Bioniclover Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 (edited) Knifk booms into the hall's training room, new armor and weaponry glistening with polish. He gives Copper Fox a brisk nod, then states "I wish to become a Black Knight." He trains long and hard, but the Veteran refused to grant him the title of Black Knight. At the umpteenth "You're not ready, continue training," which came at one the next morning, the Orc snapped. He slammed up his helmet's visor, bared his teeth, and roared, "IMPUDENT FOOL! I HAVE TRAVELED THROUGH THE MINES CURSED BY THE DARKSTAR AND SLAIN THE MONSTROUS BEAST LYING WITHIN! I HAVE DESTROYED THE ARACHNID TERROR OF THE TITAAN MOUNTAINS! I HAVE MADE AN ANCIENT DRAGON OF IMMENSE WISDOM AND POWER AS WELL AS ITS SIX DRAKES BOW BENEATH MY BLADE! AND YOU DARE TELL ME I AM INCAPABLE OF A VICIOUS AND UNDERHANDED FIGHTING STYLE?! I SHALL NOT BE TREATED LIKE A NEWBORN KITTEN MEWLING FOR MILK! I AM KNIFK OF THE WRITHING WORM CLAN, EMISSARY OF TAROK! AND I! WILL! BECOME! A! BLACK! KNIGHT!!!" Panting, he thrust his sword forward, straight towards the Fox. A small part of his brain was nagging him, telling him it would be immensely idiotic to assault one of the legendary Veterans of Heroica. He told that part of his brain to shut its a[bUY SOME APPLES]. Tfel's tip began to shine with a malicious purple light, then five strands of bure shadow spiraled forth, impacting the still grinning man in the chest, sending him flying into a weapons rack, demolishing the wood and covering the man in pears and axes. His head popped up, still smiling, as he jovially called out, "Perfect! You can consider yourself a Black Knight now, You have utterly forsaken the code of chivalry by attacking an unarmed elder, you gave into your inner rage, you assaulted someone far more powerful than you despite your better judgement, and, best of all, you were so utterly pissed off at me that you actually generated a blast of pure Darkness without an Amethyst! Congratulations!" He then ushered the completely bewildered and still exhausted from his exertion Orc back into the main hall. JimBee Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Hybros entered the training room for the first time. He felt he was ready to expand his skill set and learn the ways of a more powerful servant or Heroica. The Copper Fox was waiting for him. He listened as the Veteran explained the skills that the imp could learn. After he was finished, Hybros considered for a moment. Learning the ways of a sorcerer could lend him the ability to control the power that lay hidden in his garnet and emerald, just as his ancestors did so many eons ago. But something inside was telling him that he wasn’t ready, not yet. He needed more time to explore the full potential of himself and the world around him before he could control them. In the meantime, he had to continue his journeys in Heroica. And he wasn’t going to let anything stop him. He had the Copper Fox teach him the skills of an Assassin, so that he may dispatch his enemies quickly. The Fox taught him how to kill in a single strike, and to take better aim at his opponents. Hybros also practiced his rogue skills, so that he may flee when the battle looks grim, and that he may stealthily take the stolen gold of criminals. After hours of vigorous training, Hybros finally felt ready. The Copper Fox bestowed the title of Assassin on him, and he departed. In the streets of Eubric, he wandered. He came across a clothing vendor, and decided it might be time for new garb. His old tunic had holes and burn marks in it, and he would need something more subtle if he really was an Assassin. He entered, and left wearing a ragged black cloak with an emerald sash running around his waist. The vendor didn’t have much in Hybros’s size, so she had to cut up some old scraps to fit the imp. Feeling much more capable of completing his goals, Hybros returned to the Hall once more. Sandy Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 Ellaria stepped timidly into the Training Hall, and saw several heroes training to advance their skills. She placed Elpis' basket on the floor next to the wall, and waited to get the attention of the Veteran instructor. She did get it eventually, when Elpis started shrieking her lungs out. Ellaria tried to calm the baby down when a shadow fell upon them. "This is not a very safe place for a child, you know? There's arrows flying around, and some of these people are only rehearsing flinging spells." Ellaria stood up to face the grinning Veteran. Copper Fox was his monicker, she had heard. "I'm all she's got, and I need to train. So she goes wherever I go. Sylvania will guard her where my eyes avert." The Copper Fox was a little taken aback by Ellaria's confidence. "You sure seem to be strong in your faith. You must be a cleric, then. So, what skills do you wish to train, then?" "There is only one way for me", Ellaria answered. "Sylvania showed it to me." My child. You have survived against the odds, you have endured pain and hardship, and you have laid all your faith in me. It has now time to embrace your destiny. You are a child of the woods, the daughter of the trees and the sister of all wild creatures. You have the power to hurt and heal, to punish and reward, to take a life and create a new one. Now, seek your way back to my abode. Back home. "I wish to train as a