Kooky. I admit that the 2001 Toa had more complex bodies, but these guys make up for it in posability with knees and elbows. Like 2001, their masks are pretty damn nice n' oldskool too. I'm not going to compare them to Nuva, because those guys blew megablocks compared to the 2001 Mata, at least that's how I've always felt about them. And it must have to Lego as well, for we never saw those shitty, melted blobs of plastic napalm burning on their face ever again. EDIT: OH MY GOD, I just noticed something wonderful about all these sets! Not ONE of them has an asymmetrical mask! All their heads are going to be able to be used as armor! Kanohi Ignika Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Always did took CGI of actual set packaging to convince me :p Though the Av-Packs don't appeal to me that much (as new line packaging), I must say that the CGI department did a great job on diversifying the backgrounds for our elemental themed Glatorians. Particularly Raanu, Malum, Metus and Straak! The fire castle and the ice cave looks marvelous (self induced names for settings), hopefully even more so in the movie! -Iggy

Although with the new lighter more compact guns, and the fact that they look more melee-ish, I probably wouldn't have minded so much. :) But still: Woohoo finally good pics woohoo!

And more importantly, this means that we have reached the final stage of the pictures. All that is left is actual sets to show up in stores. I was thinking they might be earlier because the pics came earlier. Remember the Piraka? Those prototype pics came in October and the Piraka arrived early December. The Glatorian pics came WAY earlier, so I'm thinking late November...

Wrinkledlion X Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 AAAWWWWESOME I've never seen backgrounds this good. 2001 practically sucks in comparison with this. Look at that fire-castle! Jesus! I notice that the staircases all lead to some sort of light source. This is especially noticeable on Gresh's canister... Reminds me of the temples behind the Turaga, but with the variety of the Toa's backgrounds. I love how ethereal Terix and Berix's backgrounds are, as well. Oh, and thank you, Fero, for showing off Skrall's head from that angle. He has an awesome head. The one thing I dislike is that on Tarix and Skrall the Thornax are attached a bit awkwardly. When I get Skrall I know I'll be moving the launcher to his forearm, like on the prototype. (He's still my favorite one, though!) And yes, actual brown! But seriously, based on the look of these guys I can't help but feel that they're demigods or something.

Look closely at the pic of Strakk: Under the Inika armor, you can see a little blue 1-long-pin-with-stud snapped into the Metru hips that keeps the Inika armor from flopping about! Hooray! I was right about how to build Strakk, and how Lego was gonna fix the floppy Inika armor... I feel so smart. ^_^ ~Bunda

I don't like the eye effect in the CG, but he's still pure bad-assery. Strakk: Ice-blue!!! I love it! The new armour will be useful in rahi. Tarix: Gold! And I like how he has the launcher attached with an old joint on top of the new hand. Pretty spiffy! Malum: Okay, he just got a whole lot cooler. I was iffy when those small CG pics came out, but now, with those weapons, He might be the first of the fire sets so far to be on my wishlist. Skrall: WAAAAAY awsome. The spidery thing means that we can use more imagination and our own creatures as adversaries!!! Atakus: Glow in the dark?!?!? On an impulse set?!?!? That guarantees him. Berix: ....maybe. He's pretty neat, but the face might bug me. Zesk: Cooler than the rest!!!! Metus: The cool new mask is great, and I love the shield. New parts AND RECOLORS! Raanu: Not as cool as Malum, but still okay Tarduk: once again-batlike. I'm beginning to think that the Jungle element will be VERY unique. On another noe, the black-yellow mix color on the madu Thornax fruits is pretty neat-O

It might show something relevent to the story. EDIT: Look closely at the tops of the masks- they all have little indents like the original masks. I'm curious as to WHY they are each so important. What could it be that Mata Nui has that this universe needs, and why could he not exist without them... AHA! Mata Nui need these beings because the are the only ones who can help him in a crisis, and they need him because his duty was to fight the evil that now spreads over this new universe. Greg DID say that MN had a greater purpose...

Very neat. The only thing that could REALLY make me go more kookoo for Cocoapuffs at this point is if we hear of mask packs coming back. I'd need a triple heart bypass, but I'd not complain. Can't wait to see what happens next. There's still some sets in store for 2009, yes? I think it's a fake, because the set list we got said Mata Nui is a canister set. And is anyone going to post the "Makuta massacre" scene here!?!

The mask is awesome 9 / 10 Tarduk : The pic is making him look a bit better tham before... 8 / 10 Berix : Better and better, the mask is original. 8 / 10 Metus : Improved mask...love the snowflake. He is the first small set that has new molded tool! 9 / 10 Zesk : Good, good, very creative. 8 / 10 Skrall : I still don´t get this 3rd wrist but nonetheless, he is a good set. Anyone noticed that life counter on his foot? 7 / 10 Malum : He is still the most awesome red set... 9 / 10 Gresh : The best canister set... 10 / 10 Tarix : Nothing special about this set, the gold pieces and his mask are the only things that save him. 7 / 10 Strakk : Where is the grin that made him so cool on the very first picture? 8 / 10 Vorox : He stole Hewkii´s weapon but the mask is cool so... 7 / 10 Fero & Skirmix : They totally look like the SE set...Fero probably has Skrall´s mask but they look decent. 8 / 10 Tuma : Awesome colors, awesome mask. 10 / 10
