I Scream Clone Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 You have one dirty mind . Nice job though, I really like the guard and the use of gates Hey you beat me too it Nice work Thrash, the quality continues. Lovely small stage for this, simple and effective. Quote
darkagent Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 What...no dead bodies or body parts? Great work yet again Thrash. Quote
darkagent Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 So here's the finished Throne Room. Top view of the king holding court with his allies, the Dwarfs and Elves. Close-up of the king and queen A look at one of the walls with some war trophies The other wall with some more war trophies A look at the back wall with the fireplace Some more detailed pics can be found here on Brickshelf (when public). Enjoy Darkagent Quote
Brickthing Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Wow, great work darkagent! I like all the designs on the floor, and all the extra details you added. However, I'm not too sure why the King has shields of the heroes of the most recent Knight's Kingdom sets...There should at least be he scorpion shield then. Quote

I was never a big fan of the whole Knight's Kingdom line. To me, they were all bad. I only have a couple sets I found on clearance and none of them had a scorpion shield. The shields on the wall were mostly bought on Bricklink. Quote
Thrash Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Thanks for all the comments on the Money Changer guys! Darkagent, your Throne Room looks really nice. I really like how the dwarves and the elves are coming to meet with him. The big red carpet fits perfectly, too. Over the past few months my girlfriend has watched me build a few of my modules, so over winter break she agreed to try to make one too. I told her that she could build whatever the heck she wanted as long as it would fit in with a medieval town, so she came up with a Cadger's Menagerie. I had no idea what experience she had with lego, but I was pleasently surprised with the result. She insisted that she didn't want ANY help from me, so this is all her work. In fact, I was watching football at another house while she was building! Another angle: When the person goes inside, there is a pit of spiders on their right, and then a path leading to a big red door. If people go to this door, they fall in a pit of snakes. You can't blame me for the gruesomeness this time guys...this was all my girlfriend's doing: A shot of the inside from the back: The old Cadger who runs the place. Probably not the best torso choice for a medieval town, but she insisted she wanted it because it fit with the color scheme...: Hope you liked it! Cadger's Menagerie Brickshelf ~Thrash Quote
I Scream Clone Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 darkagent: Exquisite detailing, I think its right that the King would have slain the lacklustre Knights Kingdom characters, they wouldn't stand a chance, what with all their terrible figures and modular castles, they were just asking to be invaded LOL You have followed the design details of the keep well, with a door on each side of the Throne room. Bravo Thrash: Hey my wife is always picking me up on not matching the boys outfits properly, so she obv has an eye for a snappy torso to match the Menagerie. Looks really nice, particularly gothic Quote
Sandy Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I had to look up what "cadger" and "menagerie" meant from Google, since the purpose of the house isn't quite clear... It's supposed to be some sort of display of living animals, right? Aside from that, it looks very nice, and fits the quite sinister theme of our community-built town very well. And she's totally right about the torso, historical accuracy can be damned! Quote
Guss Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 "menagerie " also exist in french but "Cadger" means "bug" and "insect" this kind of things ? anyway Great job to you and your girlfriend^^ it's a nice Menagerie! the Throne room of Darkagent is great too! I love the colours of it! Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I love the throne room! Full of details and decorations, completely tiled and the minifigs look great. Good job! Quote

I just called it a Cadger's Menagerie because a cadger is an old man and a menagerie is a collection of live wild animals for exhibit. I thought that the name sounded kind of medieval, so I went with it. ~Thrash Quote