druid", Ellaria said. "I already bought a crossbow. Please teach me to use it." "Haha, you're one determined lass, I'll say!" the Veteran trainer laughed. "Very well. You already know how to heal, but in order to become a druid, you need to become one with the nature. I cannot teach you that here, so meet me at the eastern gate at midnight. If you can find someone to look after your baby for that time, that is." "I will meet you there. This is what I need to do." And so Ellaria trained with the Veteran in the woods outside Eubric until she knew all the plants and the trees, the language of all the animals, and all the laws of nature. All that came almost naturally for her, but it was learning to shoot with the crossbow that proved to be the most arduous task for Ellaria. Time and again she threw away the bow in frustration, but the Copper Fox always made her pick it up and practice again. And finally, one day.... "Bull's eye! I did it!" Ellaria shouted, and ran to her instructor to give him a hug. "You certainly did it", the dashing Veteran said with a big smile. "You, Ellaria Arbour, can now without a doubt call yourself a true druid." Dannylonglegs Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 (edited) The creaking wooden doors of the Training Room crept open. A gust of cold midnight air and swirling fog swept in, light from the moon casting the figure of a caped man on the well-used wood and tossed sand of the floor. The powerful wind brought training equipment to life: hung punching bags swayed and light arrows noisily jangled together like chimes. A shield, loosely leaned against a rack of weapons, rolled to the ground with a soft thud. "Hello, who is it?!" Came the perky voice that could only belong to the Copper Fox, instructor of the room. Sylph Solanum made no reply, instead choosing to invite himself into the chamber. The Copper Fox met him within, wearing a robe as opposed to his daytime chest armour and undershirt. "You don't sleep very much, do you?" Asked Sylph in an amused way. "No, not really. And especially not when the moon is so close to being full" Replied the Jack of all trades, looking past Sylph to see the moon and the street while saying the last words, as if he were watching out for some unseen threat. "Looks to me like you don't either." Remarked the Fox shrewdly, his gaze returning to the bleak helmeted figure before him. "I find the night-time air invigorating." Commented Sylph. "Now, if you don't mind, I do have a reason to be here..." You wish to train in an advanced class, I know." Interjected Copper Fox. "What makes you think I'll let you train tonight? You barged in unannounced in the middle of the night, and haven't shown much politeness since." After quick contemplation, Sylph replied, "I apologize for my perceived impropriety. May we continue now?" "Sure thing sport," Chuckled the Fox as he took off his robe and began to reassemble his day-time attire. "So, what are you now, a rogue, a ranger?" Questioned Copper Fox, his muscled but scarred back exposed as he pulled on his white undershirt. "A Cleric." For a split second Fox almost looked surprised, but in an instant, his face grew an ironical smirk. "You don't say. Come to think of it, it's now pretty obvious because of all your holy symbols and preachy talk. " "I worship Nature." "So you're a cleric of Sylvania." "Yes." "So.... What's your plan." "Excuse me?" "Why'd you come here in the middle of the night.? What class do you want to advance in.?" "I wish to train as a druid." "Hmm," Remarked the Copper Fox in a serious tone. "I sense much darkness in you. More than I've felt in a long time of working with heroes. I'm not sure you have the dual spirit of a druid. Life and Death. Perhaps you might be more suited as a witch." "No. I shall once again... I mean, I shall make my master proud and advance in the arts of nature. I promised him such as I watched him die." "I'm more interested in that first thing you were saying, but all right. Let's go to the park, I'll show you how to commune with nature. If you feel you can devote yourself to nature and Sylvania properly, then, let us train you as a a druid. " "I am always devoted to Sylvania." stated Sylph cryptically as he reentered to sea of fog from which he was birthed. "That's not ominous sounding at all. " Mumbled The Copper Fox as he walked out the door, following Sylph. The two made their way to the park silently, Sylph's bat companion twisting through the air, making trails in the fog. The night was silent and starless, the large moon illuminating the roofs of the tall buildings which left the cobble stone streets obscured. A wolf howled. "Alright, we're here." Announced Copper Fox. "I see." Retorted Sylph as he ran his gloved hand almost lovingly over the knotted bark of an oak, growling disdainfully at the soot residue left on his gloves. "Since you're so observant, maybe you can identify these herbs." Said Copper as brushed his hand over a set of three different plants. "That one with the large white trumpet-like flowers and the thorny ball shaped seed-pod is a Jimson Weed. You should probably wash your hands before placing them in your mouth. That second one you pointed out is a mint of some kind." Getting closer, he grasped a leaf and rubbed it between his thumb and pointer fingers, then he brought his hand up to the slits in his mask around where one