Superkalle Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 (edited) Some photos from me. The sign at Lego HQ Entrance. Wait...on close inspection Open air building A cool dude Some prototypes for the new Atlantis helmet. Very inspiring to hear the story behind brick and mold design. Thanks front! Jamie talking about the design evolution of Grand Emporium. Very intresting stuff. Thanks Jamie. The gang building. Crowded. Hot. Friendly. Massive model at Legoland More at Legoland. The model builders can build small too. Inpiring small sea gulls. Legoland again - Interesting techniqe using jumper plates to get a fairly smooth surface on this cockpit. Aredhel Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 And special thanks go to the town of Hamburg for blocking two of three lanes on the motorway for NOTHING , resulting in a 20 km traffic jam and two hours delay on our way back home. Yes, that was a reeeeally looong way home... But a good thing was to meet the french guys for some lunch after the traffic jam... I was home around 21h so I had about 12 hours all in all, but started work like always and try to get rid of being tired veeeery soon the next days :D -Aredhel Quote
mutley777 Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Looks like you all had a great time! Ras, love that boba sweat shirt!! Very cool! Quote
Zorbas Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 The sign at Lego HQ Entrance. WTF? I thought that this was a carpet at first glance! Man, that's just insane!!! Thanks for the photos everyone! It looks like you had a really great time there! A LEGO environment 24/7... Quote
Freddie Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 I had a great time as well, and it the event lived up to my expectations based on what Quarryman told me of last year's event. I myself was home at around 22.30 after dropping off DNL and Quarryman in Oslo at 21-ish and having a 30-min dinner-break. It was nice meeting up with the Swedes and Izzy on the ferry on the way home as well. Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Great pictures. It looks like you all had a great time and yes...I am jealous! Thanks for sharing. Quote
KimT Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 I thought that this was a carpet at first glance! Man, that's just insane!!! Then consider that the red is made out of these guys: Yeeees.... now you're all calculating, aren't you? A lot would be the answer. Quote
Rick Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Then consider that the red is made out of these guys: Not all of them... but still... Would be nice to have on your wall. A giant dust-eating Lego sign. Wait...on close inspection Quote
DNL Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 I had a really great time at the event, it was very nice to meet the people from the forum in real life, and the presentations and tour at the lego group were very interesting. Fortunately there weren't too many people at the park, so there was hardly any waiting time at the attractions, and it wasn't crowded. I will definitely try to come again next year, and if if anyone considers going next time you definitely should, you won't regret it! I didn't take any photos because i couldn't find my compact camera, but it looks like there are plenty of photos by other attendees. Quote
General Redwater Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Great photos! I hope you had a great time! Wait...on close inspection Are the black minifigs supposed to be zombies? They look like they are trying to eat each other. Quote
KimT Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Not all of them... but still... Would be nice to have on your wall. A giant dust-eating Lego sign. Ok, not the helmets. Check the torsos. (PS I was there ) Quote
alex54 Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 The only bad thing about the event is that it's too short in time! Like the other Eventees, I would to thank you the Event Admin team for those funny and great moments. It's always great to see some members in real, and with new people compared to last year event. I know that I didn't speak a lot, (in part due to my bad spoken english), but that didn't stop me from having a good time! And thanks you Front for your pics, they really look professionals (you've got some nice pics from insects and animals in your Flirck too, but a little off topic...) And special thanks go to the town of Hamburg for blocking two of three lanes on the motorway for NOTHING , resulting in a 20 km traffic jam and two hours delay on our way back home. I can't say more about that! Damned us! Yes, that was a reeeeally looong way home... But a good thing was to meet the french guys for some lunch after the traffic jam... It was for us too! More than 12h in the car! How long it was! But the two stops made this road more funny, like if the event didn't want to finish. I will post my pics before the end of the week. Quote
Dfenz Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 And special thanks go to the town of Hamburg for blocking two of three lanes on the motorway for NOTHING , resulting in a 20 km traffic jam and two hours delay on our way back home. This explains why my sat-nav sent me through Hamburg city streets! And here I was bad-mouthing it .. stupid machine!!! A 30 minute detour (all moving) doesn't seem too bad now. I arrived home at 2.00am this morning having spent Monday night in France. I had time to stop into Bluewater Lego store on the way back for some PAB - its just off the M25 so ideal for anyone travelling around outskirts of London. Not sure if its on the route to Windsor from channel ports. I saw signs for Heathrow so its possible - 2011 eventees take note assuming we're at Windsor next year. Thanks to all eventees, organisers and Lego for a great weekend. David Quote
