AllanSmith Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Sweet yellow sports car!! That is awesome and just what I had also wanted, I didn't want to say sports car again because we had gotten the red one already and did not want to have bricks thrown at me :Looks like a really nice design. and also 6 wide!!! The other red sports car was 4 wide, blah Actually the yellow car is 4 wide plus mudguard width. The bonnet (hood) looks to be made of curved bricks Quote
paul_delahaye Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I thought it looked like the old 9v train speed regulator in the shop, but hey I guess lego always had lots of them left over, I'm wondering how the tram will work, will it have car wheels? Will it have mini train wheels to run on tracks? will it be designed to run on regular 6 wide train track or the micro 4 wide indiana jones track? Quote

Will it have mini train wheels to run on tracks? will it be designed to run on regular 6 wide train track or the micro 4 wide indiana jones track? Er, what 9v train controller ? I suspect car wheels as there is no real straight Indiana Jones track pieces to take small train wheels. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Matt Dawson Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Er, what 9v train controller ? It's a postcard in the shop - look at the swivel rack in the shop, at the middle back. And that tram looks like it uses the titchy train wheels. But someone will have to get hold of one to make sure! Quote
Nebi Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I suspect car wheels as there is no real straight Indiana Jones track pieces to take small train wheels. You don't need small train wheels: Even if there will be car wheels, we could easily replace them with train wheels Quote
Rick Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 You don't need small train wheels: My thoughts exactly. I mentioned this a few pages ago as well. Thanks for 'bricking' it. Quote
legoboy3998 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 It does appear in the little shop to be selling the old 9V speed regulator and the new big bulldozer. A place for your Lego truck to deliver? Sal WFB, WI Quote
Matn Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I already said this is an awesome set, but I've been thinking. Once I'll get this set, I'm going to transfer the beautiful tram to a monorail. The Futuron monorail doesn't really fit in my town, but this one would work wonderful as a City monorail. I'll just put on monorail bases with the motor in the middle part (it looks like its specially designed for that ) Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 TLG knows that we want a new monorail or at least an elevated train that much. And so I even bet that they'll release one. But surely not this year and very supposably even not next year. But I could well imagine TLG releasing an elevated train - but not a monorarail - as a huge exclusive set (10xxx for about 150 Euros) with hamburger stall, two stops, a small car, a bicycle and some minifigs in 2012. lightningtiger Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 We have two monorails in Oz as far as I know, and I have been on both - one in Sydney and one for Sea World on the Gold Coast. BUT trams - well Adelaide is getting new tram lines laid and Melbourne - well that city only lives for trams, trams everywhere. So guess most of us Aussie's would be happier with a tram than a monorail. Though in the US or Europe - there are more monorails I guess. A monorail would be nice for a model of said Sea World, that would make a great set eh ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
AMK152 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 this set looks awesome. I'd like to have a few of those buses! Quote

Jargo Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Trams have been planned for a few UK cities but haven't been implemented due to lack of funding. It's seen as the answer to traffic congestion. and lowering carbon footprints. Manchester has trams and Liverpool used to with trams going across the city east - west and buses going north - south. Liverpoolalso had an overhead railway running along the dock road servicing the docks and ferry terminus. Also useful to the workers at the big shipping companies like White star and Cunard. And this is in addition to the mainline train station and underground train loop. A lot of public transport systems for a small city. Add in Taxi services and the airport and cross river ferry and it just shows how it's possible to cram all this into a limited land space. Quote
danim Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Edinburgh also has a tram system under construction also what is that blue thing just above the pantograph of the tram Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Edinburgh also has a tram system under constructionalso what is that blue thing just above the pantograph of the tram For some reason I think it's just a blue plate that just infront of the bike rack on that other shelter. I wonder when we'll get more pictures of this AWESOME set ? I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
Piranha Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Actually the yellow car is 4 wide plus mudguard width. The bonnet (hood) looks to be made of curved bricks  You are right Quote
Freddie Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Brickset recently discovered that Amazon.co.jp had listed this year's advent calendars, complete with high-res pictures. Figured that some of you would like to study them (Castle-calendar). Quote

All the micro LEGO sets are very funny and so is the showering Santa I will surely buy this one and the Kingdoms too when they come out. Great sets! Quote
Sandy Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Looks like this year's City Advent Calendar's theme is a family's home in a Christmas. Nice concept, I'm just disappointed by the number of minifigs and the lack of any new parts. Compared to the Castle calendar, which is a must-get for me, this one has nothing much to offer... Quote
prateek Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Wait a minute... is that a new dog/puppy? It looks smaller than usual... Anyways, I love those mini vehicles, and the figs are awesome too Quote
Sandy Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Wait a minute... is that a new dog/puppy? It looks smaller than usual... Nope, it's the same one we've had for years. A new dog breed (and a non-crouching cat) would be nice, though. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) Thank you very much for the new and detailed pics of the advent calendar, Freddie and grogall! The advent calendar - or let's better say its contents - are amazing! It's great to get a whole family, I really like all that brick-built toys which could be added to the Winter Toy Shop and to the City House (or you can build your own playground and place them there), the keyboard and the drumset are great, it's always good to get some food pieces (esp. the french bread) and the halfpipe looks excellent, too (only a bit small), so do all these interior decorations. The only two things I do not like that much, are Santa under the shower (kiddish! but ok, that advent calendar is mainly for kids) and the small train (it would have been great if people could sit in the waggons!). And it's a pity that we only do get six minifigs. On the other hand you can't get everything - and I can really do without police man, street cleaner etc. I'll buy this one for sure! Wait a minute... is that a new dog/puppy? It looks smaller than usual... I don't think som prateek. It's surely the regular dog. Klaus-Dieter Edited May 15, 2010 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
