squidman85 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 That is very strange Oky could you give us a screen shot? Oh,yeah. Quote
Oky Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 If it ever shows up again, I will, but it's just a tiny thumbnail, so you wont be able to see much. Quote
Brad-The-Brick Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Why does buzz get all the love? IMO, Woody is the best disney character ever, so I can't wait to buy the woody's round up western town. Something strikes me odd though. Why would they make a set revolving around a town we saw just a bit on a screen within a screen? And a $50 set at that. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Something strikes me odd though. Why would they make a set revolving around a town we saw just a bit on a screen within a screen? And a $50 set at that. Because LEGO needs to find things that they can make plausible sets from. Really, none of the sets we have seen so far are a real movie scene except for the RC car set. Why? Because it would be impossible to make most of the movie scenes since they involve comparatively giant furniture and houses. LEGO can't realistically make, say, an "Airplane Escape" set because that would need giant airplane wheels and giant luggage, things that it would be logistically impossible to put in a set. Everything in the movies is so big compared to the toys, so LEGO had to stretch a little to find things that could be made into sets. I'm quite happy about that, though, since I'd love that Western Town even if it isn't so related to the movies. Quote
Dunjohn Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 True, I can't think of a single other movie scene that would make a nice set. Maybe the elevator battle between Buzz and Zurg, but that was basically just a flat grey box. Possibly even the "flying" scene from the first movie, where Buzz convinces the other toys that he can fly; it'd have some track and blocks and things but I dunno what else. Quote
Oky Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 (edited) Yeah. Remember those Racers tracks? It would be great if they would make a new piece wich is like this one, but more like the tracks and a little twisted, so that they make up a loop when you put four together, and make some sort of tiny turbo which you can put the Buzz fig on and shoot through the loop. :sweet: Btw, did anyone notice that that scene in the movie doesn't make sense? Buzz' wings would have totally hit the loop in real life. They cut the film so that you don't actually see Buzz entering or exiting the loop. Maybe that's why nobody ever made a toy of that scene. I thought the gas station fight would make a neat little set. They could include some of the objects from that scene such as the oil cans or maybe a bucket or something and make some play features such as a catapult for the figs to launch the cans at each other. Or how about the scene where they encounter Sid's zombie toys for the first time? There's not much in that scene that could be turned into a set, but since all of Sid's toys would be brick-built, it could work. They could give the skateboard guy a pull-back motor etc. And then, of course, there's the opening sequence of TS2, the Buzz Lightyear videogame, which could be a set in the style of 7623 Temple Escape. knuclear200x Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I got my sights on the Buzz and Zurg Figures. I hope by then I have so many ball/socket joint bricks to spare. Still trying to stock up on those K9 police sets for some fingers. Quote
Oky Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 (edited) Good idea. I too am planning on modding those construction figs, and the K-9 is a perfect parts pack for Buzz' hands. For Zurg, you can just get those pieces from PAB. I think they have some joints on PAB too, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I finally got Amazon to show the the pic again, and well, here it is: EDIT: I tried blowing it up a bit: Edited November 25, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
ILikePi Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 (edited) Great find Oky Wan! It seems to be a ~250 piece set. Maybe $30 USD? I wished that Zurg would be inside another set, though (like Construct-a-Zurg), since I really want a minifig version of him and this set seems to be the least appealing of the line. Edited November 25, 2009 by ILikePi Quote
Oky Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Yes, it said that it's $29.99, but I didn't mention it since I have a hard time believing that. Construct-A-Buzz seems to have more pieces than this, and it's $25. I'm guessing it'll be $20 MSRP. And yes, it would have been nice to get Zurg with the Build-A-Zurg set. But if I'm right, he'll at least come in a cheap set. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Hey, great find Oky Wan Kenobi ! Dam I'm really going to be broke next year, my son will want this one. Now did anyone notice the age bracket on the box, 7-14, usually it's up to 12. I think this tie into the early teens market that love the films and their characters back when they were five or six years of age. Quote
ILikePi Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 The army men and Western town sets look great! I'm so getting the army men "battle pack". Those pot helmets and green accessories are so fantastic. It looks like the pieces in the army men set are green, but the minesweeper is dark green. Does anyone have any other opinions? I like the Western town set very much, but not enough to get it. There are some very interesting details like the street sign and the brick-built cactus (pretty small for a cactus ), and the minifigs are still awesome. The Green Brick Giant Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Great find Oky Wan!It seems to be a ~250 piece set. Maybe $30 USD? I thought his space ship was going to be $40? The $20 set only has 87 pieces or something like that, o i can see the set being insanely overpriced. Quote

Oky Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Woody's Round Up now on TRU.com. It says that it is included in the BOGO 50% off sale. If only it were in stock! I will check my local store first thing tomorrow, just in case... Quote

I will check my local store first thing tomorrow, just in case... Awesome find Oky Wan! Hopefully this means that it'll be available in a few days!I'll try piecing together sections of the zoomed in box art to make a really large picture. EDIT: Click the picture for a huge version. Description: Run like the wind, Bullseye! With only moments to spare, Sheriff Woody and Bullseye save Jessie from the gold mine wired with dynamite by Stinky Pete. Now in jail, Stinky Pete is already planning to escape and take the money from the safe. But Sheriff Woody is ready with a catapult trap in the sidewalk. It seems like it's going to be $50 USD. This looks like a great deal! It includes lots of interesting accessories and details (like the "direction" sign)! Edited December 4, 2009 by ILikePi Quote
Oky Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 (edited) Awesome, thanks Pi! It seems like it's going to be $50 USD. This looks like a great deal! Agreed! I feared it would be more than that, but this sounds pretty good. I would have payed any price for it anyway, but the smaller the price, the better. I like how they made it look like the set is standing in Andy's room on the box art. Edited December 4, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
Svelte Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Thanks for the large pic, Pi! I'll do an update of the pinned index thread shortly. In the meantime, track down other box art pics to complete the set Quote
Etzel Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Thanks for the info Oky-Wan Kenobi, and thanks for the large picture ILikePi! I think I'm going to get this set actually, it seems to have a really good selection of parts in good colours. I'm just hoping it won't be too expensive in my country, $50 is a really good deal but licensed set usually get a large prise raise outside of North America. But hopefully not too much, I'm very interested in this set as parts pack. Oh, and in this case I'm happy that the signs are stickers - then I can choose not to apply them and instead have the much more useful plain tiles Quote

Oky Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Fanastic find Oky Wan, I'll be adding this one onto my shopping list for 2012.Can't wait until I can see a review. You're welcome. Uhm... There is a good chance that these will be discontinued by 2012, plus the world is supposed to end that year, so you might wanna plan on buying them earlier. Oh, and don't worry about the review. As soon as I can get my hands on these, I will review them. Btw, I was at TRU this morning, and even though they seemed to have restocked since I was there on Tuesday, there was no sign of the TS sets. Quote
