Looking forward to those two, guys.

I believe badboy said his next game would be Mafia School, so those of you who haven't graduated at this time will probably miss the next game (Excalibur Mafia?) but be eligible to play the game after that. (Jedi Temple Mafia?) (assuming you're picked for and graduate from the Mafia School game, of course)

Sandy's School game is also coming, in March, so there's that as well.

Presenting Masked Builder's Jedi Temple Mafia Game!

Mafiabannerbig.jpg

And to think until yesterday I was lanning to do a micro-scale Jedi Temple for the Star Wars community build.

Looks nice, Bob, but frankly, I'm not much into sci-fi (except for Star Wars and Doctor Who), so I won't take sign up for this. I don't even know if it's based on something already existing or made up by yourself.

Reserve judgement before you decline it immediately. It's a completely original storyline I made up, and it's not terribly futuristic. You'll see when the sign-up thread goes up eventually.

I take it Mafia schools and Mafia advance games don't take part at the same time?

Sometimes they do, Witchbreed mafia school and Gotham Mafia overlapped each other.

A Mafia School game will be starting at the beginning of March. I should note that I have already asked several people to host Mafia School games for this year, so we should be sorted on that front.

The Dragon has spoken - plenty of Mafia School games to go round.

It's normal (but not compulsory) for Mafia School games and Advanced games to run concurrently.

:cry_sad: I'ma miss Jedi Temple Mafia... :cry_sad:

Actually, I have a top secret game that's coming in April, after Yakuza. Then you're next, it seems.

I asked a little while back. My current schedule is probably too hectic to host, but I get most of the month of April off, so I reserved a spot.

So, what's it about? Well, it seems that... no, no, no, I can't say. It's a super-special surprise :sweet:

Bloodbrick III? :look:

I will only say this:

I'm not a fan of repeating myself (hosting-wise), though this is in some ways a spiritual successor to Bloodbrick.

But, at the moment, Dr. Blutziegel is retired and I have no intention of resurrecting him :sadnew:

I'm intrigued. :sweet:

Isla Paradisa ran at the same time as The Forest, too.

I'm looking forward to your game, def. I need to redeem myself after Bloodbrick II.

Oh that's why it says April, my mistake. I can't wait to see what it is!

Ironically, I just chose Bloodbrick as my latest Mafia archive crawl. I just finished reading Day 2, on to Day 3!

Just a quick question: Is there a Mafia strategy guide somewhere? I can't find one on mafiawiki, and I don't see one in the Index. I would really like to prepare a strategy before the next School starts, but so far I've only been able to read previous games, and there is a lot not in there (PMs, writeboards, etc.) that I would like to learn about. So, is there any place I can learn this?

The Mafia Wiki actually has one here it's just a little hard to find. Concerning the write boards and PM's you can sometimes find links to them in the conclusions of the games if you're willing to scan through the entire thread for it.

Thanks.

I just read the basic article, I feel pretty prepared now. Now I'll start reading the more detailed ones, so I can be ready. :classic:

Hmm, I tend to find reading write boards afterwards tedious and don't make sense to outside readers. In my opinion the best way to learn is to get in and play a game, thats how I learnt anyway.

However if you do want to read up on these things then I would recommend reading "Hogwarts Mafia" and "The coming Darkness"(not mafia). I think they are both good examples of a game which are easy to follow for outsiders to these games.

Well, reading the games themselves CAN be helpful, if you know what to look for. My goal is to have read through the Mafia games that I've seen tons of references to after the fact (Bloodbrick I and II, Baritones, The Forest, Werewolf, etc.) and glean what I can from them. Here's the ones I've finished so far, and the lessons I learned from them (spoilers ahead!):

*Western Mafia-What NOT to do in a Mafia game.

*Witch Hunt Mafia-An interesting experimental concept, there's some lessons on appearing scummy and on team coordination there, but given the unusual setup it's mostly just a really entertaining read. Also an EXCELLENT reminder never to overlook ANY hint given by the game mod--the title was a dead giveaway after the first few days.

*Hogwarts Mafia-I haven't read completely through this, but it's an excellent example of a Mafia with tons of roles with variable night actions.

*Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum-Possibly the most epic town fail ever. GREAT Scum action tactics early on (getting members of the Scum into the inner circle), and they just get better with time. In particular, Lord Arjay played a masterful game in managing to get himself off the hook multiple times, in spite of a host-provided clue that condemned him. I'm, uh...kinda glad he's not around these days, I would be completely toast against him. Also shows why rampant metagaming *cough*killingShadows*cough* is NOT a good idea.

*Baritones 3-Great example of a multi-scum game (well, aside from Prison Riot, but I haven't read all the way through that). Not much more to say, other than I am fully addicted to Hinckley's plays because of this and IMHOTEP.:grin::wub::laugh:

*Gotham City Mafia-I need to re-read this one now that I understand more of the Mafia terminology and strategy, see what I can glean from it. The Scum writeboard (link is in the conclusion topic) is a very interesting read, very helpful in seeing the way Scum think. I wish more Scum writeboards would be made public after games, it's VERY educational for new and old players alike.

*The Curse of IMHOTEP-The most epic Mafia I've read through so far. Seriously. The story was great, the names (and behavior!) were hilariously filthy, and it contains some of the best playing I've seen so far. Then again, I may be biased, since it was the first Mafia I got to watch all the way through.:wub:

Still on my to-read list (in no particular order):

*Werewolf Mafia

*The Forest Mafia

*Mystery Castle Mafia

*Galactic Paranoia Mafia

*Baritones 1 and 2

*Mystical Castle Mafia

*Mafia School: Escape from Isla Paradisa

*Mafia School: Fabuland Housewives

*Mafia School: Cirque du Freak

Any any others that are recommended to me.
