CMP Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) Phil's special shouldn't be affected by Lyon's armor, by the way I'm reading the wording, but seeing as how you designed it, I'm probably just being too hopeful. Atramor's determination on the battle was so great that even the hexed Lion Commander was getting throbbing headaches. It soon dissolved into nothing but satisfaction, however. "Yes!! Finish them!" he cackled, again healing Phil. "What, no post-round taunt? Finally admittin' your lethal mistake? Tarn, I think you should attack the Commander with all the strength you've got, and Nyx, you tear that bastard's soul into as many lopsided chunks as you damn well see fit!" Zepher Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) OoC: In previous rounds, Phil's Shield Ability has not been affected by Lyon's SP. This was a normal old hit, though. Edited July 19, 2012 by Zepher Quote
CMP Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 That probably explains it, then. Sorry, I'm used to the only Shields rolled in this battle belonging to Phil. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Seeing the crazy look in the Rogue Commander's eyes as a result of Atramor's Hexing, Tarn confidently assaulted him from the front row. "We almost have this, keep up the pressure!" Quote
Pandora Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Feeling much better, Nyx draws herself up to her full height (in heels) and switches her Healing Staff for her Book. Atramor's cackle draws her attention. "Nyx, you tear that bastard's soul into as many lopsided chunks as you damn well see fit!" "I'm on it, Atters, don't worry. " She concentrates, focuses, hoping that the tide of battle had indeed turned. She must help finish this. Whorls of Darkness emanate from her Book as she attempts to direct them towards Lyons from the back row. Quote

CMP Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) Atramor's assuredness after the last round is splintered as Nyx is stunned and injured, their enemies encouraged, and and he fails to heal Phil. "Gah...we're gonna get slaughtered if we take even a scratch, healed or not...but I can't waste this turn..." "Then perhaps you should take a different perspective." He glares slightly as McCafferey, still boredly observing the fight. But both she and Tarn were correct, what else was there to do? His fingers found the hilt of Ratsbane, and ripped the dagger sharply from its sheath, jagged, glimmering blade having not tasted blood once in the battle. He sprinted at Rogue Lion Commander B, however, and swung the weapon upwards towards his face from the front row, knowing this was his last chance to do so. CMP Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 You labelled Tarn as having rolled Special Damage, but I don't think that's the case. Atramor nearly stumbles backward with the sudden burst of magic, and while pleased to see the Commander once again under his control, he's stricken with horror as Tarn is thrown off the knight's blade. With a hiss, he springs again at the hexed Rogue Lion Commander from the front row. "Heroes, you will fall with Dastan. The Lions will prevail, and I will live, and we will raise above you all as the rightful leaders. The Lions! Ho ho ho! You have chosen the wrong side, heroes! Ho ho ho! You will watch as I rise above you all, along with Sir Loren, and Sir Laurant, and Lord Lucan will spit on your burning bones, and Sir Lamorak and I will piss upon them! Ho ho ho! You will burn, heroes, with Drakencourt, with this relic of oppressive power-" "We haven't the time for all this," says Phil simply, and raises his great hammer. He then sweeps it down into Lyons' face. There is a crunching sound. His helmet flies off. Phil picks up Lyons' sword. As the heroes stop focusing on the ramblings of the dying Lion Knight, they hear around them the sounds of invasion. The enemy has entered the city, there is no doubt, through thousands of tunnel entrances. People cry out. There are fires in the distance. Smoke billows upwards. "Sorry, but time was dying. Didn't have the time for a death rattle. Listen to me, heroes. We must fall back to the palace immediately. We have no time. The people of Dastan can and will defend themselves. They will be crushed not by the death of hundreds of their peers, but rather that of the Emperor. Especially once we release that Emeraldo is a traitor to the public. We must protect Emperor Septrine, even if we lose citizens. That's the rough truth of the situation." There is a sudden flash of light and Vipera's voice is in their heads, urgent. <Hans and Poletad will be unable to make it to the palace. I have ordered them to take refuge. They have done so. I can not see in Dastan Prison. It has surely been entered, and Blackenord had returned to freedom. I can not tell if Felton is alive or dead. I will tell the heroes outside the city to return as soon as there is a clear path for them to the palace. You must move immediately to arrive at the palace. Your routes will be cut off shortly by invading forces.