I Scream Clone Posted October 23, 2008 Author Posted October 23, 2008 Definitely black! Im happy for Sandy to use Sand Green if that is all she has, but if anyone who has black please use it. Quote
Dragonator Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Definitely black! Im happy for Sandy to use Sand Green if that is all she has, but if anyone who has black please use it. A Sand Green goes pretty well with black anyway, so it wont matter. I'll personally be using black. Quote
Pickerel Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 One more thing; season! Is it going to be snowy, have autumn leaves on the ground, be hot and dry, or full of greens? I think it should be spring or winter. Pickerel Quote
Stol Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 (edited) So this weekend i decided i was going to take my first shot at the Mason's Guild. I took it to pretty much be a Stone Cutter sort of thing, So let me know what you guys think of it. These are the characters... The right is the Master Mason holding his chisel while the left is his apprentice holding a small slab of marble..... We'll start with the back view with the outside wall. (Thanks to Thrash for the wall design) OK so this is the Front with the roof attached to it. I decided to go with a non black roof with a little bit of texture to it. Also note the two marble columns with a somewhat statue-esque piece topping both of them. Here is the front with the roof detached. Key things to note are that I made my Master Mason be in the middle of the creating a marble statue and if you look on the wall I attempted to include the circle inscribed in the pyramid (Common Masonic Symbol) This final picture is simply the top view. You can see the Mason creating his statue. You can also see the apprentice getting ready to begin work on a small slab of marble. Also you can see an extra slab of marble being stored. Let me know what you guys think. Here's the link for when the folder becomes public Brickshelf Album Edited November 3, 2008 by Stol Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 This looks real nice! I love how you construct the wall and roofs design. Perhaps, you could resize those pictures to 640x480. There are too big for other members whom is on a slow connection. Thanks. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted November 3, 2008 Author Posted November 3, 2008 Well done Stol! I really like the carving of the statue out of the marble. The wall pattern is nice but may need a brighter colour some where to lift it from the rest of the building. I really like the white marble columns, very appropriate for the Mason's. Great figure choice too. Now I must find the time to build mine too.... Quote
Erdbeereis Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Great work Stol! I love how you made it look like the statue is coming out of the marble. The minifigs also look very appropriate. I agree with ISC that it would be nice to have some dark grey accents in the wall, for some extra detail. Nice job! Now I must find the time to build mine too.... Same here . I keep meaning to start but I'm still putting the finishing touches on my PtV entries and haven't had much time. I'll get to it eventually though! Quote
Erdbeereis Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Presenting my first module, the bakery! I wanted it to have a cozy feel, so I tried to use a warm color scheme. Enjoy! Flickr Page Thanks! Quote
Stol Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Looks great Erdbeereis1, I love the roll on the outside as a sign! a terrific addition to our build Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Erdbeereis1, its wonderful to see a bakery. Another great addition into the community build. Now, I know where your sigfig is living. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted November 8, 2008 Author Posted November 8, 2008 Very nice bakery set up, perhaps some more french bread like 3 brown cylinders together would fill the back corner. Or a bag of flour made from these and tile on top. I like the wall, and the patchwork clay build of the Bakery too. Bravo, another great addition. ISC Quote

Thrash Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 That looks great Erdbeeries. I can't wait to see what it looks like once you add a few more details like ISC suggested...then it will be perfect. One other suggestion I would make is to add a chimney. You might have a reason for not having one, but I think that if you add one it will make it look even more like a bakery, since the chimneys for the ovens, in my mind, are one of the defining features of the outside of a bakery. ~Thrash Quote

