joeroy Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Hi admin, I have read throught all the topices before I came out this question. May I know why this place is name Eurobricks. I know this is stuipid and boring question it just that I am curious. Who know maybe one day this place will turn up to be famous websites. Quote
The Middleman Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 I'm pretty sure because this is supposed to be a site for European LEGO fans. Quote
Brickmaster Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 im pretty shure eurobricks is named that way for europe and bicks combined. Eurolego just doesnt sound right.Im not shure what a would name a website, but eurobricks is a great name. Quote
Orlego Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 joeroy, Most of the people on this site are from European countries including the founders Double T & Jipay so that is where they came up with the Euro part. The bricks part... well... it is a Lego fan site. Plus it is a cool name that was not bought yet by the URL resellers. ;) Quote
Jipay Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Yeah... Long story... Actually I'm from France... I was browsing fbtb without posting anything like usual (I didn't want to because nobody ever replyed to my posts) and I thougt "damn they have only american news, nobody is taking care of european AFOLs here." Well in fact nobody was taking care of non US AFOL there, but nonafolusbricks was bad. Well anyway, one day DoubleT posted because he thought it could be cool to have a european site. I replyed I was in because I know how to programm and have few knowledge about management and advertising (I'm studying business) so we started like this and because I was REALLY fed up with a website I won't name but which just plainly deserves the problems it has actually to face. A third guy from Polland helped us at first but disappeared I dunno why. He helped us a lot at first with the graphics (sometimes he briefly shows up on the forum and disappears... One of the Eurobricks legends). When it came to choose a name, we decided to go for Eurobrick. but because Eurobrick has been bought by some italian company, we added an s and went on with this cool name. Euro for Europe, Bricks for bricks. Dumb, clear, simple, perfect... I will allow you not to hear the rest of the story... Quote

Jipay Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Well we have a lot more. This is an interresting idea. Maybe we should start to writte the story of our board so people could immediatly get the jokes and the spirit, and anderstand why there is usch and such rules (even if we have none :-D ) Quote
Orlego Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Well... I guess my reply was close. I did not know there was a story behind it. :P ;) ;) Quote

mahjqa Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Also, The Lego Company will not allow individuals to just use the word 'Lego' in a website name and such unless you have a REALLY good reason for it. They don't want (potential) customers getting the idea that they are visiting an official Lego site, while it's actually a site where TLC has no control over. Hence also website names like 'bricklink.com' and 'brickshelf.com' Quote
ApophisV Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Lol, maybe the AFOLs should forbid the use of the word "fan" related with an official TLC page... (LegoFan) Potential AFOLs could think that THAT page shows how lega fans are... *devil* :D ;) Quote