might imagine his nose resided, and inhaled. "dragon-pepper mint. Tasty and fragrant, but again, wash your hands before consuming. That last one is Mucgwyrt. Very useful in many potions and it repels insects. "Impressive, but let's get serious." Said Copper Fox, as he lead Sylph deeper into the forested area. When their training was through for the night, The sun was peaking over the trees of the park. "Very good." Said Sylph, his gloves scarred and dirty. He held his hands before him. "I can feel the power of Nature within me... Thou, Nature, art my goddess." Sylph began, speaking to the trees around him. "To thy law my services are bound." "Looks like someone's pleased with himself... Or herself. I really can't tell. This guys voice is rather gender neutral, the body shape is androgynous, and that mask is completely obscuring. I don't know what he/she is either." mumbled The Copper Fox to himself as he wandered back to his den, showing signs of heavy physical excursion. Scubacarrot Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Guts steps in the hall, and looks around for a bit. What he saw pleased him, a few dummies, enough weapons to train with, and no one to walk before his feet. Without a real goal, Guts started beating away on the dummies. First just with Lifestealer, the weapon he had become used to, and later Guts alternated melee attacks with quick throws of his throwing knife. It was what Guts had been doing up to this point, and it was what he was comfortable with. Not necessarily a good thing. The old man took a second sword from one of the weapon racks that was around, it was not sharped, but it was good enough for training now. For a while, the only sound in the otherwise empty training room was the clashing of weapons on the wood of the training dummy. When suddenly, Guts screamed with rage. With a powerful, inward swing of both swords at the same time, Guts outright cut the training dummy in half. The old rogue was breathing heavily, and threw both swords in a corner. Why was he even doing this? Not the training, but playing the "Hero". He could have moved on a long time ago. Be sure to get away from THEM. Not having to worry, not having to watch his back every second of the waking day, and not having to fear for his life in the few moments he allowed himself the comfort of sleep. He would not have the paranoia, not even trusting the people he had fought and bled with together multiple times, like Knifk or Dak. He would not have to deal with petty things like clearing out a mine or settling rich people's wagers. He would not have to deal with people calling him a hero while all he did was be a common mercenary. And above all, he would not have to look at the chaos and mess that was Eubric, a city that was well on way of corrupting itself with it's greed, injustice and political intrigues. He could just move on, and never look back, do his own thing, finish his task. But would that not be exactly what they wanted? Another one that bites the dust, packs his things, and leave. No, perhaps it would be up to him to make a difference, perhaps it would be up to Guts to change the meaning of the word "Hero", restore the value to what it once meant all throughout the world. But first have it start in Eubric, too many of it's current "Heroes" would go on jobs to solve the problems of foreign lands, while the situation on home soil was worse. He would need to change the city, it's leaders, or at least their mindset. Too few of the people in power were too focussed on preserving their own riches and power, while it was obvious that there would be something to break this chaotic way of doing things. Things would change, and it would be up to people like Heroica to steer the changes in a direction that would not leave the city in ruins. Thoughts ran through Guts's head as he slowly sat down on the floor. Perhaps it was time to actually start trying, perhaps it was time to stop caring about his own petty fears, and focus on what should be done. From what Guts had seen there were two rough categories of heroes at this point, the ones that called themselves heroes, and believed themselves to be equal to the heroes of old, gladly doing the tasks given to them by the veterans. Haldor, the Shaman was an example. These heroes were steering Heroica down a dark path. These would never change, they would never have the oppertunity to actually do Good, for they do not feel the need for change, and refused to look past the obvious problems, and would put Heroica first, not the people. These could be salvaged, their eyes would need some serious opening, but it was possible The other group were the ones that were only in it for the loot and the gold, gladly bearing the mantle of Hero, just to enrich themselves at every turn possible. Johon the clumsy barbarian was the prime example, they would not care what job they would do, gladly doing whatever would be thrown at them, just so it would make them a bit better. These were perhaps even more detrimental to Heroica, and had turned it into a common mercenary's guild. These would need to be rooted out, for it would be unable to make sure which side they would pick when the time comes, the last thing you want is a companion that stabs you in the back if the other sides pays more. No, there would be nothing that would happen on it's own, Guts would need to bring