Morgan19 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Someone had linked to a Brickshelf gallery on page 3 with what sounded like more pictures, but I just get a "not found" error with the link. Is there another gallery somewhere that has those images, or were they just the same ones as page 1's post? m19 Quote
pietje Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=222717 ;-) no new pics, its a gallery with the al the pics of the new sets Quote
Hobbes Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Oh come on! At this rate there's no secrets left for the last bit of '07! I might as well reveal that 7996 is a new piece of (RC-)track previously unseen in the history of Lego trains. Oddly, the cross-track is not making a return this year (but then again, I don't recall there being any 7995, cross your fingers). 7996 is due august, if I remember correctly. Oh come on! There ain't pics yet, and it's not the first time we've known stuff (long) before. ;-) 7998 is 7900's successor by the way. 8-wide and very long, altough this time it's a regular truck with a seperate, self-supported trailer. The latter featuring steering too, if I remember correctly. Expect prices slightly higher than 7900. Trailer truck - good. 8wide - well... unfortunate, but not unexpected. I just don't see the need since the containers are 6wide only... oh well... Edit; A switchover-crossing I think it's called. Basically two switches integrated into a single piece, with the adjacent tracks crossing in the middle, altough you'll need both pieces in the box for it to function the way it's intended. 8-studs between parallell tracks, will allow very flexible layouts at a low cost, and will work nicely with the train shed. Dimensions; 64x24 studs fully operational (est). Like that? Too bad they never did it for 9V. Fortunately I was able to get me a few darn good mods by Ondrew Hartigan... Quote
phoinix Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 so im guessing this cargo hauler might look a bit something like this only a lot bigger and 8 studs wide...hmmm not too bad....but i dont really see me getting anything this big... Quote
DoubleT Posted January 4, 2007 Author Posted January 4, 2007 Guess What new pics of the Mobile Crane and Tank Station are now onilne.. Plus... a new Train Station, Rails and a big truck Quote
Hobbes Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Thanks TT! The truck looks great, it's just too wide (which can be remedied) and the "cargo hold" looks like one piece :-( The train station is more a platform than an entire station. You'd need at least 4 to have a decent station. But it looks like a decent addition to 4554: two on each side of it and 3 as an additional platform would make a station where even the entire Santa Fe could stop ;-) The track is great, just not useful for a "real" train (i.e. 9V) ;-) Seems like City's coming to real life again *y* Quote
highlandcattle Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 New trainstation looks "the bomb". I'm getting it! I'm so glad I didn't buy the current station! The rest looks meh:Why the track is useless for me, and the truck is once again waaaay to big. And what's up with no females@ the station. Lego must quit this femalephobic trip! Quote
Darthking623 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 SO TOTALLY OWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tHE ONES I LIKE THE MOST ARE THE STATION THE NEW TRACK AND THE TRUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
catch-22 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I don't like the one piece boxes on the dump truck, the other new city vehicles look better to me. Still, it is an improvement over the last few lines of city vehicles. The new train station looks pretty nice, I still prefer the older classic stations, but it's a good step in the right direction. That new track is great, too bad they can't make it in 9V. Quote
skinkfem Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 il probably have to reevaluate my stance on not getting any of the rc trains that new track is amazing. i like the new train station as well, this one looks like it could also serve as a gods/postal station so dome of the cargotrains could stop before it and dont feel out of place, something that has been lacking in recent years. i wonder if my local toystores will bother getting any of the new track-packs, the 9v track hasnt been around these parts for several years now. well anyway thanks for posting the pics, much appreciated. alex54 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Woa! I like the train station so much! A really nice one. It looks like a small station in a small french city. I find it better than the grand central station. For Hobbes: This is not a modern one... And the cargo truck, good but too big. Why on heart 8 stunds wide? I will have some job to donwsize it... Can't wait to put my hand on all those city sets! X-D I will have some work for my 2007 city layout (that I have already begun...) Quote
snefroe Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 the green truck seems like the best set to me. unfortunately, it probably has two fairly large one piece molds, making it kinda ... too simple? the green color is nice nice though... the train station looks nice, but not really special... Quote
JopieK Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Hey guys (a LowLUG / Bouwsteen user), I really, really hate the fact that such a nice points are not electrified :-( Quote
Athos Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Train station looks great, if a bit too small. And I really don't need included track... I don't like the single piece dumper on the truck. That new switching piece looks interesting too. Steve Quote
Freddie Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Wow, that was unexpectedly fast! X-O I'm agreeing with just about everyone here. Just about all of this year's stuff is on this level of quality, and I'm maybe just one of those who will use alot of money on LEGO this year. With the exception of the hovercraft and the fireboat, I'll be getting myself one of everything from this year's CITY-collection. *sweet* (Plus quite a bit on some of the other stuff too) Quote
Hinckley Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 What's the emoticon for drooling? I have to say I am stunned with the change in quality of this year's sets. I haven't been this excited about the town line since I was a kid! I really love the new creator house and the train station. This is all great news!!!!! Quote
Hinckley Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 ;-) (Hobbes, You're always watching out for me. I appreciate that!) Hey everybody, this is how I feel about the new sets: Quote
oo7 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Wow. I'm seeing this as the best year for city. Ever. Finnaly some more great realistic touches, leaders/gutters and rear-veiw mirrors! Now we need doors on our cars and trucks. Although I thought Legomilk said that the train Station was going to be modern like the last 'World City' one, GCS (which looks absoulutley NOTHING like the real GCS (technically GCT)). Quote
phoinix Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 oh my!!! im so in love today!! first i see the creator house and now that amazing station!! absolutely love it!!! this year is going to cost A LOT!!! it seems that we are getting almost everything we wanted..!!! (quick question..can the 9v trains ran on RC track? is the track in the station RC?) Quote
catch-22 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Wow. I'm seeing this as the best year for city. Ever. Finnaly some more great realistic touches, leaders/gutters and rear-veiw mirrors! Now we need doors on our cars and trucks. I wouldn't go as far as saying this is the best year for city/town sets ever. Since the mid 90's juniorization started, definitely. Quote
Hobbes Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 (quick question..can the 9v trains ran on RC track? No, the motor picks up the power from the metal on the rails. RC track don't have the metal anymore. is the track in the station RC? Yes. Quote
phoinix Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 well i only have one train set but i hope i will afford to get the station (with all the great sets coming) im gonna have to find a way to get me 9v track...either from lego.com or a lego store... (but there is none of that in greece :-/ ) anyhow im really happy about these sets!!!my city will have a second golden age!!! Quote
birdie100 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I work at Legoland in the summer. If I can't sell those houses out every time we have a delivery of them, I will eat my proverbial Lego bricks. That house is wonderful. I can see parents buying that for their children... simply because they want to play with it. And trust me, it happens more than most will admit. If Lego can start offering such quality, it makes it a privilege once more to be selling their products most days of my summer holidays. These latest round of models shows what they are capable of. Now then, when do i get to sell my first one? Sometime around August... Still, the next move in my opinion for Lego, to start restoring the glory days, is to bring out a range of useful small car sets. They're going some way to addressing this, but you need to have a selection eg fire car/police car/ garbage truck/ etc. I bought many little car sets as the intro sets, and left the larger ones for Xmas presents etc. Lego would do very well to not only have the nice truck (in GREEN!!! - I remember my excitement like it was yesterday when the first green lego brick entered my hands in 1997!), but remember the pocket money sets too.