> "Alright, let's get moving then, heroes." "I will not accompany you to the palace, Victor." "Mallelio?!" "I must go do something else, my sweetest girl. I have seen two leaders of the Dragon Knights killed in the last few days. The remaining Dragon Knights need direction. I can make it through the battle to them, and rally them at the palace. You heroes will need reinforcements. You need to get the King and Ella through to the palace. Do not argue, heroes. I need you all here, protecting Ella and the Emperor." Mallelio turns confidently and disappears down an alley way as Phil leads the heroes directly to the palace. Vipera has timed their move correctly, and they run into no Lion Knights. Phil gets to the doors and waits at them, allowing all the heroes inside, then slamming them shut. He passes the heroes a map of the palace. "Think you can defend it?" asks Phil wearily, but with his grim smile still on his face. "And which of you wants that old goat's sword?" CMP Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) My power should be 30, and Nyx/Tarn should be fully healed due to Natural Respite. Also, which classes are Lion's Heart suitable for? Atramor opens his mouth to deliver a degrading, humiliating retort to Lyons, but it's cut short at 'I' when Phil splatters the knight's head, and instead he laughs sharply, watching the rest of the heroes wearily get to their feet. The fiery blade of guilt for most of their unconcious is pushed to the side. "We'll have to look for Felton when this hell's over. Only hope he was able to get out or was left behind..." He nodded at Mallelio in understanding, an unspoken 'good luck', and quickly healed both Phil and himself, grumbling at his own inability to draw blood as Vipera ushered them to the palace, McCafferey settling yet again on his shoulder. The glow of his his hands sputtered away due to lack of ether, and he mumbled even more indistinct curses as he was forced to pull the Ether Core out of his cloak. "....So...am I supposed to eat this, or...?" Atramor barely had a moment to think as it dissolved in his hands, restoring his magical energy. He shuddered at the odd feeling, but used the ether to heal Thothwick and William leaving him with 7. So occupied was he, when he next looked up the group had arrived in the palace. He blinked, glancing around impatiently, and then descended on the map. "All looks good to me. Where exactly's the entrance? We should cut them off before they get more'n 10 steps in here." Fixed. Also: impressive playing through the rail-roading. "Sorry, there must be a smudge, these double doors right here are connected to that most southern corridor. You can see, if you-" There is a thud on the door. Phil raises his hammer and thrusts it open. The heroes are relieved to see their allies, the heroes from Quest 31. "Is Alandri here and safe?" "He had left the wall before the enemies arrived. He is in the palace." "Where am I most needed?" <Your men have rallied outside the northern wall. Sir Lyonel has fallen, he is wounded badly and cannot lead. You are needed.> "I will protect the Emperors. Thank you for your assistance." Phil lowers his hammer and shakes Leofard's hand. "It has been a pleasure serving with you. You, Leonard and all your men have proven that the blood of Dastan is still strong in the Lion Knights. You are noble fighters. We were wrong to have thrown you out. I wish only that you had returned on invitation, instead of chasing after renegades." Leofard bows bravely and then closes the door on the heroes, Phil, Ella, and Emperor Septrine. Before anyone can act, however, Vipera's voice rings out one more time. <Your final allies have arrived.> The heroes of Quest 29 stumble in, followed by Nikolai and the Rito. "Are we all here?" "All who can make it." The heroes look around. They are not, as it first appeared, in that bad of shape. To free the NPC, you must kill the enemy holding them. 4) Because there are so many players and this battle could go on forever, one of the three QMs will run the battle every 24 hours (or as close as we can get). If you have not posted within that time-frame, we will pick what we believe to be the best action for you. We cannot, however, force you to use consumables, so if you are close to a KO we will either have you sit the round out, or attack if there would be a free-hit that would get you in the case that you didn't attack. 5) Red rooms on the maps mean stairs. They are the only way to get from floor to floor. Entering a stair "room" takes a turn, and then you may proceed on your next turn to move into the corridor on either of the floors. 