On a secret mission concerning a rumor of dwarves near the border, Jakorin Swiftsword departs alone from his castle in Anvilon to act as a spy. When he arrives at the border, he finds a deserted village that once served as the home for Avalonian nomads. Except it isn't deserted. It is filled with dwarves, all armed to the teeth. Discreetly, he maneuvers through the camp with almost inhuman speed, avoiding the gaze of the watchful dwarves. He sneaks up to the largest house, undoubtedly to be used for the dwarf in charge of the encampment. He darts in, and quietly closes the door behind him. He barely has time to look around for information when he hears three pairs of shuffling boots approach the porch. Jakorin scans the room in earnest, desperate to avoid capture. He gives a quick smile as his sight locks onto a large chest at the foot of the bed. He scrambles in just as the first dwarf turns the doorknob, and swings open the door.

Elder Dwarf: "The time is ripe, my brothers! The tunnel worked like a charm! The men and pointy ears don't even know we're here!"

Second Dwarf: "Indeed! Now we can crush the Drow without their interference!"

Third Dwarf: "With this camp as a safe fallback spot, we've finally taken a firm foothold in Avalonia! The Drow won't even know what hit them."

Elder Dwarf: "Are all the dwarves here ready for assault?"

Second Dwarf: "Yes, brother. They hunger for a brawl with the Drow!"

Elder: "Good! Tell them we march out within the week!"

The three dwarves shake hands and then exit the house for preparatins. Jakorin on the other hand, pops out of the chest, shock covering his face.

Jakorin: "These twisted little gnomes have pushed their beards in too far this time! I must get this information back home!"

Nice work, Jakorin!

The variations in the walls along with the woodwork make a nice looking house. I like the rafters and the chandelier, but it might look better with a roof on the rafters.

Jakorin was lucky to have found the chest empty just in time  .

A lto of interesting indoor building techniques and an interesting story. I really like this a lot. But what's best is the face hidden in the chest - pure genious, I would have never thought of that!

 Hiding in the chest! Looks amazing! Love all the details... the chandelier, the coatrack, all the various little items scattered around.

Thank you! It was really fun to make all that stuff. :classic:

Thanks! Avalonians are just that lucky.:laugh:

Thanks! That was my favorite part as well.

Sure it might look better with a full roof... but it sells the idea of an "abandoned village" better with the roof showing signs of falling into disrepair! The dwarves simply haven't had the time or inclination to patch up the roof of this building.

We dwarves may usually make our homes with solid stone over our heads, but a few holes in a wooden roof aren't gonna bother us much.

Very nice! Love the dude in the chest. And everything looks awesome.

Thank You!

Very nice build :) Love the guy hiding in the chest :)

Thanks!

Excellent idea using a face in the chest! Love the walls too- great colours.

Thanks a lot!

Well done, Jakorin!

The detailing is very nice, especially the head inside the chest. But, the walls certainly have to be my favorite part!

Thank you!

Awesome entry, Jakorin, I really like the walls, bed, rafters and chandelier :sweet:

Nice story and great idea of hiding in the chest!

Thanks!

Really good work on the interior here, the furniture is great and the inset walls add to it really nicely! The idea of hiding in the chest is brilliant as well!

Just the title had me smiling. The only song I like on any country radio station, because it barely qualifies as country.

The build itself, a superb feat of balance, solid techniques, and a spirited story.

That older dwarf must be rather farsighted to miss an open chest, as dwarves are known for their security when it comes to their more 'personal' items.

Thank you! True, or my character is just that skilled.

Very nice details in the wall, especially your trademark wood framing. Also, I really like how you showed the roof

Thanks!

There's a lot to look at here, especially with the 16x16 size. Well done

Thanks a lot!

Great work! Really like this beautiful interior; well done on the half-timbered look. And nice furniture too!

You have great details all through the build. I really like the white and tan walls. Great texture you've acheived there! The most amazing part to me is that this feels like a much bigger build, but you've managed it with 16x16! Great work!