change to the city, and Heroica. And nothing, nothing would stop him, and no one would stand in his way. With renewed vigor, Guts rolled from the floor to his weapons, picked them up, threw his throwing knife in the middle of an archery target, stabbed a dummy where a man's heart would be, he left the sword in the wood, grabbed a spear from a nearby barrel, and with a sweeping attack, Guts attacked a circle of dummies. When the smoke of splinters and wooddust cleared up, a man was standing in the doorway, leaning against the doorpost, looking at the severed dummies and the spear in Guts's hands and said: "Hmmm, You want to train as a Raider then?" Guts awnsered: "What would that entail?" "I see you have the mindset and strength of the Raiders, but I'm unsure about your reach, and your flexibility. You would have to work on those qualities" Guts grumbled, who was this guy to tell him this, and then realized this must be the Copper Fox. He had heard stories that this man had mastered both magic and the ability to fight in full armour, that he was exceeding in martial arts, and had the healing power of the Gods, and that he was a master with every weapon imaginable. Finally, Guts answered: "Very well, teach me the ways of the Raider." For several days, Guts trained with the Copper Fox. The man, whose age Guts could not pinpoint, showed him techniques with both weapons unfamiliar to Guts, like Axes, and Spears, as well as ways to easily engage multiple enemies with a sword or even a dagger. Despite Guts's own experience, there was still a lot Guts could learn, and after a few days, Guts mastered all techniques the Copper Fox could throw at him. In name and skill, Guts was now what the Copper Fox called a Raider, a warrior best at robbing and ravaging. After the training was done, and the Copper Fox seemed to have disappeared in the woodworks, Guts searched through his pack, and finally found what he was looking for: a small bottle, with a label that says: SCARR-A-WAY. Guts had taken it from Dr. Cula's office, it was sitting there, and Guts figured he would not miss it. Guts closed his eyes, and took it, Guts feeled his face, and noticed most of his scars were starting to go away, the small ones had all but disappeared, and the three large ones had started to fade, there was no sign of the burnmarks that once covered the former rogue's head. His nose was still crooked, but what can you do? Pleased with this development, Guts stepped out Heroica Hall, confusing the people that now saw him without scars, his second change in appearance in a matter of days. The raider went on to buy a dark blue coat for a few coins from a Rockling-run establishment, and then headed to an alleyway. Guts pondered for a few moments, and then started unbinding his armour, the metal that had protected him for so long, the outfit that Guts had scraped together from all kinds of places, that consisted of all kinds of metals and other materials, and had been through all Guts himself had been through. He dumped it in a trash can, and now wearing only a simple coat, a functional leather chestguard, and some cotton breeches, and wellmade, deerleather shoes. The armour had been a symbol for Guts's own struggle, a struggle that he now abandoned, his own problems were not important, it was time to focus on the good of the people, of Eubric, of Heroica. Darth Nihilus Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Dak walks into the Training Room, an air of vague confidence about him to hide the apprehension inside, knawing away at his innermost fears, of rejection, hatred, and most of all, love. He finds himself standing in front of a rack of weapons, armor, and shields, although he didn't remember walking there. He knew he had to change his style if he was going to shake off the influence of his corrupted family, and the other Houses. He shook the Shadeaux Shield off his arm, and replaced it with one depicting a roaring dragon. He picked out matching chainmail, and a blackened, long sword replaced his dagger for practice. So immersed in his quest for equiptment was Dak that he didn't notice someone approaching until a weathered, battle-scarred hand rested on his shoulder. He jumped, spun, and whipped his sword, eyes blazing blood-red. "Whoah there, fella. Didn't mean no harm, young one," said the Copper Fox. Dak slowly put down the blade, and his eyes faded back to dull brown. "I assume from your choice of equiptment you wish to train as a Black Knight, then?" asked the Veteran. Dak nodded, mutely. "A Shadeaux as well, I see from your choice of insignia." Dak, confused as to what the Fox meant, asked: "What are you talking about?" The Fox nodded towards Dak's new shield. "A dragon. Only suitable, considering your family's symbol is draconic as well. You didn't intend on this to happen?" "No." "Ah. Completely a slip of the mind, then?" the Fox asked, a hint of mischief twinkling in his eyes. "A subconsious connection to your family?" "NO!" Dak roared, eyes once again flashing red. "I AM NOT A PAWN TO MY FAMILY'S GAMES! I WILL NOT BE CONTROLLED BY THEM, OR BY YOU!" Tendrils of darkness energy swirled around the boy, as his inner turmoil between his loyalty to his family and his loyalty to himself finally began to show through. The veins pulsating black on his limbs burst, spreading insubstansial darkness through the air like a cloud. All