6) For Quest 30 players only: if Emperor Septrine is taken out of the Palace, you fail the quest. *Please note, the entrance is on the first floor on the southern wall. It opens into the south most corridor. "We've got a few commands of business to attend to, first, however. One of you party leaders has got to organize the whole operation. We'll let you figure out which one. Then you've all got to station yourselves in the palace. I'm personally going to take up station in the foyer before the throne room. We have sent word to Alandri, asking him to prepare himself. He has stowed himself in his own wing. Septrine and will remain in the throne room. Center of the palace, most protected spot. Also, we cannot currently get into Emeraldo's Wing, so you may not station yourselves there. Heroes with Nikolai, you must enter that wing and kill Emeraldo. It is time he answered for his crimes. I fear if we win and let him live, he will flee through the tunnels." "Ella will not stay with me. She will be placed in her study. If the enemy reaches me, I want her far away. They will come to my throne room. They will not bother her study. Lock the door, dear, and wait until everything is done. I love you." "I will do as you command, father. I love you too." Ella turns to the heroes bravely. "Be strong, fight bravely, may there be fire in your hearts." Ella walks off towards the Septrine wing of the palace. <I will be able to coordinate your movements. I can tell you where the enemy are, and how many.> "Prepare yourselves, heroes." JUST TO RECAP for you poor buggers, here are your current duties. 1) Party leaders, divide all that loot you just got. 2) Party leaders, pick your ULTIMATE party leader. 3) All players, place yourselves in any room of the palace (excluding those of Emeraldo's Wing). Remember your objective (Q:29 - Take down Emeraldo/Protect Nikolai) (Q:30 - Protect Emperor Septrine) (Q31 - Protect Alandri). Edited July 21, 2012 by Zepher Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) OoC: Would it be possible to have the NPC's that need to be protected current locations marked on the map? Also are the enemies already in the fortress or will they be coming and if so can they come from anywhere or are there only specific entrances? Also Isabella, Alexandre, and myself should all have one more Fire Bomb I believe and I should have the blessed and lucky effects. Skrall surveyed the crowd, a few clerics, mages, a barbarian or two, and quite a few rogues. "Is anyone particularly familiar with the fortress's layout? I think however we choose to all split up, we should balance the skill sets available to us i.e. each of the main Parties should have a cleric with them, while smaller more self-sufficient individuals should be scattered among the smaller rooms just in case of ambushes. Luke I would suggest you consume one of yer tonics." Edited July 21, 2012 by Waterbrick Down Quote
CMP Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Dang. A few questions, as you might guess. Does this all count as one battle? (Mostly asking because of effect-based stuff, but I'm also wondering if each room is a separate battle that players move into/out of.) We get decide if/where we move, rather than the ultimate PL, correct? Also, if he is part of the battle, does Phil get to be controlled? "Well, I s'pose this is really it, then, eh?" Atramor can't help but stare at the fully assembled heroes and their help. He tapped on the map with a crooked finger, thoughts pouring through his mind on where to station himself. "If anyone wants to take my advice, I think we should try and block 'em off at the Great Hall and the Corridors connected to the entrance for as long as we can hold out, while a few of whoever goes and finishes this traitor. I for one intend to make my stand at the Great Hall. Give each of those bastards a taste of venom before they go wandering around... And as much as I'd love patchin' up paper cuts and trying to save people from death, my crappy amount of ether's not gonna be much good healing-wise." Edited July 21, 2012 by CallMePie Quote

Also Isabella, Alexandre, and myself should all have one more Fire Bomb I believe and I should have the blessed and lucky effects. Will get that map to you tomorrow. Emeraldo is already somewhere in his wing. You don't know where. The others will be entering. The main entrance is on the bottom wall into that main corridor below the Great Hall. The enemies may be entering from anywhere, no way to really know... though, you know, the entrance would be easier for them to enter through than the walls. Added the fire bombs to the other two, forgot you, sorry. You're correct about the lucky and blessed as well, forgot it was not used up in the hex battle. This counts as one battle. You decide all your actions, as always. The PL just does the 21 character BO. Phil will remain under my control for the battle. He will act predictably, don't worry. You may, as always, shout suggestions. Sometimes my NPCs take suggestions, sometimes they don't. