Capn Frank Posted March 16, 2007 Author Posted March 16, 2007 Ah yes, I see its coming along nicely... What's that small brown and tan ship to the left of it? That would be another MOC that my bro started that i may have to finish later. I think i'll make a thread on it soon, too focused on the Dame du Loup right now :) P Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 16, 2007 Governor Posted March 16, 2007 What's next for the Dame du Loup? You said you have some gaps to fill in the stern and railing, but what about the sails - anything on the horizon there? Quote
Dukesc Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 If you look closely at this picture you can see a skylight behind the steering wheels. It is even funtional, giving light to the inside of the rear cabin. How cool is that? The barrel on the top of it is how the ship is steered and it also turns the two steering wheels in front of it. *sweet* Duke Quote
El Bucanero Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Well well, The dame du Loup is really impressive as it is now. Must be more than 5 thousand bricks in it. Do you happen to know the weight of the ship?? I still don't know the reason why you chose this colour scheme. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I'm just wondering. Is it because you have a lot of white bricks? Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm too tired to skim all those 6 pages... Mr Tiber Quote

Oh yeah, it's gonna have sails, but i'm gonna get the hull done first ;-) Dunno if i'm gonna have paper or cloth sails. I think i'm going for paper :-P If you look closely at this picture you can see a skylight behind the steering wheels... I was wondering if someone would notice :-D Well well,The dame du Loup is really impressive as it is now. Must be more than 5 thousand bricks in it. Do you happen to know the weight of the ship?? Mr Tiber The center section weighs between 30-45 pounds (sorry don't know the conversion to kg :S ) I chose the color scheme cause those are the colors i have. i'd love to make a great french vessel with red like bonaparte's L'Orient, someday i will. :) O.K. I got some of the command crew for my fleet all on my stern X-D and here's how far i am on the stern right now: P Quote
Norrington Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Hehe heh... I am finally on the qaurter deck of your ship, and what a wonderful ship it is! And in other news, I just go back from Walt Disney World, and I went to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. I got the sound track (I allways need more piratical music to inspire me) I might be able to post the sound track's music here. Quote

El Bucanero Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 That's almost the entire EB Pirate crew on the ship! The stern is sooo impressing! I see Dream Web, Tiber, ZCerberus, Phes, Norrington, Sting, Baby Jawa, ApophisV, Phred, Evil Willy, Captain Roger and... Governor Broadside. I think the monkey on the flag is Suvied, but who's the viking? Norro? The striped pirate with the shovel is probably Mr. Smee: Mr Tiber Quote

Norro? The striped pirate with the shovel is probably Mr. Smee: I missed the monkey. Yes, definitely SurvieD. The Viking is Norro. You have to look in his signature, not his avatar to find the viking with the torch! I have not been acquainted with Mr. Smee... Quote

Norrington Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 So, any more changes to share with us Sir Phred? The ship is coming allong great, though one thing, is it going to have a poop deck (Any one who laughs at that is immature), or only a qaurter deck like now? Quote

The ship is coming allong great, though one thing, is it going to have a poop deck (Any one who laughs at that is immature), or only a qaurter deck like now? well i don't think i'll add a poop deck (i.e. a partial deck over the captains quarters i'm pretty sure) since it's based loosely off of the archeron which is based off of the uss constitution, it won't have one. In the pics i've seen of the uss constitution, the top deck just goes across the top of the whole ship without a partial deck. (don't have any good pics but here's a rough one of the constitution) P Quote

Mr Tiber I'm not sure if the Acheron was an exact copy, i just know the design of the archeron was based on the uss constitution (since they were both 44 gun frigates). I'd be very interested to know if anybody knows where a picture is of an actual French-44. I can't seem to find one online or in any of my brother's books. I've read in my brother's books that the French-44's and 36's were very well built, fast, and formidable frigates. P Quote

What's razeed? I'm sure the original French-44's were probably different from the 44's built by the US and England. As the French prided themselves at making good ships and not copy designs from other countries. Maybe the Constitution was designed with french assistance though. Maybe :-/ P Quote