that could be seen in the Training Room were Dak's blazing eyes, ignited with an inner fire that was showing through, tendrils of red and orange licking the air around them. Then, just as suddenly as the darkness had appeared, it was gone, and Dak collapsed to the floor, heaving great breaths of air, eyes fading once again, but somehow feeling more at peace than ever before. "Exellent," the Copper Fox chuckled, clapping loudly. "We'll make a true Black Knight of you yet, son." But Dak wasn't concentrating on the Fox, but rather, a point behind him, in which a strange and ethereal figure had appeared. Seeing Dak's concentration on what was, to him, a patch of air, the Copper Fox stepped away, gratefully turning the stage over to whatever divine figure was appearing in the boy's eyes. Dak continued staring, as a vaguely female shape appeared, and then suddenly, with a *pop* sound, blinked into existance. "Argh! How do I never get those "divine appearance" things right?" a teenage girl sputtered angrily, popping a bubble of something pink and strange in her mouth. "Well, actually, this is my first time appearing to my one follower," she said, to no one in particular. As Dak was the only one who could hear her, she huffed angrily, blowing a stray patch of hair out of her eyes. "Okay, like, Dak, I know you've never, like, seen a goddess before, right?" Without waiting for an answer, she plowed on. "This is, like, my training assessment to become, like, a true goddess, you know? Not just a dopey old initiate with one follower, no offence. So, like, it would be really, like, great, if you could, like, not get yourself killed, alright? 'Cause I'm seriously depending on you here, 'kay? No pressure, of course. Byyyye!" And with that, she was gone. Dak shrugged his shoulders, a bit disoriented. He strode out of the Training Room, true confidence pouring from his every pore. *Awaiting freaking camera to work for picture* Dak, Level 15 Black Knight HP:30 Pwr: 25 (20 for ranged attacks) Quote
Jebediahs Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 En Sabah Nur entered the Training Room. This seemed to be the only place where he could relax and focus enough to bring forth his pet rock. It rolled around expectantly. "Eh, look what happened to my arm. Looks pretty intimidating, no?" "..." "Well, I can't seem to get it off. I've tried every spell I know. Any ideas?" "..." "It's awfully heavy. I wonder if I could do something to lighten its weight." "Perhaps I can be of some assistance. Here, hit this target mannequin as hard as you can with your regular arm." Nur complied and the dummy wobbled. "Now with your rocky one." The mage hit the wooden dummy and it wobbled a bit. "Weak. That hit should have shattered the dummy. You're going to help me around here for a bit. Moving the equipment to where I need it and such." Nur looked at his pet rock and shrugged. En Sabah Nur did as he was instructed. His quadriceps and hamstrings ached with the constant lifting. Every other break the Copper Fox would engage Nur in some playful lighthearted sparring. The earth mage enjoyed the physical activity. Over time Copper Fox brought out the wooden target dummy again. "Now, destroy the dummy with your fist." Nur grinned and prepared to hit the target with his earthy arm. "No, with your normal hand." The_Customizer Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Erdathcath strolls into the Training Room, after finally deciding the way she wished to continue her role as a Hero of Heroica. "Greetings Mr. Fox. I have come to learn the way of the cleric in order that I may transform myself into a Druid." "Ah! A very good decision, so far there are only 2-3 others who have reached the ability and chosen to become druids." "Well then, where do I begin?" "First off you must grasp for yourself a feeling of Nature as it spins and works its way around you and others." "Hmm, that doesn't seem too hard, already I am quite close with nature and it's children. However, how does that help anything?" "Well, it seems that you have already learned the first step towards being a Druid, though you must now learn the way of the cleric, and discover for yourself the magic that resides inside each and everyone of us, not to mention the ability to manipulate nature and in some cases cheat death of his due." Erdathcath begins her vigorous training, until she feels she is ready for her first use of ether and magic. "Well, here goes nothing!" In a bright flash of light Erdathcath is suddenly able to summon the Roots of Life, and heals all which is damaged, near her. She also is able to seek out the irregularities in the ground, and destroy that which is evil. Suddenly, she herself begins to change and transform, then she screams out! "What is happening? I feel myself becoming one with the earth, though more specifically wood, why do I feel denser? Almost as if I am a.....a...TREE." "NO!! This can't be happening, I have never seen anyone so connected with nature itself, this cannot be good!" Suddenly, the screaming stops, the light dims down, and Erdathcath walks forward. Her face has changed, as has the rest of her skin, she almost appears to be living wood, but not quite, she is more human than wood, slowly she becomes more and more normal appearing, until the changes stop, and she is as she was before, except her complexion is more 'woody'. Almost