Aanchir Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Green Hulk w/ a scientific brain????? LEGO, do you guys even read MARVEL comics? They obviously have to simplify things to make them concise and appealing. It'd take a lot longer to say "Sometimes he's super strong but kinda dumb, and that's good for the Avengers, but sometimes he's a scientist without super-strength, and that's pretty good too!" Keep in mind also that they're marketing the character, not just the product. So even if the product can't shift between being super-strong and being scientifically-minded, the character can, and as long as they don't imply that the product has a legitimate transforming function they can use both assets of the character for marketing. The Hulk was basically Bruce Banner in the Hulk's body for most of the nineties. He's only been the savage Hulk again for like, thirteen years. So it's not inconceivable to have a super smart Hulk. Apart from turning into the grey hulk at one point, he's been no different. The Professor which you linked to was in no way Bruce Banner/Hulk as he didn't transform. The Professor which you linked to was in no way Bruce Banner/Hulk as he didn't transform. Not to start a comic discussion, but he didn't transform because Bruce didn't want to. He liked being Bruce in the Hulk's body. But in the nineties, that was the Hulk. Professor Hulk is just Bruce Banner, the Grey Hulk, and the Savage Hulk all as one "person". So it is quite possible that TLG is basing their Hulk off of this version. Quote

Aethersprite Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 From FBTB - the Marvel sets will be available in April! Hopefully this affects the Ultrabuild sets as well. Quote

ZORK64 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Now THAT is The Hulk, completely with green shoulders and such. Iron Man's head looks a bit too large though. Quote
Jetrax99 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Now THAT is The Hulk, completely with green shoulders and such. Iron Man's head looks a bit too large though. Iron Man's helmet is large because it opens to reveal Tony's face underneath. Quote
ZORK64 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Iron Man's helmet is large because it opens to reveal Tony's face underneath. Ah, I thought so. I do wonder why they didn't add some sord of shoulder armour to make his body more bulky to fit with his helmet though. Quote
Jetrax99 Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Anyone else hoping for an Ultrabuild Superman? Quote
theheronetwork Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Anyone else hoping for an Ultrabuild Superman? I'm betting that we will get an Ultrabuild Superman. Unfortunately I don't think that we will be getting his cape. My guess would be that we get something like Batman's "cape". Maybe a red kryptonite shield . His head probably won't have any rubber on it, so it might kind of be like Green Lantern's. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Anyone else hoping for an Ultrabuild Superman? I'd like Superman, I think he is third wave material. I'd also like to see Catwoman and either Robin or a black Batman. If they would be willing to do it, I think that an Ultrabuild Doc-Ock could be interesting too, but it would probably have to be bigger than the normal canister size, since he does have six arms. (Actually, I think I'm going to try and make one on LDD...) Quote
Zarkan Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Alright, what is with TLC's bias against Hulk's purple pants? In the ultrabuild figure, they are blue, while in the minifigure, they are tan. You'd think with all the purple creeping into lego sets these days, they wouldn't be so hesitant to give Hulk his most iconic asthetic feature apart from his green skin. Quote
Cirkit Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 while in the minifigure, they are tan. Perhaps Bruce was wearing Khaki shorts at the time of his transformation? You'd think with all the purple creeping into lego sets these days, they wouldn't be so hesitant to give Hulk his most iconic asthetic feature apart from his green skin. I agree with this. Ultrabuild Hulk could have been given purple 'pants', seeing as the Joker had the right parts released to do so, and I see no reason why the minifigure shouldn't have purple pants. I wonder what was up with that? On a related note, I'd really like to know where Banner finds his shorts. I'd like to own a purple pair like that.. just not all ripped up and stuff. Quote
Aanchir Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I imagine the reason for the blue shorts could have easily been focus group testing. Unlike the Joker, who kids would have a hard time recognizing without his purple suit, I can easily see kids preferring the Hulk with non-purple pants, even if it is a classic attribute of his comic book depiction. It should also be noted that Joker only had 6M shells and 6M shoulder shells in purple, no 5M shells. Hulk already has his fair share of recolors, so it's possible that TLG's designers decided that the budget for the Marvel constraction figures was better spent on more essential recolors, like Hulk's giant fist pieces or Iron Man's various gold elements. Clone gunner comander jedi Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) The only one im going to get is the Iron Man one as thats the only one that doesnt look wierd. Edited January 29, 2012 by Clone gunner comander jedi Quote
surrideo Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Iron Man is probably the first one of these sets I would want to buy at full price, as I'm still waiting for Green Lantern and Batman to drop a few £s first. Captain America is good too and the boxes are recognisable as being of the same line as the DC universe Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 That box art is really nice, much better than DC's I think. I don't think I'll get any though. Maybe Hulk, but that would be because I still think he looks kind of funny. Quote
Mesonak Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I think it's pretty interesting that I think Iron Man is better than any Hero Factory set released in the summer except Core Hunter. Just personal preference, but still. Just love how he's built, bar the silver claw used as back armor. Would have preferred it in gold (even though I never got Nex 3.0 and haven't got Furno, so I don't have that shell in silver... so I can't call it a flaw...). Quote
Zwen Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I want to do some artwork with this concepts, I mean, these special "suits" and armors. What if the Avengers suits are made by Stark Industries? Sounds really interesting to me... They are not that bad after all. I supose that the strings on Captain America are from a package or they hold the shield in his back. Am I right? Quote
Bfahome Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 The Iron Man head had better have a flip-up thing. Because it sure looks like it does. Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 So the hulk chest looks like a dual ball snap connection to shoulders of the wider torso. and maybe an unused connection at the back middle bottom of the piece. Quote
Perry the Platypus Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Iron Man looks the like the less weird one of the bunch, if you know what I mean. Quote
