Admiral Blockbeard Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 As i have posted before i am going to be making a fleet from Denmark, i am doing this due to my ancestry... A ship with my great great great Grandfather and Grandmother were on, the 'Alfred' was fired upon by a Dane Man of War called 'Meander' while leaving Humburgh Germany, I plan this ship to be my 'flagship', i will have six other ships to go with it but lost for some good names. Hoping you guys can help me out! Also some officers names would be appreciated... Eventually, a story will be written about the army and some of their adventures. Look forward to your replies ...Geo... Quote
oDDerFisken Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 (edited) I'm a dane, so i can give you a lot of danish names, if you wan't to. Olfert Fischer Saelen These two are actual ships in the danish navy as far is i'm aware. Most ships have female names, so do you want some of them? For officer names: Henrik Ulrik Jens Klaus/Claus S Edited March 27, 2008 by oDDerFisken Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 27, 2008 Governor Posted March 27, 2008 You should bring this thread to the attention of Eurobricks co-founder, DoubleT. He's Danish and I'm sure he'd love to give you some suggestions. Quote
Admiral Blockbeard Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 (edited) Hmm thanks allot oDDerFisken, i believe you just named two of my ships, Saelen and Fischer, ironically in English they sound like sailing and fisher... lol Ulric, and Jens are now two of my lieutenants, my commanders are Jorgensen, and Henrik... and yes i would love for you to come up with more... i need 6 marine lieutents I have found this websight on the battle of Copenhagen, with a little adjustment in times and ship names this is to be the basis of my story... http://www.britishbattles.com/waterloo/battle-copenhagen.htm from this sight i have named my remaining four boats, Holsteen, Wagrien, Jylland and Nyborg Thus my Fleet, is Meander (Flagship) A MOC that is a WIP, with six mid sections Saelen, Holsteen, that will be this ship Wagrien, Nyborg, these will be these ships Jylland, Fischer finally these will be the smaller ships *Note i will be custom making sails and flags for the ships* Edited March 28, 2008 by Cpt. oDDerFisken Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Okay here comes some more: Svend Karl Johan Herner Hemming Henning Tell me if you want's more, or if these doesn't fit you officers.. I've got lots. And tell me if you want the names to be shorter or longer if there's something speciel you want. Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 As i have posted before i am going to be making a fleet from Denmark, i am doing this due to my ancestry... Pegleg Blockbeard doesn't sound very Danish :) You could try Lt Billund. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 29, 2008 Governor Posted March 29, 2008 Billund just conveniently being the name of the town where the LEGO Group headquarters is located. I think it's quite a clever idea actually. Quote
Admiral Blockbeard Posted April 3, 2008 Author Posted April 3, 2008 (edited) I have finished the custom sails, a bit over loaded with uni work, and i will be off to SYDNEY for a few days with my sister getting married, so you will have to wait for pictures... Edited April 3, 2008 by Cpt. Pegleg Blockbeard Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 3, 2008 Governor Posted April 3, 2008 What? You think a family wedding is an excuse not to post pictures? Ok, so it is... X-D Quote
Admiral Blockbeard Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 okay so this is just a sneek peek at the ships... minus one... the best is yet to come... before anybody says anything about the quality of the photo i must say this... it took it literally as i was walking out the door and it was on my phone... i think it looks good for a sneek peek, kind of like boats emerging from the mist... so, with out further ado i present to you the Amarda Billund minus the Meander (flagship)... we have from left to right A fishing/war vessel, (troops have gotta eat right?) - Jylland Then we have Wagrien, and in the middle Saelen, and Holsteen, then mirroring out to the right is Nyborg, and Fischer... Will post better pictures soon, along with the crew and officers. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 10, 2008 Governor Posted June 10, 2008 That's an impressive looking fleet, but how many of those ships are actually made from LEGO? Quote
Admiral Blockbeard Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 (edited) Unfortunately Mister Phes the complete fleet is clone bricks, they are not mocs, they are the design of the company's designs *cough* actually lego's design *cough*, sorry, seem to have a cough at the moment... the Meander is the companies design again, however it copies the basic design of Lego and the bsb... I have slightly MODed them by giving white paper sails and in the case of the meander a table, and skelly at the front... Here are the pic's of crew and meander, the entire fleet shots will come later... for more blurry pics here is the BS Gallery (wait for it to be public...) Also GREAT news soon to be added is a MODed CC, YES actual LEGO!!! !!! it is to be the fleets treasure ship! and i need a new camera... Edited June 13, 2008 by Cpt. Pegleg Blockbeard Quote
KimT Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Perhaps You should reconsider Saelen (The Seal) as a name since it's a submarine: also Olfert Fischer might be a little off: It's a Corvette (?): Just thought You might like to know KimT Quote
Admiral Blockbeard Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 i see the resemblance don't you :pir-grin: :pir-grin: hmm, you have a point, maybe you also have a suggestion on a few different names... regards Cpt. PB Quote

PB There is for example Jylland (Jutland) a frigate that still exists. That could be a possibility Also a Danish frigate was named Freja after the Norse gods KimT Quote
Admiral Blockbeard Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 Jylland is a great suggestion only i already have a boat in the fleet with that name :pir-skull: Freja, i realy realy like that!! thanks KimT! what are some more Norse gods? Cpt. PB Quote

Cpt. PB Mkay You asked for it: Thor Odin Loke Frigg Balder Tyr and then there's the big bad wolf (literally) Fenrir. There's plenty more...I just can't remember them right now KimT Quote
Tordenskjold Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Hi folks The last sea battle in Norway was between the Najaden(a 42gun frigate) in the Danish/Norwegian fleet and the british ship of the line HMS Dictator. Najaden was sunk on Lyngør Harbour 12july 1812. During the union between Denmark and Norway it had one fleet. So my suggestion for a name would be just Najaden. Quote