as if she has a tree inside her. "So, this is what it feels like to be a druid? I can sense the moves in nature, I can understand the talk of beasts, I can sense the sadness in this world. It is almost...too...much." Mr. Fox looks shocked. "Erdathcath! Are you ok? I have never seen anything quite like that, though now it appears that this form is what you were meant to be this whole time. Perhaps you shall bring a balance between nature and man." Erdathcath's training is through, she puts on her robes and departs the Training Rooms, ready for her next adventure. Darkdragon Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 After many days of meditating in her room at the Inn, Cinna finally gathers up the courage to head to the Training Room and face the Veteran, Copper Fox. She walks slowly, with determination. Each step closer it takes more and more effort to not turn away and hop on the next ship off to a new land where nobody know what she's done. Remembering the wise words of the cleric who counseled her in Mistaria, she keeps walking until finally she has reached the doors to the room. Taking one last deep breath, she reaches out to open the door. "Here we go." she says to herself as the door swings open wide to let her in. "Welcome to the Training Room. What would you like me to train you in? I see you are a strong Mage already, I'm sure you know the options open to you. Whichever path you choose, I will show you the way." He pauses for a moment, looking directly into Cinna's eyes. It feels to her, however, that he is peering into her heart and perhaps seeing her very soul. "I see there is something troubling you child. What is this burden you carry so weighty on your young shoulders?" "Well, sir, I am not sure I am worthy to train with you. I've ... made mistakes." She averts her eyes from his penetrating gaze, looking down at the floor. After a moment of silence, she looks back up and sees him standing motionless. He just waits, patiently, for her to continue. "I've caused a young boy to lose his freedom and become a prisoner, and then, in my shame I ran away from Heroica. In my struggle, I worked as a hired thug and we attacked my own friends, heroes I know! The thing is, can I be forgiven? I have decided to dedicate myself to making up for the wrongs I've done to others. I want to make this world a better place, but am I worthy to continue?" "We all make mistakes on our path. Our destiny takes us through many hardships and many good times, the gods like to try and break us. It's a hero such as yourself who is able to stand up and say No! I will not falter or fail! and use the mistakes and pain to march forward into the face of destiny, head held high, and heart strengthened like a fine blade of steel. You are ready for the next path, a direction of your own choosing, to get you closer to your goals whatever they may be." He walks over and puts a hand on her shoulder. "You are worthy of being a true Hero. What path do you choose?" She feels a warm glow inside, like a new hope radiating from his hand throughout her heart. Finally, the last veil of darkness seems to have lifted. She feels like a hero again, on the right path, and in the right place. The shakiness in her voice is gone as she speaks to the Copper Fox with a newfound confidence. "Thank you. I will not let the Veterans down. I have chosen to train as a Mystic Knight." "Very well. I have a feeling this is the perfect choice for you. Follow me and we will begin your training in the ways of the knight." The Copper Fox trains her in the ways of the knight and in the specifics of the Mystic Knight. She demonstrates her knowledge of magic with each of the gems she poses, and her prowess with her staff weapon. After a grueling session, he stands back and gives her a little grin. He hands her a bundle of clothing to represent her ascension into the advanced class. "You are ready to continue on your path as a Mystic Knight. Fight well, Cinna the Dark, and always remember your destination when you have tough choices to make." Cinna bows and takes her new clothing from him and leaves the training room feeling like a new person, or like her old self, perhaps a bit of both. Capt.JohnPaul Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 *Picture coming soon.* Alexandre walks into the training room, and speaks to the Copper Fox. "I have spilt much blood, I want to reverse what I have done by healing, and to wipe out evil." "I have magical dummies, with the same properties as undead enemies. Destroy them, and prove your worth as a paladin." Alexandre looks at the skeletons, and makes the sign of the cross, the undead creatures collapse on the floor. "Where's your weapon? How did you do that?" "I am armed by faith." Let scripture be my sword, Let faith be my shield, Let wisdom be my crown. My strength is that of ten, for my heart is pure. Quote
