Landlubber Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Here's a little Moc I whipped up over the christmas break. This little port is owned by Gaspar (the treasure keeper), a local spanish merchant who will buy and sell anything. Credit has to go to JoJo cause I ripped off several aspects of his warehouse. I couldn't help it, it looked so good. The whole lot Interior of the hacienda The warehouse, mill and stable The dock, with a couple of potential sellers, and Gaspars senorita Amada Gaspar himself Gaspars right hand man, Black Jack. An ex british naval captain and the regions top card player. Bottom floor of the warehouse Top floor The windmill The O'Malley twins, two irish brothers who run the mill. Their favourite after hours pastime is the local islander women. ; ) The mill actually works. The stable Inside the stable. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 19, 2007 Governor Posted February 19, 2007 This is quite an awesome MOC! But the first thing I'm curious to know was Gaspar inspired by the character of the same name from the animated series Mysterious Cities of Gold? Quote
El Bucanero Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Here's a little Moc I whipped up over the christmas break. A little MOC?!! Don't be silly! This is a beautiful and quite large MOC, not a little MOC :-P ! I like the use of the fabuland roof pieces. But... The stable I don't really see the point of the bridge in this picture... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 19, 2007 Governor Posted February 19, 2007 A little MOC?!! Don't be silly! This is a beautiful and quite large MOC, not a little MOC :-P ! What I create are "little" MOCs X-D Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted February 19, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted February 19, 2007 This is so very VERY good!!! It looks so fresh, original, has great colors. I love the palm-tree forest, the buildings, ...*wub* Quote
Capn Frank Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Landlubber, This definitely ain't a small MOC, This is a nice little village. Lots of details and realism. Do you plan on making any homes for these 'villagers' or is this MOC complete? I like how all the fabuland and bellville components are integrated into this moc. *y* Nice well too :) The only thing that i'd like to see right now, is for the mill's 2nd and third floor to be broken up with a line of red plates or something rather than going from white to gray. Hey is that a red telephone booth by the "governor's" house? :-D P Quote
Asuka Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Very nice! *y* I especially like that working windmill with that bathtub/well (?) and the stable with those wagon wheels lying around.... The whole scenery is beautiful and full of life. Great work! *sweet* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 19, 2007 Governor Posted February 19, 2007 He's even used green Fabuland roof pieces! I was wondering how they'd look on a bigger MOC and my question has been answered! Quote
Landlubber Posted February 20, 2007 Author Posted February 20, 2007 Thanks for the comments. Phes - No, he wasn't inspired by that character Phes. Thats just a conicidence. I looked up a website full of spanish names and picked Gaspar because it meant "treasure keeper". The vague physical resemblance is ...... kinda spooky really. Tiber , I mean MR Tiber -There is no real point of the bridge. I was going to have a small jail or something where the stairs are, and I already had put the bridge piece in the mill. Then I couldn't make up my mind on the jail so I just chucked the stairs there. Phred - I do have a pile of town buildings. Eventually everything will get set up in a big layout (10m x30m shed is currently under construction on my farm). All my previous MOCs are still complete, I never cannibalise something for parts unless its really crap. I just get more parts. Red plates are a good idea, might try that. And no, there's no telephone booth. Gaspar has a Satellite phone. :p It's actually a bell, to alert the workers of knockoff time. There's an upside down yellow goblet in there. I've got a couple of wagons and stuff but they were out at the farm at the time I took the photo. Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted February 20, 2007 Governor Posted February 20, 2007 The only thing that i'd like to see right now, is for the mill's 2nd and third floor to be broken up with a line of red plates or something rather than going from white to gray. I see what you mean Phred... It looks a bit harsh putting grey directly on top of the white, but is red the most appropriate colour? Wouldn't a row yellow be more appropriate since red is the colour of the bricks underneath? Obviously the the yellow that's there would need to be replace by white first, otherwise the yellow row would look a bit messy. Quote

I'd try both colors then or whatever plates are available X-D Yeah yellow may look better, the red plates might have matched to roof was all. P Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 20, 2007 Governor Posted February 20, 2007 Yes, I thought of this too but to me it didn't make sense to have red in the middle since yellow was already in use. But like you said trying both colours would probably best the way to determine the right colour. Quote
Norro Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Looks good! Nice to see a self contained settlement. Also some interesting construction in there. Though the warehouse did look very familiar... ;-) God Bless, Nathan Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 20, 2007 Governor Posted February 20, 2007 Where did it look familiar from? Quote

I think you need better glasses Mr. Tiber :) It was added 5 minutes after it was posted by Mr. Landlubber. I even "guessed" the name of the thumb because the folder was not yet public. It's been put it under the category harbors. Quote
