing a hairpiece, and that alien head even looks a bit smaller than a regular minifig head.

Our favorite minifig is only 5/6 the height of the new Friend's - measured it off the screen.

I suppose we'll have to wait until we see the first review of a Friend's set eh ?

LEGO SKYSCRAPERS!

:hmpf:

I'm assuming you mean the height difference between minifig's and the new minidoll's right ? :look:

Now keeping on the city topic, has anyone worked out how the tipper tray on that truck is assembled yet.....it appears perhaps new parts are being used ? :look:

More finalized box shot of the police & fire sets. It's from the same source as the sw sets.

Note set 4438 is new to us.

WOW-- 4438 IS REALLY COOL!!! A little cabin/shack in the woods where the crooks are hiding out with their roadster parked out front. Unbeknownst to them, the forest police are on their trail in their 4x4 truck and 3-wheeled ATV, not to mention the ginormous bear whose sleep has been disturbed by all the ruckus! LOVE THIS SET, perhaps the best of the Forest Police line!!!!

Also looks like we have a definitive look at the figs (forgive me Aanchir if I don't have the exact color names right):

Police is a medium tan with blue pants, and a light tan 'trooper' brimmed hat.

Fire is an orange jumpsuit with a maroon fireman's hat.

Also, the fire plane pilot seems to be wearing a new torso, red with stripes and navy legs with the white helmet. Unfortunately we don't get to see a glimpse of the police copter's crew.

Fire plane with jeep looks like Wrangler is good, but water dropping from a plane is weird, 4x4 fire truck bottom left on the photo isn't not very good for forest fire, my MOC is more realistic.

4438 hot rod roadster is VERY GOOOOOOOD.

4438 looks great! A nice cabin (finally a civilian building), two well designed vehicles and a trike, and it includes the bear!

Definitely the 'winner' of the 2012 City line in my book.

Yeah I also agree the Cabin is the best City set in 2012 seen so far.

It is pretty well built, I really like the use of the classic window. It has a nice brickbuilt hill and some trees.

And to top it all off it has the new bear!! Now I don't need to buy the Station which I wasn't a huge fan.

I agree....4438 is a total WINNER and might be the best selling set next year, cool shack and even cooler ride....sweet hot rod ! :excited:

Dam, I wasn't going to buy more than the new police car, but my arm I might twist myself ! :iamded_lol:

The pick up in 4437 is also a mighty cool ride.....mega red-neck stuff.....moonshine anyone.....can't wait for people to start MOCing stills and a lot of drunk minifigs ! :drunk::iamded_lol:

Roll on 2012 I say ! :excited:

Yay for 4438! Saved this line for me! I like it, and I'd remembered hearing something about a crook's hideout earlier... was disappointed when I didn't see one. Plus, a cheaper way to get a bear!

4438 is a really cool set, and might be the only one from the forest police that I would buy, although 4437 looks good too. I'm all about the civilian stuff, I figure if I buy the civilian sets I'll get enough tag-along policemen anyways to populate my city, and it might not have a police station until we see a police station modular in the future, but I'm ok with that. The 4438 will look awesome alongside the 6552 Rocky River Retreat. The rest of the forest police line looks pretty awesomely good though, it's certainly growing on me.

In my opinion city need to lay off the police.

It really isnt an appealing place to visit with all this crime.

Well, Police is a long-standing staple of LEGO City. Personally, I like the recent trend of having crooks in most police sets so they have crimes to fight. Looking at older LEGO Town sets, sometimes there weren't any crooks except in the jail of the police station sets.

All in all, I get the opposite impression from the number of Police sets-- that LEGO City is a safe place to be, where crime happens but is taken care of swiftly.

And besides, kids want exciting things to act out. Firefighters and police officers are extremely exciting at that age-- much more than a "Starbucks" or "Corporate Office Building" set would be. Real-world cities can be quite mundane to a kid who doesn't understand their economic, social, and cultural significance.
