Sandy Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I finally got time to edit the photographs I took from my Castle Library, so here it is; my third module for the castle keep! The front, with a stoa-type of hallway that opens to the courtyard - not very medieval, but I thought it looked nice. View from above, in which you can see the three minifigs inside. Different sides of the module. Like in my earlier modules, the hallway can be separated from the room for better access and some switch-around. The hallway has some crests for decoration. And here's what the front door looks from the library (not very pretty). Here's a better look inside the library. There's parchment rolls on one wall... ... and a desk on the opposite wall. Here's a closeup on the scholars that study in the library. I know the library is bit on the small side, and I apologize for using dark grey with the walls, but I'm really running out of light grey, and the reason for that is evident in the following pictures. The library is stackable with the other modules. I also made a simple balcony on the top floor. Here's my modules, all together forming a beautiful tower. Here are the modules all separated. There's quite a lot of them! And finally, my additions to the royal court in a row. Hope you like my latest creation, and approve it as part of the keep! I'm afraid I have to take down the tower now, since I need the pieces for my Pillage the Village contest entry - and there really isn't much time to work on it anymore. So with this library, I take my bow from EBCCB, at least for a while. Quote
Lasse D Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Wow. This project really moves! Love those scrolls Sandy. There are so many details in all the contributions. Meanwhile. I have finished the facade for the carpenter. The interior still has to come. Quote
Front Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 A great look to those pillars Lasse, a nice little wooden house. Front Quote
Thrash Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Hope you like my latest creation, and approve it as part of the keep! I'm afraid I have to take down the tower now, since I need the pieces for my Pillage the Village contest entry - and there really isn't much time to work on it anymore. So with this library, I take my bow from EBCCB, at least for a while. Great job again Sandy! The three creations you've made have been great and have set a good standard for other entries for the keep of the castle. When you take apart the Wizards tower, would you be willing to take some shots so that we can reconstruct it at the end of this project? you don't have to take pictures of every single peice being removed, just enough pictures so that it could be reconstructed without too much effort. Check with ISC, but I'm pretty sure that this is what he wants people to do before taking apart their modules. Hopefully after the PTV contest you can come back to EBCCB and make more great modules! I have finished the facade for the carpenter. The interior still has to come. Wow, that's an awesome exterior for the carpenter. I love the way you've used the brown squares to make the pillars. After seeing how well you did with the outside, I can't wait to see what you can come up with for the inside! ~Thrash Quote
CF Mitch Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Hello, Team Beta. I'd just like to drop in and say that all of your additions to the CCB are wonderful! This has turned into quite an interesting thing to follow, and I look forward to more of your creations! I agree, I really love all of the creations so far, can't wait to see the final results Greetings, CF W Quote
Erdbeereis Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Stunning work Sandy and Lasse D! Great details and good design. When I get back from vacation I'll finish up the courtyard to add to the back of the library. Quote
Guss Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Lasse D, your carpenter's house is really cool ! ^^ Sandy, Well, so I'm going to let you makes the keep alone! XD that's really a superb modular tower you did, I love it! Both of you did really amazing modules^^ I love it ! great job ! *feel like a bad moccer with his armoury* Quote
I Scream Clone Posted November 14, 2008 Author Posted November 14, 2008 Awesome work from both Sandy and LasseD, well worth a spot in EBCCB folklore if you ask me Sandy, I love the detailing in the library, the scrolls are great and I will def give that a go somewhere down the track. I love all of the modules stacked together, sort of a last hurrah! LasseD, the ornate wood carvings on the exterior look fantastic, I think I can see how you did the stairs too, bravo. Can't wait for the interior either. I will go ahead and Thumbnail these. Cheers Quote
Brickthing Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I know I said I would like to do a dungeon, but I didn't realise it was on a 32x32 instead of a 16x16 tile. I don't think I have enough pieces. However, with the pieces I do have, I made a 16x16 outer wall module that is three stories. The bottom floor is a mini neglected dungeon, the second floor is a wizard's house, and the top floor (which is about 6 bricks above the wall walkway) is a simple watch tower equipped with a double catapult and a quartet of cross bowers to keep away unwanted visitors to the castle. In other words, the module that I made doesn't have a specific role, but it could still fit in quit nicely with the castle if there is space. I'll post pictures soon when I can. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Excellent work so far guys, i'm definitly seing some great MOCs in here! I have started on the docks, tavern and warehouse, but i haven't found time to finish 'm yet. I'll keep you posted Quote
Brickthing Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 (edited) Ok, I've finnished two modules and taken pictures. First up, is the Jewell Store: Here's the front: The side: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sprxtrer...le/dscf0005.jpg The back, with it's archer: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sprxtrer...le/dscf0004.jpg The roof comes of easily: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sprxtrer...le/dscf0006.jpg Leaving the inside of the Jewel Store, with the Jeweller who is cutting some gems from raw gemstones on one side, and a display stand with a magnifying glass for inspection. There are also gems in the chest: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sprxtrer...le/dscf0007.jpg On the other end of the room, there is a key for the chest and the Jeweller's pride and joy- a cut diamond: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sprxtrer...le/dscf0009.jpg Next, there is the Guard-Post, Wizard House, Dungeon module: The entrance to the dungeon: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sprxtrer...le/dscf0011.jpg The veranda of the wizard room: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sprxtrer...le/dscf0012.jpg And the guard tower complete with a quartet of crossbowers and a rotating double catapult: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sprxtrer...le/dscf0014.jpg The back of the tower: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sprxtrer...le/dscf0013.jpg The top level comes of to reveal the wizard's house: And the back: The ladder in action: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sprxtrer...le/dscf0029.jpg And finally the minifigs: Edited November 15, 2008 by 3D Brickthing Quote
