OK guys, these are my first ever MOCs, so please be gentle. :classic: I also apologize ahead of time for the pictures, I'm still working on getting better ones taken. I've always admired all the MOCs over the years and wanted to make one of my own, but I never had enough Lego bricks to do so. Thanks to Target clearing out the Castle Siege set for $25 a set, Bricklink and EBCCB, I thought this would be the perfect time to try.

The first module I've built is the Tax Collector.

tax_collector_-_front.jpg

tax_collector_-_inside_1.jpg

The second module is the Elven Archer Barracks. (If you guys can think of a better name for this, I'd appreciate the input.)

elven_barracks_-_front.jpg

elven_barracks_-_back.jpg

This module is 99% complete. I'm just waiting for some Windows with shutters I order to complete this build.

The last module is the Mermaid Bar (and brothel) with Alleyway.

mermaid_bar_-_front.jpg

This module is 90% complete. I'm just waiting for parts to make two beds for the upstairs rooms.

I'll post the rest of the pics to the Team Alpha thread later today. I'd appreciate any comments and feedback.

Thanks

they both looks really nice, I love the little tower on the tax collector archer barracks (oops^^) , that's a nice addition to it ^^ I can't wait to see more pics of your bar^^

happily I got a lot of grey and castle part last week, so I'll be able to build something very cool for the community castle

but sadly I had another moc to do for an exposition and now I don't really have time to build, so I think I'll make a new module next year... wait, it's in less than 15 days yay!

Wow darkagent! All three of those modules look fantasic.

Based on the pictures you've shown, I think that my favorite is the Brothel. I love what you did with the alleyway, and really the whole building came together nicely. I have two suggetions:

1. On all of them, it might give them a smoother, more finished feel if you put down tiles of some sort on the floors and other areas where studs are showing. If you don't have the tiles, don't worry about it. They're still great creations!

2. For the brothel, I would suggest making the door swing in instead of out. Something about that door just doesn't seem right when you have it swinging out.

Also, I really like how you have the tax collector having tons of jewels in his house. I was thinking about that module and was going to do something similar, but now that you've done such a nice job, I don't really see a need for me to build one.

I'll admit, I was skeptical about what kind of entries you would make when I saw that you only had a few posts, but you've really done a great job and I'm thoroughly impressed!

Good having you on board for the build, and I can't wait to see more pictures!

Guss, I can't wait to see what you'll do for your next module!

Very good work for your first MOCs!

So your Target had the King's Castle Siege for $25 dollars!? When was that?

This was about a month or two ago. They were on clearance at 75% off. I went to several Targets in my area and managed to pick up four sets at that price.

Thrash - I didn't have enough tiles. I had enough to try out on the second floor of my Elven Barracks module. I actually like leaving the studs exposed. It feels more "Lego" to me. Yeah, you're right, the door for the brothel should swing in. I'll make that change. Thanks.

Thanks for the early comments guys.

Lovely work darkagent. I see no real problem with the pictures except the shadowing in back. I will head on over to the Alpha thread and take a closer look.

I hope to have yours and Josh's Thumbs up soon as well

Thrash, if im not mistaken you only had a few posts when you joined up too  and we were all amazed by your work too.

With my Barracks, do we think it should have a soldiers Mess Hall downstairs or strickly bedding etc?

I think a small mess hall would be great, as it would add a bit of diversity to the module.

Ha, very true about my post count before joining. Probably about 90% of my posts have been in the discussion and group threads. :classic:

I agree with Erdbeereis that it would be good to have a mess hall. How far along are you?

Hi Guys, its progressing slowly as we got next to no sleep the last couple of nights, and I get up for work before 6am.

Thrash, what program do you use to write on your pictures?

Here are some rough pics so far.

Thrash, what program do you use to write on your pictures?

Looks like a great start! As Erdbeereis pointed out, the diagonal steps are a really cool feature. I'm excited to see more pictures as it progresses or when it's finished!