ISC, I totally agree with you about Knights Kingdom. That whole time period when Lego decided to do more modular pieces and putting gimmicky play functionality before design, just turned me off. Thrash Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Since we've finally got everything sorted out with the keep, I decided to do the War Room! The general is detailing the battle plan on the large map while the wizard, dwarf, and knights listen. The giant map is a custom decal I made. It's supposed to look a lot like the new pirates/indiana jones map: Another angle: Without the minifigs: The wizard, knights, dwarf, and general: I hope you guys like it! I Scream Clone Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 Thats just awesome, Its exactly how I envisaged a War room! Loving the dramatis personae as well. The General is very cool, and the custom map is sweet. Any chance of shipping me one of those LOL or showing us how to make one and what its printed on. That wizard has his work cut out protecting those hapless knights Quote

darkagent Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Wow Thrash, that is an awesome War Room. Great work yet again. Quote
Thrash Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) Wow Thrash, that is an awesome War Room. Great work yet again. Thanks! Lalande was doing a little research earlier about rooms in castle keeps and found that they not only had a wine cellar for wine but also a buttery for liquor, so I built a Buttery! The Beer-Girl is getting a tray full of beers...: ...While the Jester drinks away his sorrows about getting laughed at all the time: With the hallway attached: The Beer-Girl and the Jester: My barrel was inspired by the Everfrost Mountain Brewery, but I did it a bit differently. Once the Buttery Brickshelf folder is public, you'll be able to see pictures of how I made my barrels. Hope you like it! Buttery Brickshelf ~Thrash Edited January 10, 2009 by Thrash Quote
Zepher Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 first off, I'd like to say that I've been following this thread for some time and it looks fantastic. I do have a question though, and that is if you will ever put it all together. Is that was the plan is? Or is it just to built possible connecting pieces and imagine them all together? Quote

Since it's physically impossible for all of us to come together and join the modules, we'll have to do with our imagination, I'm afraid. Quote
Zepher Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 That's what I figured... which is to bad. They would look awesome all together! This is over-all outstanding! After posting I went back and looked at all the creations, and you are all doing a fantastic job! Keep up the good work, I'll make sure to check in more often now! Quote

For some reason, I just can't stop building these keep modules, so here's my Royal Jail! The Warden eats a delicious feast in front of the prisoners just to be rude: While all they have is a cup of gruel (and a barrel to go to the bathroom in): One of the prisoners is trying to reach the key before the guard notices, but that pesky dog keeps barking at him: A prisoner, Hinckley (who is being held captive until he agrees to build the entire CCB when we're finished ), the Warden's dog, and the Warden: Hope you like it! I might have another module coming tonight! Royal Jail Brickshelf ~Thrash Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Two great parts!! Poor Hinckley in the prison... Beer is one of the greatest drinks ever invented, that's also a reason why I like the buttery. Lots of pints in there! Can't wait to see other parts of this magnifiscient build. Quote

Can't wait to see other parts of this magnifiscient build. Thanks! And thanks for posting in this thread so that I can present my Treasury without doing a double post! The Treasury Guard stands in front of the Treasury door holding the key. If you're wondering why he isn't afraid of someone taking the key from him, just look at him: On one side, the King proudly shows off his collection of every type of jewel produced by Lego (or at least, every one that I know of): On the other side, the King has a big pile of gold and a few golden chests filled with gold and silver. The King in the treasury is like a small child in a candy store...: The Treasury Guard and the overly excited King: Hope you enjoyed it! That may or may not be my last creation of the weekend... Treasury Brickshelf EDIT: For my last module of the weekend, I bring you my Wine Cellar! A monk is getting some wine from the cellar as a cat chases away a rat from the precious wine: A few bottles of wine have been pulled out and put on ice: Without the characters: The monk: Hope you liked it! Time to go back to school, so everyone else will have some time to build some modules before I build anymore Wine Cellar Brickshelf ~Thrash Edited January 11, 2009 by Thrash Quote
darkagent Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Very nice work Thrash. You've inspired me to build another module today. Here it is, the Royal Armory Here we have the Royal Weapons Master doing some book keeping, while his wind-up automaton knight stands guard. Here's a top view with attached hallway A closer look at the figures. The wind-up knight is based off work by boses, whose work is being featured at classic-castle.com right now I'm now very low on Lego bricks, so this might be my last module build in a while. Enjoy darkagent Quote