Flipz Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) OOC: Surprise! Tanma and I whipped this up together, it's the training for both of us. Enjoy! De'kra walked into the training room, cautiously. For a few moments he wondered if this paradox could work, and it he was better off with some other class. Those moments soon washed away, as memories of Dastan slammed into him. Constance, the heroes who stood with her, even the war was caused by an apathy to who was harmed, and a bluntness in methods. Innocents fell from attacks meant for the enemies, and sometimes the true monsters came out unscaved. No, he needed to do this. The echo approached the Veteran and clicked, "Please teach I how to be Assassin." The Veteran raised one eyebrow, but agreed. ------------- Arthur stepped into the Training Room, Zoot's Plaything in hand. He knew which path he would take; from his choice in friends it was inevitable, yet he felt it was a weighty choice nonetheless. Just as the Copper Fox came into sight, however, Arthur saw he was already occupied with another Hero--the diminutive echo De'kra. De'kra danced with his blade, feeling Kapura no longer as a tool, but as an extension of his arm. He leapt and bound about the room, hacking at the mannequins in clean sharp cuts. Cuts that would not prolong death for any suffering entity. The feeling he had felt since Dastan grew stronger, as if with each leap and hack a chain fell off. Arthur was amazed. He had seen his friend in battle only once, and then just vaguely amidst the chaos of the Battle for Dastan. De'kra posessed a prodrigous talent, and Arthur watched as his friend effortlessly demolished the mechanical dummies the Veteran sent toward him. And yet, even as he admired De'kra's knife-play, he felt a change come over him. The longer Arthur watched the echo, the more familiar his motions seemed, until he found himself copying some of the same movements. Sweeping from shadow to shadow, the smoke of Calibor's staff aiding him, Arthur found himself in a small alcove above the training floor, containing a weathered scroll, bearing a somewhat Dastanian seal. You are far more powerful than you could ever imagine..., it read. As Arthur took the Scroll, he felt its energy and knowledge enter his mind--just as he sensed a myriad of spears, arrows, and saw blades bearing down upon him from unseen hidden panels. Nimbly Fleeing their swift devastation, Arthur raced down the stairs, diving through a window onto the training floor--just as De'kra reached the pinnacle of his training. ------------- Suddenly De'kra spotted Arthur coming in, and the echo's movements doubled. In a powerful strike he sliced a mannequin to dust, leaving a small cloud. But as the mist faded away, De'kra's clothes hard ripped apart, to reveal a strange metallic chest, ingraved with a exotic red design. As De'kra looked over his happily familiar torso, he failed to notice a leak of...something...emerging from his body. The gas dispersed rapidly, by the time he was done, it was gone. ------------- Just outside, a figure unfamiliar to either Hero captured just a tiny amount of the strange gas within a vial... "..." ------------- Arthur's own energy burst forth just as De'kra completed his own transformation, his old robes disintegrating in a sparking blaze of icy darkness. Zoot's Plaything, momentarily forgotten, exerted its own energy, and the mage felt himself reclothed, in more fitting garb. "Most interesting," Fox said, "but you have not unleashed your full potential yet!" A flash of light later, five Copper Foxes surrounded the two Heroes! "Make Confusion your ally, Regulus, or else it will become your foe!" Arthur and De'kra stood back to back, barely fending off blows, not knowing if they were real or merely one of the Fox's cunning illusions. Neither dared to move, for fear that in their Confusion, they would fight each other. At that moment, a voice whispered to Arthur's mind, from a fresh memory... He trusts you... In a flash of inspiration, Arthur sends power surging through his arms, and as he channels it through the scroll, he lets forth just one word: "Now!" ------------- De'kra stood back to back with Arthur, barely avoiding and blocking strikes from the five combatants. As De'kra fought back, the voice stated softly:. "You falter, he might fall." With a grim nod De'kra listened as Arthur shouted, "Now!" As if rehearsed, a burst of chaotic energy erupts from the Plaything clenched in Arthur's fist, bursting forth in a cascade of spells that struck all of the Copper Foxes, Stunning them in their tracks. With perfect synchronization, Arthur drops prone in time for De'kra to move forward, knocking all the the Foxes's arms back. Like a grasshopper De'kra lunged into the air, bouncing about the room and striking deep into the copies. In the background De'kra could hear Arthur blasting powerful waves of energy at the foes, ravaging them. Finally only one stood. De'kra smoothly swung his dagger, only for the apparently true veteran to block it. The real Fox caught De'kra's blade with his own, a mere inch short of his neck. As the cloud of chaotic energy dispersed and Fox's illusory duplicates faded, the Veteran congratulated the duo. "Well done, Heroes! An Assassin and a Sorcerer...a potent combination, to be sure. Your alliance will take you far, that much is certain. You may rejoin your fellow Heroes." Tanma Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 IC: De'kra dipped his head in thanks to Copper Fox, though a glimmer of doubt remaned. Still, this was the best way. This way he could limit his kills, and when he die kill, it would be a clean and painless death. Hopefully by being a killer, he could stop killing. A maddening paradox, but it was the best path ahead of him. At least, that he could see. Either way, the echo returned to tha hall, finally joining so many heroes in advanced classes. Quote