I Scream Clone Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 (edited) I really like what you have made 3D with a limited amount of bricks (though you do have a lot of tan ) The Jeweler is great, all the detailing inside with the jeweler at work are great. Im guessing you own some Harry Potter castles? The Wizard tower looks really nice with some great modular design work. I like the skellie in the dungeon Nothing says bombardment better than a double catapult. Are the torso's custom or a set I have missed in my 20 years out of lego? They look great. Just one thing for the people who have a slow connection, could you post a link to the image gallery and maybe limit the pics per module to say 4 or 5. Also Eurobricks likes images 800 x 600 or smaller as they take a while to load up and don't add any more detail to the image. I have included a link to a resizing tutorial. Cheers, and keep up the Anzac building! Edited November 15, 2008 by I Scream Clone Quote
Brickthing Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 OK, I'll link the pictures. And yes, I own most of the first series of the Harry Potter sets, and the torsos come from the older Knight's Kingdom line with Lions and Bulls - the torsos are from Bull cronies. Quote
Lasse D Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 (edited) Thanks for the feedback on the exterior. Here are the pictures of the complete model. This carpenter is a bit of a show off, as you can tell by the facade with a huge plane to show that he's a carpenter. He even makes toys as you can see in the left display box. Inside you will find him working at his work bench. There are tools on the wall and some products ready to be painted on the floor. He uses a smaller plane than the one hanging outside. There's a triangle, saw, drill, clamps and other tools. Raw materials on the other side. And a part of the room dedicated for painting. The red chair will soon be finished. Where does he live? In the basement of course! There are a lot of parts for this small shop. These are the parts that are not clipped to the walls or secured using studs. The wall can be interchanged with the basic design. More pictures (such as details on how the roof is made) can be found in the Brickshelf gallery. Edited November 15, 2008 by Lasse D Quote
Thrash Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Thats awesome Lasse D. All of the details are wonderful, but my favorite thing is the little painting station. I doubt anyone's gonna try to build a better carpenter than that one... Can't wait to see what module you do next! ~Thrash Quote
I Scream Clone Posted November 16, 2008 Author Posted November 16, 2008 Awesome interior LasseD, way to get double the feedback I love the paint pots and the rocking chair as well as the stacks of lumbar. The roller skate outside is really cool too. Bravo on your first entry. Quote
Lasse D Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Thanks, but that is a toy duck, not a skate! (They are not invented yet) I have to finish a red trailer before I can continue here. it is a year overdue now. Quote
JimBee Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Fantastic work on the Carpenter, Lasse D! Great detailing! Quote
Thrash Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 (edited) I took a little while off to let other people get some creations built, but now I'm back with a Wizard's Guild! Overall: A better shot of the roof and the portal. The portal was inspired by Rocko's creation of the Viking and the wormhole: With no roof. My intent with the man's head in the Crystal ball wasn't to make the Wizard look like a sick cannibal. It was supposed to look like he could look into the crystal ball to communicate with another Wizard at another guild: A few more details like the books and the chest in the back: The wizard's familiar, the Wizard, and the man coming through the portal. I just got my order from brickforge with the blue staff, so I had been itching to use it: Hopefully I can get one or two more creations done this weekend, but I'm running out of 16x16 baseplates! EDIT: I managed to finish another one tonight! This time I've done a Witch's Hut. It's not on the list, but I figured it would be a cool addition and could easily replace something else on the list that no one feels like doing It might seem like an odd design, but it's modeled after Baba Yaga's cabin with chicken legs. In particular, I modeled it after Baba Yaga's Cabin in Quest for Glory 1 (a game I played when I was young). Here's a screenshot from the game so you know what I'm talking about: Overall: A small boy in a cage for her to either eat or turn into a frog and then frogs in the glass cages that used to be people. Also note the skeleton in the cauldron ready for her to eat: Here's the fireplace. I've never tried to make one on an angle before, but I was really pleased with the way this one turned out: A shot from the top to show the roofing technique and the little wings on top of the cabin that it can use to fly away if it needs to: Baba Yaga and her caundron: I had a lot of fun building it, so I hope you guys like the way it turned out! Guss Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 how man the witch hut is really cool XDDD and funny !! and your wizard hat-roof is really cool ! I love the interior of the carpenter too! but thrash is going to make the entire castle alone XD Quote
I Scream Clone Posted November 22, 2008 Author Posted November 22, 2008 That is just nuts Thrash! Obv the break agreed with your creative side. I love the witches shack on legs, very disturbing! The wizards guild is really quite nice too. I want to have a closer look and thumb them later. Also I just had an idea for a medieval theme park to put in the open areas. Like a wooden maerry go round etc..... could be cool. Quote
Sandy Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Fantastic work, as always, Trash! The chicken-legged house and the "wizard's hat" roof on the Wizard's Guild are superb inventions. I just have to laugh at the variety of the houses and residents of this town we're building! Quote
Brickthing Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Wow, that Witch Hut is definately interesting! I like the wings at the top. However, how is the witch supposed to enter or leave the hut? It's a story too high. Quote
Lasse D Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Normally I am the one who brings in the weirdness. That hut is just plain awesomeness Trash Entering it will be the least of one's problems Using a huge hat for the other roof is also great - it reminds me of Theme Park where you had shops like the one selling ice cream and the whole roof looked like made of ice Quote
Sandy Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 However, how is the witch supposed to enter or leave the hut? It's a story too high. She's a witch, so she has a flying broom, duh! Besides, in the fairytale of Baba Yaga, the hut could bend it's legs under it so it looked like a normal building (to attract innocent travellers to the cannibalistic witch). Quote