The program I use for writing on the pictures is Microsoft Word:

1. Copy and paste the picture into Word

2. Make it as big or as small as you want, but make sure that all of it can be viewed on the screen at one time

3. Use WordArt to create the text (the font I use is "Matura MT Script Capitals")

4. Edit the wordart (change colors, resize, rotate)

5. Hit the Print Screen button (or whatever you use to get screenshots) and then paste it into a Paint document

6. Move it so that the paint document is just the picture that now has the text on it

7. Save the paint document as whatever you want

I'm not sure why you asked, but I would be happy to go through and write the name of each entry on the main picture of it. Just let me know! :classic:

Wow, the barracks looks good so far. Those corner modules are bigger than I thought. I agree with the other guys, mess hall on the first floor and sleeping quarters on the second.

I had a thought about labeling all the pics like yours, though if you want to go ahead and do it, I would be stoked!

Cheers, just ship me the image codes later or full codes with links, I dont mind.

Its progressing nicely as we speak, I will have a large corner tower above the two story barracks as well. The ideas are flowing fast, hope I don't forget any. I have a staircase i'm happy with and some tables that look sweet.

Sure thing, I'll get to work on that a bit later today after my philosophy final exam.

This barracks just keeps sounding better and better!

EDIT:

Here's the code ISC. To make everything look nice I gave every thumbnail a height of 160 pixels. I also posted all of the bigger pictures in my brickshelf gallery.

I tried to do my best with the colors and placement of text. Sorry to anyone who doesn't like the way I did their pictures, if you don't like the way I did yours I guess I can redo them.

In the future whenever someone posts something I'll update the gallery and send you the code. It would help if in the guidelines you told everyone to take a picture of their creation head on with a white background that's a fairly large size so that I can work with it to make the thumbnail with the text.

I left out Erdbeereis garden/courtyard because I was under the impression that he was still working at it. As soon as he posts the final product I'll thumbnail it.

That was a lot of image editing/coding, so I hope I got everything right! If anyone sees any problems, just let me know :classic:

Outstanding work Thrash, You are living the glory days of having spare time, a commodity I have little of with the offspring keeping me busy, 1 hr to build each night isn't really enough :hmpf_bad:

I will check through the links tonight to make sure they all work. I have updated the first post with your suggestions as well, great idea.

Hope the final Philosophy exam was all good

EDIT: Here are some more progress pics.

I have actually run out of light grey and hit a standstill on the tower. Also planning the roof/second floor will take some thought as it will be modular, probably Tudor walled.

Anyway, enjoy.

PS the things on the table are salt and pepper shakers, though i like cones better

Glad I could help! :classic:

I'm willing to make thumbnails for each person's creation when they post them...I think that will help to keep consistency among thumbnails and make this whole thing seem more organized. I'm fine with not doing it too though if people want to make their own.

I've got no problem doing it, so if you want me to all you need to write in the first post is that I need a shot of the building head-on, or slightly at an angle like some people have chosen to do. A link to the folder will also help too...it's easy to find brickshelf folders, but it can be a pain if people use photobucket or sites like that!

Even though Matn did one, I made a thumbnail for his in the same format as the others:

Matn

His folder isn't public yet, but I think I got the folder link correct.

Your barracks looks great so far! It's a shame that you've run out of gray bricks. I was actually hesitant to do one of the bigger modules because I was afraid I would either run out of gray bricks or whatever color tiles I decided to use. The tudor upstairs should look really good when you're done, I can't wait to see it!

Once again, I cannot begin to express the amount of fun and enjoyment I personally have recieved from the EBCCB, and its all thanks to great community members like you guys and the Moderators that have made it possible

We are up to 30 Modules so far, which is outstanding. With some upcoming projects from Adam, Stash2sixx and myself we will keep the ball rolling nicely. Who knows maybe Draggy will finally build his gatehouse

Don't worry, ISC- I'm just waiting on a BL order to finish my Back Gatehouse, and I should have a WIP shot up in January. I'm about to board a plane tommorow.

Man you are always jet-setting somewhere. Cant wait to see the back gatehouse. Any chance you ordered some extra light grey bricks for me?

The other thing I forgot to mention in my last post was how this is a great opportunity for all of us to learn how to build Castles in future, like for eg Teddy, DNL and Rebel Rock. We all have to start somewhere and this will teach us all a lot about medieval architecture.