Unfortunately I used all of my brown and tan round 1x1s, so I can't do that either, but I might try to do a chimney. Quote
Guss Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 haha that's a nice bakery, I just miss a window to it but you don't really can makes one^^ and I just noticed, where is the chimney for the smoke ? and , what is this cross for ? my girlfriend thought it was a chapel at first look ^^ Quote
Lalande Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 (edited) I decided to join the Alpha thread to show off my falconer's home and mews! Overview: This is the falconer's mews. There are perches on either side with sand underneath (for the bird excrement...). The falconer is feeding the falcon from a lure (birds wings attached to fresh meat on a string). On the shelves are, (starting at the top) a jess with bells, a falcon's hood and below are leather gauntlets. The falconer's mews again. The dog, who has been with the falcons since puppyhood, is patiently waiting for a share of the food. Note the jess with bells on one of the falcon's legs. The cadger is on his way out the door. This is a close up of the old man holding a cadge, a frame on which the falcons are carried. This is the origin of the word "codger". The falconer lives above the mews. Here is his wife taking care of their baby. They are aristocrats and their numerous colorful clothes hang from pegs around the walls. There is a cage under the eaves with a mouse in it (to feed the birds). The falconer's son will someday take his father's place as falconer. He sleeps in the attic (note the trap door). from left to right, the cadger, the falconer with his falconers bag and a lure, the falconer's wife with their baby and the falconer's son Edited November 9, 2008 by Lalande Quote

There was also a small empty space there that I wanted to fill. Like I said, I might still add a chimney. Great work on the falconer Lalande! Quote
jifel Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Well, here is my Armory. I actually made it only 11 high, but I can easily fix that. Here it is! NOTE: This is a WiP, I will change it and Post these changes. Front view: Side view: Other side: Back (wall) view: Top of wall: Side/Top of wall: Roof (the armorer keeps older weapons on top of the roof, and arranged for his son to be at the wall next to it, so nobody will steal them) : The crest on the roof: Inside of shop, no roof: Armoror and his son: Final view: Thts it (for now) jifel Quote
Dragonator Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 It's great to see all the awesome builds coming in! Time for some comments. Lalande, that is a really cool Falconer's Mews. You've included some really nice details such as the pigeon droppings (), the feeder, and the colourful cloaks on the second floor. I really like how you did the baby as well. jifel, your armoury is very neat, although there is one slight problem in that your wall is a stud to far in. Check the first post of the main thread for the wall Standard, it shouldn't be to hard to fix. Other than that, it looks very nice, I like the "cluttered" feel it has to it. Keep building guys! Quote
pedro Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Hi everyone, Just signed up for the Community Castle Build and glad to be onboard! I've opted to do the Money Changer/bank. I've built the castle wall and have almost completed the exterior of the building! Glad to see theres so much enthusiasm and great builds for this so far. Good stuff! ISC, I noticed tonight that the bank entry [15] is missing on the castle plan, replaced by tax collector? Can I still build a bank/Money Changer? Quote

No problem there, we had some debate over the naming of this module and we are happy to call it either. It gets a bit wishywashy in history as to when banks officially started. Ill put you down on that option. Quote

Thanks Erdbeereis1, I had fun researching falconers in the middle ages before making it. I love the croissant as a sign on your bakery!!!! Very creative. Quote
Guss Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 hellooo , I finished my version of the armoury , here it is ! I didn't make the left wall because it was supposed to be close to a big module, but if needed, I can make it ( but we will see nothing in it If I do it^^ ) I did it with some villains ( surely some people of the thief guild ^^ ) stealing the money that is kept at the first floor, by breaking the roof , they hit the guards very hard then stole his clothes, and now they're pushing him to the exterior to the castle, then they started to break the roof to go in and steal the money of the "armourer" ^^ meanwhile a girl is distracting the seller^^ here you can see the wall, with the poor guard being thrown away. you can see that the interior is full of stuff, the armours display can turn ( a little too modern maybe ? ) there is four armours there is a special armour just next to the armourer, there is a lot of stuff, and a fortified safe to keep his money on the 2nd floor : without the thieves : I uploaded a lot of pics, you can see all my pictures : HERE (click to access the gallery^^ ) I hope you enjoyed! jifel Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Very nice there, Guss! I like the Robbery part at the end! jifel Quote
Thrash Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 That's a great looking Armory that you've built Guss. My two favorite details are the spinning armor rack and the Thieves on the roof. That's a really cool idea to show some interaction between the various modules! I agree that you probably don't need a wall on the side next to the 32x32 module. In fact, it's a good idea to not have one to make it easier for people to view the interior when it's not connected to other modules. Even though we have two entries for the Armory now, I think that we should hold off on doing a poll since more people might want to make one. I guess what we should do is just wait until every module has been done and then post polls for anything with multiple entries. Keep up the great work Guss! What do you think you'll be doing next? ~Thrash Quote
