Yoshi648 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 (edited) Have you checked out the Brick Flicks & Comics forum? There are plenty of topics there, including these links that can help you getting started with making Lego films. Edited December 22, 2009 by Yoshi648 Quote

What camera, lighting, work areas, computer software do you currently have to make a lego movie? What's your budget? Edited December 22, 2009 by allanp Quote
Big Cam Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Well I checked it out for 5 mintues and I found the following troubles.1. I have a Mac!!!! 2. I don't know where to do the lighting 3. I don't have that much legos. 4. What about lego ships (star wars) I think your asking us for help in area's you can't help. We can't give you more LEGO's, thats a problem you may have to work around on your own. If you have a mac and can only find instructions for a PC then again, we can't change that fact. In my experiences, mac's have always been great video editors, so I don't see why this is a problem. Lighting would probably be bset by a bright window, free natuarl light is the most convinient, and you apparently have some LEGO's, could you build your own ship? If not, maybe to a film without a ship, I've seen some great films that are just a few fig's moving within a small area. Quote
Ronan Dragonov Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 You might look into CAD - LDraw. It's free, you'll have unlimited bricks, and there are some animation tutorials available. Quote
Athos Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 How to do this stuff, how to get things with no trouble, and HOW TO MAKE A LEGO MOVIE!!! (my biggest dream ever) The same way you get to Carnegie Hall: location, location, location... No wait, that's practice, practice, practice. Anyhow, my advice is: Just do it. Don't ask a bunch of questions. At least not broad ones like these. Everyone is different, so you're not going to get a good answer. (If you want to ask how to do a specific technique, ask away). There is no comprehensive guide on how to build good MOCs or make great Lego movies. You just have to give it a go and see how it turns out. Building with Lego isn't like baking a cake where you can follow a recipe. You just have to build and see what works. And don't set your sights too high. I have a ton of Lego and rarely build on anything larger than a 32x32 baseplate. Start small. If you want to make movies, do a short skit, don't try for an epic film. And nobody around here (well probably almost nobody) gets things with no trouble. You've got to work at it. I'm not really sure what you're getting at. If you mean you want more Lego, then we all have to budget, prioritize and sacrifice other expenses for our bricks. If you're talking about building a great MOC easily, you're not going to get that either (if that is what you are after, you will have to stick to the official sets with instructions). All great MOCs take a lot of thought, planning and experimentation. They're not something you throw together in an afternoon. So, if you're really serious about it: just build. Steve Quote

I looked at it and i'm thinking about right now... but I am going to need my dads help with this. Thanks to you and all the others who gave me advice :) (P.S I want to make a space movie) Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Mac is the best for video creation (or so my sister keeps gushing. Always been more of a PC girl myself). Take small steps first, a short animation without much going on. Look up different techniques used by professionals, some of the best out there started in their bedroom and have told of what they did to create their first short films. I may have never been able to animate myself but I have read a huge amount of information in preperation! Quote

I've already looked at some sites and i am already found a good space to put my scenes... in my basement. Though i need a lot more legos, so I am going to buy some normal bricks for buildings (I would do design by me but I have a powermac) Now all I need is some lamps (i don't have that much) Quote
