Oky Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Well done, Pi. You even built the stand out of parts from the set! I too thought about making a venator with this BP, but I would have never thought of using the clones' legs as hinges. Very clever. It would have been nice though if the bridge area was a bit more accurate. Looks like I started a new trend for BP alternatives. Thanks for all the comments on the Twilight. I will try to figure out a way to post instructions, but if you look closely, you will be able to figure out how to build it just by looking at the pictures. It's not that complicated. Quote
ILikePi Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) These are the second and third of my four MOCs I'll be posting to celebrate my birthday. Enjoy! I've got two alternative models to present to everyone today. The first is an alternative model of the Assassin Droids Battle Pack speeder. I got the inspiration from someone's MOC I saw long ago before making it, although I can't remember the author was: I put in a mini scout robot, which attaches to the stand: The second is a alternative model of the speederbike from the Snowtrooper Battle Pack (finally got it done Oky Wan! ): Plus a picture of the three Star Wars MOCs altogether (with a sneak preview of the final MOC until I create a topic for it): You can find the other MOCs here and here. Comments welcome! Edited May 20, 2010 by ILikePi Quote
Oky Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) Nice ones, Pi! I like the speeder, and the detachable drone is a neat addition. Reminds me of the last ExoForce sets. As for the speederbike, well, to be honest, I was expecting something more innovative and less... speederbikey. It kinda just looks like you turned the chasis around. But it's still nice. I had some alternatives to share of my own, so thanks for saving me the time to dig up this thread again. The first one is a UCS STAP! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to build a stable stand for it out of the remaining parts though. The second one? Well, I haven't gotten around to taking pics of it yet, but I'll post it soon. I hope you liked it, and that I inspired you to make some small UCS sets yourselves. Oh, and Happy B-Day Pi! Edited May 19, 2010 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
AnseltheCat Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Oky, that STAP is very, very cool. Good work, sir. Quote
Big Cam Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Wow, these are really good MOC's and all made from such small sets. Pi I really like your Venetar. Quote
DLangRI Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I was reading this topic earlier, and I suffer from 4 dropships (I like Imperial Stormtroopers and Shadowtroopers). I like the dropship, but 4 just is too many for me. Until now they were just stored away in their own container, until this thread got me thinking. I present (made from 3 Imp Dropships), the Imperial Delta-Landing craft! Lord Vader, if we're going to conquer this planet we need more troops! Very Well. Summon more forces! This is unacceptable. Y-yes, Lord Vader. SEND DOWN A DELTA-LANDING CRAFT! This will do nicely. Front Section Front Rear Side Cockpit Open Since I had three windshields I created a tri-bubble cockpit. Also, rather than use the original set's Shadowtrooper, I used an 'AT-AT' driver. The side boosters swivel and the landing gear move up and down slightly for a shock-type effect. One of the cockpit hinges from the original set helps to lock the rear compartment in. Rear Section (Troop Bay/Assault Vehicle) Front Rear Sides Unloaded For the rear compartment, I wanted to make something that just wasn't a troop bay. I struggled with a ramp (though it didn't look right) so I opted for an open back compartment. It holds 6 troopers comfortably with two on the wings/shooting platforms. I'm contemplating disassembling the 4th dropship to enhance the rear section, but I kept this as a three ship construction. Every piece was used. The only 'cheat' is a small technic bar I have free in the cockpit brackets that keep the side windscreens up. Link to the gallery with the full sizes. Quote
The Legonater Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Some very nicde MOCs there, guys. Keep it up! Quote
MandalorianWig Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Theres lots of great custom designs here! I bought tons of battle packs over the years and piled all the parts in a lego bucket never to be used again. Think i may dig them out now! Quote
brickfoot Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 I really like your cockpit design. Good job DLangRI. Quote
chris_austin Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Has anyone tried an alternative for the 8083 Rebel (snow) Trooper BP? I've tried for over 90 mins and I can't make a darn thing! Is it just my lack of imagination or is the parts selection limited and restrictive? I almost made a guitar but it looked so wrong. Quote
mutley777 Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 Has anyone tried an alternative for the 8083 Rebel (snow) Trooper BP? I've tried for over 90 mins and I can't make a darn thing! Well I did put this together back in march but forgot to post it here. Once again this is made from 2 BP and forcing myself to use every part!. Quote
prateek Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 That is awesome. Now I want to get 2 Hoth BPs just to make this! Quote
The Nightwing Reborn Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 That is awesome. Now I want to get 2 Hoth BPs just to make this! Ditto! I didn't think you could make anything out of those! I'm also loving that huge dropship DLangRI! Quote
pedro Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Hey, Fed-up with your 8083 Ice Cutter? I cracked open another one of these sets during my lunchbreak the other day and ignoring the instrcutions completely, put this together... The Rapid Cargo Transport Speeder or R-CaTS was utilised by the Rebel Alliance, particularly during their occupation of Hoth. This lightweight but sturdy speeder could quickly transport small cargo and personnel from post to post. Most ground vehicles would struggle with the frozen climate of Hoth but due to the inexpensive and highly serviceable nature of the R-CaTs, it could easily be renewed, stripped for parts or abandoned if needs be. As such many of these vehicles can be found in and around the now abandoned Rebel Base on Hoth. Rapid Cargo Transport Speeder Top View The speeder can hold another minifig standing or the trooper's backpack stows away nicely between the pilot's seat and cargo container. Rear View After creating the 'scenic base' this left a couple of parts spare including the 2 x 10 brick. I did add a single white cheese slope - I think by now everyone has an abundance of those! XimenaPaulina Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 It's great to see you back MOCing pedro! It's been a long time. This speeder is a great alternative to the Ice-Cutter, looks faster and more maneuverable than its predecessor. Quote
Masked Builder Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Those are great alternate models every one! Quote
Ritz Brick Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Agreed Just wondering, Oky and Pi, how durable are they? or do they fall apart on a whim? Quote
Mr Man Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Hi I have being watching this site for a long time but have only just decided to join. Here is my Battle pack alternative of 8014 the TC2 speeder (Troop carrying speeder and my second attempt). the TC2 Speeder - the speeder with the troop caring facility with the troops. - next to my idea of the new mandalorian speeder. Quote
Clonie Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 I made this BARC Speeder from the 7655 Clone BP by dissecting the turret. I like it more than TLG's official BARC Speeders, but that's just me. Quote
sok117 Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I'm sick today, so I thought I'd try my hand at some battlepack alternatives for the Hoth Rebel battlepack. My first one is a speeder type thing, And next up is a tank sort of thing, I think it looks pretty cool Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Those two alternates for the Ice Cutter look good sok! They are even better-looking than their predecessor. I especially like the second one since it can accommodate three Hoth rebels. BTW, get well soon! Quote
