JopieK Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 A revival of Rock raiders sounds ok to me. However, I wish TLG would explore ideas beyond mining and drilling in their space/sci-fi themes. I mentioned terra-forming in another thread. There could be hydroponics greenhouses, cargo docks, surface seeders/conditioners/harvesters, power and atmospheric generators, med bays, etc. Well, sound like you have some pretty concrete idea's to tickle TLG with :) Quote
Racer-18 Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Very interesting, will be interesting to see how they look. I personally think it's a bit too closely related to Mars Mission, but that's just my view. Excited about Lego Racers and Bionicle though. Quote
Shoc Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I do believe I have not posted in this topic yet. I think this sounds interesting, we will know more when there are pictures though. Just keep in mind, it does sound like the really great theme of Rock Raiders, but it is set on the planet Earth, whereas Rock Raiders was most definately not. :skull: Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Yeah that would be awesome. And now my mind drifts into a world of steampunked vehicles While I agree it would be amazing, I can't see TLC going it I'm not sure steampunk is mainstream enough with children to allow it. I'd love to be proved totaly wrong though. Quote
Shoc Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 While I agree it would be amazing, I can't see TLC going it I'm not sure steampunk is mainstream enough with children to allow it. I'd love to be proved totaly wrong though. While I have a feeling Power Miners won't be any more Steampunk than Mars Mission, Steampunk's not exactly too violent or too extreme, it would probably be fine, and better, if Power Miners are Steampunk. :skull: Quote
randomparrot Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 (edited) I remember rockraiders when i was younger but i hop these sets are different. Edited September 3, 2008 by randomparrot Quote
metalandi Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 aayla-secura already posted pictures HERE. Quote
Eilif Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 aayla-secura already posted pictures HERE. Thanks for that. No doubt now that Power miners is Rock raiders 2.0. It's interesting to see some technic and bionicle elements incorporated in this new line. However, I'm still undecided about wether or not I'm interested in this line. I really hope that we are seeing sand green in the pics, because if it's some neon'ish color then I will likely not be picking up any of these. Quote
The Kid Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Ugh... not liking it at all from these pics, but then again these are bad quality, prelim stuff. I'll wait until better pics come along. TK Quote
Brainbox Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Ugh... not liking it at all from these pics, but then again these are bad quality, prelim stuff. I don't know. I think they look okay. Some of them look a bit, you know, but some of them look quite nice. The small drilling machine looks pretty neat. The mech looks a bit weird though, with the strange hips. They are a bit difficult to make out in places though, so I may change my mind when we get more pictures. And they're preliminary, so subject to change. Quote
phoinix Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 it reminds me of the first mars mission sets. everyone was expecting them to be great...but they were terrible... the second wave was a lot better of course... anyhow.. im not liking them at all.. but then i never liked this kind of things... Quote
Klonoa Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Well, I think I like the Rock Raiders more because of the colors, but these certainly look interesting too. I'm definitely going to have to wait for better pictures though before I make a judgement. Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 They look like toys from the 80s Might have to pick some up. Quote
Bundalings Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I'm not too sure about the color scheme... sand green and red? Doubtless great MOCing parts, (I see some handy Bionicle recolors as well) but I'm not sold on those colors put together. I guess I'll wait for better pics before I get hypercritical. Great parts though... ~Bunda Quote
Kliq Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I don't mind the colors, prelim. or not. Pretty cool that they went with a mostly vehicle line. The largest vehicle looks pretty cool, from what you can see. I would really like to see a base of some sort. I'm not too impressed by the technic pieces, but they do kind of make the models look a bit more 'industrial' if I had to give a bright side. Not too bad, overall. Probably better pics will clear some things up. Quote
Hewman Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 On first appearances it looks like maybe Lego are triyng to appeal to their exoforce market. On these pics they don't appeal to me at all. They just look like city construction sets with a few extra colours and add-ons, but I will reserve final judgement until better pics come through. Quote
Tenorikuma Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 It's hard to be certain, but judging from the pictures, the models appear to have a lot of Technic functionality, possibly combined with Lego's new power blocks (hence the Power Miners moniker). That alone would set the new line apart from any previous city or space line. Quote
darkrebellion Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Well, the line just not appeal to me at all . I think the biggest set is cool but all the others look... just not as good as rock raiders . Quote
M'Kyuun Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) It's a bit early to declare any vehemence one way or the other. My first impression is that they look like Playmobil until you zoom in, which is , in a way, a complement to the construction. The color scheme is a bit bland with the lime and red. I'm not a fan of brown, but the Rock Raiders had a good color scheme for earth moving vehicles. The lime green is appropriate, I guess, since it is widely used for earth moving equipment around the world; after all, it's harder to miss a giant bright green vehicle instead of one that's earth toned if you just happen to be in its path. There's a lot of technic going on there, so I imagine there will be a high degree of functionality, or power functions , as Tenorikuma already mentioned. While I'm not overwhelmed, I am curious to see more and await clearer pics and descriptions. Edited September 4, 2008 by M'Kyuun Quote
Naith Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 At first glance im not 100% on this new line, but saying that I felt the same when i first saw the agents prelim shots so I will have to wait for a better quality picture to make my decision Quote
randomparrot Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Thats a shame i was really looking forward to those Quote
hollisbrick Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 The pics are..mm well I'll give my final opinion when I see them in real life or at least better pics I would have rather that the veciles were in brown or at least not a light light colour Once again I'll wait for better pics Quote
Heir of the Chronicler Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 While I, like many of you, will wait for final pictures before giving it an or , I can tell you right now that green + neon orange + shoddy technic construction + white and blue figures = BAD, BAD omen. (For sets, at least. As someone said, probably great MoCing mines.) - Heir Quote
Canticleer blues Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 It's hard to say anything about these pictures. Guess I'll wait for better pics too, then... Quote