Superkalle Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 @David: Glad to hear you and your family got home allright. That was some serious dedication you showed by coming to Billund A bit closer next year! Quote
Zorbas Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Yeeees.... now you're all calculating, aren't you? 3247. Just the red ones. P.S An EB contest involving this carpet fresco. Hmmm... Quote
Jipay Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Yes, that was a reeeeally looong way home... But a good thing was to meet the french guys for some lunch after the traffic jam...I was home around 21h so I had about 12 hours all in all, but started work like always and try to get rid of being tired veeeery soon the next days :D -Aredhel + 1, I really enjoyed having a lunch with you guys after the traffic jam. Made it like the event wasn't over yet. And next year I'll force captain green hair to come with us by car ! Thanks to all for the presence and the inputs and feedback on the website, now roots do have some things to do Thanks to the Nordish staff for all the behind the scene work on those great days. It's always a pleasure to see you guys again Quote
Ras 74 Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 I am pleased to read that everybody got home alright. I have a few pictures as well that I will post but today I am too tired. Thanks everyone for making this to a great Event, and thanks Front for the pics so far and beeing so quick with posting them. Still haven´t recaptured from the Event. Will soon hit the bed. Quote
CopMike Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Thanks everyone for a great event, and especially Ras for all the organizing. And to my fellow Vikings that yet again kicked the .....whatever teams in the firefighter game Who won the minigolf for the 4th time in a row? Great pics Front ! Here´s a few of mine: Getting ready for the ferry in Gothenburg! Classic shrimp breakfast. The adults build with Lego - no kids allowed, crybaby! Party & build On! Is that yours? Can I have it? Now? Do you need it? Can I have it? Etzel is everywhere! Quote
Etzel Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Thanks for the pictures, CopMike! I wish I could have brought the big duck with me home Quote
Quarryman Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Etzel is everywhere! Indeed, everywhere I looked that there were bricks available for building you could be sure to find an etzel-duck. Including (but not limited to) the table in our room, the duplo plate on the door to the room, the building tables in the reception at the village, and many other places Quote
Rick Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 The adult build with Lego - no kids allowed, crybaby! Trying to impress Iz with that giant one-eyed monster eh, Ras? Looks like you guys had loads of fun... and beers. Quote
Quarryman Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 A few of mine.. Etzel doing his 7197 build-in-bag Dennimator army-building Copmike seems to have strayed from the One True Path. Bad Copmike! Entries for the "build a vignette typical of your country" contest, see if you can guess which is which. Jipay's entry for the "build a vignette typical of your country" contest Ras making up some crazy claims about the size of his.. something Difficult position in the minigolf for Christian Exactly what Bonaparte is trying to claim here is anyone's guess.. Superkalle's car when leaving Billund Tired eventees on the ferry home, Copmike and Etzel All my pictures can be found in my gallery. (warning: default viewing size is 1600x1200 ) Quote
Peppermint_M Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Next year Windsor! You all look like you had a great time, I certainly hope to make next years meetup! Quote
Ras 74 Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 My turn to add some pictures that haven´t been shown yet. Front and Jamie Berard held a presentation for us. Here Jamie was showing us the development of the GE. Writing my name in bricks on the wall of the headquarters. Another member wrote her name next to mine as well. Mr Holo is really concentrating to get all the barcodes right for the new Collectable minifigs. Cutlass Iz hid in a small house she found to seek shelter for the night wind. Jamie looking at Superkalles creation to see if they are all "LEGO approved". Cutlass Iz and Jamie after our dinner with him. Very fun moment happened right before here when people thought it would be fun to get there sets signed that Jamie designed. Superkalle came up to me all wild in his eyes with his copy of the GE signed and shouted, "I feel like a 14 year old girl at a boyband concert!!". A shot of the 4 Time Billund EB Event Champion in action. Here is the crazy Event Admin. Nice technique he has Is he actually hitting the ball when it is in the whole? Nope! It is not even close... Move along... Missed that putt huh? Well you must have done pretty good in the end after all Kalle. You took the second place of all competitions, and got an Imperial Flagship. Jamie joined us for some golf as well and had a great time. He promissed to try to join us next year as well. There are several of us that was mighty glad to Superkalles big car. Thanks for the help again Kalle. PrEtzels ducks again. This time also a black version. Have you checked if the black pieces was rare yet? That was all from me. I really hope there will be more pictures soon. *Glances at Holodoc* Quote