Speaking to the Copper Fox, Xander proclaims: "This last quest I have seen visions of people past, where great hunters were revered for their expertise in the arts of tracking prey and making the necessary kill. I know now that my path must be influenced by this; for this reason, I will choose the class of Hunter to train myself in, hopefully gaining more knowledge about my murky past." "I am Thothwick, Mr. Fox, and there are many dangers in the world. I need to be more than just a novice in both offence and defence if I am to survive the many witches and beasts this world throws at me." "You have the stature to be capable with weapons and intimidation, so Black Knight seems suitable for you, Mr. Thothwick. Have you received any training like this before?" "Yes. In my young adult years, pater wished me join the Metasimian Melee Brigade. It was tradition in my family, but mainly an honorary position, none of them saw any major battle due to various connections. I received the basics of training, but never saw it through." "Very well, Mr. Thothwick, shall we begin?" Slashing the training dummies with his Sabre, Thothwick regained his former knowledge fighting, combined with the training his didn't complete, in order to become a Black Knight. Rumble Strike Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 (edited) When Tarn had left the Hall, he had wandered for days, surviving in the wild and utilising his natural Barbarian traits. He enjoyed the peace and solace that finally enveloped him, now that his guilt over Constance's death was not consuming him. He was still troubled about his next choice, that of his advanced class. He had slept on it over several nights, and had finally come to a decision, but needed to talk to Rystael, his mentor, about it. Tarn returned home, to the monastary where he had been raised, in the heart of the Titaan mountains. He found Rystael wandering a corridor, and called out to the old man. "Rystael! I have returned!" The white-cloaked Cleric of Valco turned at the voice, a smile creasing his wizened features even further. "It is good to see you, my boy. You have grown into a man since your year at Heroica, I see." Rystael tugged mischeviously at Tarn's full beard, which was only stubble when he had first left. "But I sense this is not an idle visit. There is much pain and sadness around you now, in the recent past." "This is true, Rystael. I was involved in the death of an innocent, which lay a heavy burden on me." Tarn told his mentor all about Dastan and his part in the tragic accusation and subsequent death of the Dastanian Dragon Knight Constance, and of the climatic battle which saw a large group of heroes victorious, saving an Empire. "But this is not why I have come," said Tarn, "I have come to terms with my actions, knowing that the good I do and will do is nobler to concentrate on. No, I wish to inform you that I will not be following your path, my master. I will not become part Cleric." Rystael looked shocked for a moment, but gestured for his protege to continue. "I have seen many things since volunteering for Heroica - strange, mystical, magical things. I know that you use Ether to focus your abilities, but it is not for me to channel such energies. I have learned what my strengths are, and they do not involve the Ethereal. Mine are more lowbrow and physical. I work best hitting things until they fall over." Tarn grinned. Rystael nodded. "My child, there was never an expectation for you to follow the paths of the Cleric. You are your own person, and you were bestowed our order's name Valco because of your strength and wisdom, not for any desire to see you wield Ether. Whatever choice you make, I am sure you will bring honour to me, this order, and Heroica. Now wait here, I have something for you that may help." Rystael left, and returned a few minutes later carrying some chainmail leggings. "These will be of use no matter which class you decide to become. I should never have let you leave before wearing chest armour but only having leather leggings. Wear these, my boy, and make your mark on Heroica again!" The two hugged, Tarn holding the man who raised him in a tight embrace before leaving the monastary once again. Once back in Eubric freeport, Tarn visited the Marketplace, buying up a Fauxthril Shield (50 gold) and some Heavy armour (230 gold), emptying his purse from 338 gold to 58 before standing before the Copper Fox. Etzel Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Finally Maurice could step into the Training Room at the Heroica Hall. He had just bidden farewell to High Priestess Alisameth at the Temple of Ennoc where he had gone to say his prayers and meet with the head of the Paladin Order. The High Priestess had given him her blessing and wished him luck, and in a sense Maurice was already part of the Paladin Order again by now. The training that was to be done here with the veteran Copper Fox was just the final steps on the path that would lead the cleric to his new class. Dressed in his new white cloak, together with the dark blue cape that symbolized his position in the Order, Maurice Ratibor walked up to the training master and spoke: "Sir Copper Fox, I wish to proceed my career in Heroica as a Paladin. To fight for what is good and right in the dark and evil world of today. To aid those in need and heal the wounded.
