JimBee Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 "I think we'd need to have a Topaz for this job... hehe perhaps Ad-hoh would've been able to charge the cannon up. Or he could try casting a different spell on it... I think we should move on though."
The_Customizer Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Let's just continue on, this quest has taken quite a while, and the fleet may be leaving soon! Let's hurry this up.
Khorne Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 "So, any preferred choices where to go? Upstairs or shall we look into the guarded door?"
Fred Fred Burger Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I second that, unless you guys really feel like trying to figure out the canon.
Khorne Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 "Okay then, we'll head upstairs. We can still come back down later, if we have the time left to do so."
The_Customizer Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Yeah, I have a feeling Jolly will be upstairs, slightly safer up there you know. Though we do still have to find the captain's brother.
ADHO15 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 OOC: Sorry for my absence. It's been a busy few weeks. "I agree that Jolly Roger will probably be upstairs, but we seem to be close to the jail where the captain's brother is likely being held. Rescuing him first might give us an extra ally for battling the rest of these pirates."
Sandy Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 The party ascends the wooden staircase they found earlier and arrive on the second floor of the complex. They find themselves at a long corridor with several doors on it. Directly in front of them is a particularly large door which seems to be locked with an extravagant contraption unlike anything the party has ever seen. Maybe it is the way to Jolly Roger? With no enemies in sight, the party simply has to decide which way they will continue. OoC: Sorry for the continuous delays, we should be able to continue without interruptions from here on out. Oh, and the brown blob in the picture is supposed to be the end of the staircase.
JimBee Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Hybros attempts to pick the lock on the door in front of them.
The_Customizer Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Hmm, I say we either knock on the door to see who is in there, or we go to the left.
Sandy Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 Upon seeing the large door closer, Hybros does not know where to even begin picking the weird contraption. Erdathcath tries banging the metal structure, but only ends up hurting her hand. What does the party want to do next?
JimBee Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Yup, definitely need a boss key. "Heheh... looks like we need to put in a combination of some sort, out of letters of the alphabet. I've no idea where to begin, maybe we'll find the combo somewhere else, eheh..." Hybros was reminded of the combination lock he and Eric encountered on their first quest, at the Shadeaux warehouses. He wondered if the combination could be solved in the same way.
The_Customizer Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 It seems like there are 26 characters per row, with 4 rows, meaning, if my calculations are right, there are only 456,796 possiblities. (Though I may be off by a bit,) And if it takes about 5 seconds to try each combo, it should only take 2,284,880 Seconds OR, 38,081.20 Minutes, OR 634.01 Hours. Meaning, we have to just search around until we find the code, as it would take days to figure out the combo. It also seems that they are letters in the Alphabet, meaning it has to be a 4 letter word, acronym, or something along those lines. What do you guys think?
JimBee Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Hybros stares at the elf. What was she talking about? Of course they needed to find the combination, they didn't have time to sit there for weeks and try every one. "I think we should go through one of those doors adjacent to the stairwell, go behind the stairs. Either way we should get moving somewhere."
Sandy Posted January 8, 2012 Author Posted January 8, 2012 The party decides to turn left, and upon passing by a door they peek in. Inside they see a crate, another group of six pirates and a staircase leading further up. If the party enters the room, the pirates will surely see them and attack.
ADHO15 Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I feel that we might as well investigate all our options before chosing the best direction in which to travel.
The_Customizer Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I was just making a suggestion...... Well, shall we kill these pirates, and open the chest? We may find the combo code in it. Or on the pirates.
JimBee Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 "Well there is another floor... I feel that we should explore the two we have more fully before adding another layer of confusion. Let's check the one at the end of the hall."
Sandy Posted January 8, 2012 Author Posted January 8, 2012 On the other end of the hall the party finds a dormitory. Inside it they see a group of familiar faces: the pirate maid from the kitchen along with all the pirates the party gave rum to have taken refuge inside the room.
JimBee Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 "Hehehe... so it looks like all of our toughest enemies we sent away are here... I don't think we want to fight them, but it looks like if we really needed to we could maybe rest in those beds. Let's go check the room on the other side of the staircase we came from." OoC: Since half of our party is gone, I hope it's okay that we're just speeding things along. If you guys want to stop and do something we can always go back.
Sandy Posted January 8, 2012 Author Posted January 8, 2012 The party decides to turn around and sneak to the other end of the long corridor. There's a locked door with a complex bronze lock on it on the other end. The room to their right contains some sort of laboratory with five scientists working on machines. Each of them sports the same trident emblem on their clothing that the party saw in the crates downstairs. The scientists are too busy to even notice the party, but they do not seem to be armed.
JimBee Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 "Let's talk to them, they probably know something that can help us," Hybros whispers to the party.
ADHO15 Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 "Good idea, Hybros. If they are noncompliant, I am sure we will be able to deal with them easily enough."