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Tarn, mind reeling from the sequence of events since his KO, spoke softly to Atramor. "I would love to get my hands on that bastard's sword." He then spoke aloud to the other heroes. "It is good to see everyone's again. I will follow the orders of any one of you party leaders, but we must keep the Emperor and Ella safe." Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Skrall glanced down at the map. "Corridors just lovely," he thought to himself. "Tis true Barbarian but we must also ensure that we are not over-run by allowing the enemy to move freely about the castle while we wait for them to come to us. Luke could ya let Cronk use one of yer tonics and would ya mind healin' up that Barbarian with the axe, Tarn I think your name was right? If any of you have got a Nostrum handy, I would suggest givin' it to a Barbarian, they're goin' to need all the luck they can get goin' into a frenzy in close quarters like this. Likewise if you've any extra tonics to spare, make sure the clerics are all in fightin' order. What info do we have on this rogue emperor, how well is he guarded, so on and so forth." Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) "Aha, divvying up the loot, uh, how does this sound, fellows?" Mr. Harkenshire - Lion Knight Shield (For use when a Warden) Mr. Tarn - Lion’s Heart Ms. Nyx - 40 Gold The Witch - 40 Gold "As for electing an over-arching party leader, I - at the risk of sounding rude - would like to nominate myself 'not it'! As my Party can surely attest, I have difficulty juggling five heroes, Orang Pendek only knows what a kerfuffle I'd cause with this many!" OoC: Zepher, you've listed my Sabre and Shuriken as poisoned. Seeing as my Sabre hit someone last round, and my Shuriken didn't, shouldn't only my Shuriken still be poisoned? Pandora Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 The end of the last battle had been a bit of a blur; Nyx never really enjoyed being stunned, unless by an excess of Flaming Gumballs, but she'd acted on instict and had managed to hit Lyons in the face before he fell, and now she found herself where she needed to be, so it was all cool. Now, surrounded by the myriad of heroes she'd seen before, it was clear they all needed to work to a common purpose. She saw Nerwen again, with the Rito with the lovely wings nearby. "Ah, Nerwen, you got the helmet! It suits you; looks really nice! " Nyx grins widely at the various other heroes she knows well. Aside from seeing so many warriors together, she also managed to catch a glimpse of her first dragon, which was even cooler than the winged Rito. She'd have been really disappointed to traipse all the way out to Dastan and not even see a dragon. The discussions and battle plans start, but with so many people to organise, this was going to be a bit like herding cats. An impressively large and wise sounding ogre starts making suggestions, and Nyx thinks the party could do well to be led by him. "Hello Mr Ogre, nice to meet you" Nyx almost shouts up at the Ogre so as to be heard "Hi, my name's Nyx, uhm I'm a Battle Mage, anyway could you also ask the other guy (Luke I think it was?) to heal me up too? As well as Tarn? I'm usually fighting fit for the next battle, but I'm not, so.... could you ask him to help me out please? Thank you " Nyx then pockets the 40 gold from Thothwick with a smile of thanks and fishes out a Tonic and the Dragon Scale. She knocks back the Tonic like a seasoned drinker, and studies the Dragon Scale thoughtfully until shrugging and starting to munch on it. "Yumm, tastes like chicken" she grins, eyeing Atramors chicken with a gleam. Quote
Chromeknight Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Nerwen nodded at the heroes that she knew, particularly Nyx, the battlemage. Noting that Nyx was asking for a healing, Nerwen heals Nyx. Looking around she was glad that the Rito had followed them in. It sounded like Dastan was now in chaos, and that the palace would be a difficult place to track Emeraldo down in. Knowing that things could get difficult, Nerwen handed her nostrum to Xander. Here, drink this, we will need all the luck we can get. Speaking to Sarick she said. Our party does not have any rangers. But I would like the precision bow if no one else does, I hope to take up archery as I become more proficient as a hero. I would forgo any gold in exchange. Denerii, meanwhile, was stalking a chicken that she had spotted in the midst of the heroes. Moving stealthily, she was hungry after the fight and was hoping for a tasty morsel. It's not clear what class Denerii the Rito is, but she is currently wielding a bow. I assume she could borrow the precision bow if I owned it and lent it to her? Capt.JohnPaul Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 "Greetings, we've all met now." Alexandre positions himself in the second floor armory, by the stairs and backs himself into the corner. Alexandre searches the armory around him for any weapons or items. Quote
