Matn Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 A tiny, dark platform where the Hogwarts Express ends its journey north from Platform Nine-And-Three-Quarters. The station is located near the lake, and from there a road extends around the lake to Hogwarts Castle. The station is actually quite a distance from the town itself, being on the opposite side of the Hogwarts grounds. People are waiting for the train to arrive. Some of them have been to Hogsmeade for business, others for shopping. Hagrid is waiting to welcome to first years and then go with them to the Hogwarts Castle with the boats. As you can see, this is not the tiny and dark platform. Let's say, after the defeat of the Dark Lord the Ministry of Magic invested in a new Hogsmeade Station. They upgraded the whole building and it now not only serves as a railway station, but also as a restaurant and hotel. The custom decals are made by myself and I was inspired by bricktrix for the footbridge. More pictures at: Brickshelf: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=444853 MOCpages: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/225027 Flickr: I hope you like it! I've started building this in August 2009, the roof was then ready. In February it was almost ready, but then I lost interest in it. In the summer holiday I placed some orders and I finally finished it last Sunday. A lot has changed in a year, I kept adjusting it until I was satisfied (unfortunately I've deleted WIP photos and I can't find my first sketches). It's my biggest (and most expensive) project ever and I'm happy with the result. It's going to be a part of my Hogsmeade layout. Quote
castlestrike666 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Matn, to say it in English this time Amazing creation! Hope to see it one day on one of our Clubmeetings Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Wow, the best of them all. It's hard to take it all in. Quote

lightningtiger Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Oh, goodness this is totally AWESOME 'Matn' - what a beautiful station and with such detail....your finest work yet ! The platform and red overhead walkway is sheer beauty plus that tudor style building....what else can I say, but AWESOME ! I'm a conformist! 'Matn' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Etzel Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Stunning work, Matn! I understand why it took a long time to finish, it's perfect! You've really paid attention to details in the MOC and there are so many great parts to look at and admire. Not only are the station's exterior extremely well done with fitting colours, but the interior is also high class, I really like all the furniture. Very good, I say once again! Quote
I Scream Clone Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Sheer beauty Matn! Well worth the time and cash invested into it Love the rock work on the building, the Tudor style upstairs, dobby hanging out the window, and that bridge is really something special! Can you tell me the bricks you have used to fix the dak grey tiles on the corner? Are they the Travis bricks? If so how did you put other bricks next to them? Your Harry Potter display is really a great effort all round. Cheers ISC. Quote
CommanderFox Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 wow, i love looking at this Matn! I love that vibrant red, really makes it look crisp. The platform is lovely, love the smooth look and the little shelter. So cute! just...wow! CF Quote
Ceroknight Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Wow that is awesome..I like the details and how realistic the trees look like. Also I like the pattern on your chimney Quote
TheWarden Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Incredible! I don't think I can do justice using words. Don't know anything about HP, but this is great. Full of nice details from: - dirt texture at rails - planter styles (not sure if I have seen that 2x2 tile version before) - Tudor dark frame style - great trees! - all kinds of nice slope bricks and elements for the walk-over - bay windows look gorgeous Could go on, to the interiors, at least. Sorry, I always try to include some criticism or help in my reviews, but I'm at a loss here. Great style, and "I'm a conformist!!" (as another user says) Matn! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) This is absolutely gorgeous Matn, you have done it again! The details are just perfect (too many to mention), heck, everything is perfect! Very impressive work of art. Just one minor (but big) observation, where's the Hogwart's Express? Forgive my lack of HP knowledge, but isn't that train supposed to be in this station? It would have been more perfect if the train was part of the MOC. Edited September 9, 2010 by KielDaMan Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 This is just superb. I want to steal it for the Train forum! The tudor style is excellent and I never knew a classic style red roof would look so good. The platform is amazing, especially the use of the classic red fence pieces. This entire scene is a beautiful LEGO creation with class and charm. Top notch! Quote
Sandy Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Whoa, it looks awesome - and this coming from someone who's not even a fan of trains. It's obvious you put a lot of time, energy and money into this, but it paid off since the outcome is flawless. The minifigs bring a suitable contrast to the little modernities in the MOC. It's really great you decided to bring the world of Harry Potter into the current century. Very well done! Quote
Rick Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Excellent work Matn. So much attention to detail. The stone work around the entrance is great and I'm amazed at how you managed to achieve all those angles on the footbridge. Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 This is just so outstanding! Real beautiful piece of work! It's so peaceful, quiet and very scenic too. This can also make a very fine train station in a town set up too. This is now blogged in, Quote
The Penguin Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Great job, Matn! I really like the "cleanness" of your MOC. The red roof indeed works nicely here, however I still wonder what'd it look like in a dark red color. Nevertheless, it's a great MOC, with lot's of small detail, what I personally value most of all. Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Quote
Teddy Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Real quality MOC! I really love the fact you took the effort to build a fitting interior and make custom decals. Everything adds to an outstanding degree of detailing. As for the roof in dark-red. It might have looked nice to have a combination of the current roof with several small dark red roof bricks. To give the illusion of roof tiles. But, either way, I like the roof as it is. Quote
kris kelvin Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 It looks very, very nice overall :D Great work. Quote
Sirius Black Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Wow! This is one of the best Harry Potter mocs that i have seen. The station looks incredible, and has a good resemblance to the actual one in the movie. The overpass is excellent as well. You are really getting along in your Hogsmeade project! What's next on the list for you? Great Job Sirius Quote
Vindicare Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) So, can we get a progress picture of all MOCs arranged together? I'm trying to remember the layout of Hogsmeade...but I don't think they're close to each other. How many more are you going to build? I hope you have a HUGE room to put the completed MOC in, because if you do all mentioned shops, it's going to be big. Edited September 9, 2010 by Legocrazy81 Quote
Jeanne Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I'm so jealous! You are a great builder! I too build Harry Potter. Quote
Marco Cancellieri Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 This Moc is really great, you have a very clean building style! In the movies, we see every time Hogsmeade Station in the night, but with these colours has a nice look, according to shops and houses! I hope to see other pics of your big Hogsmeade in the future! This is my first message in Eurobricks, I just read for some week... but I had to reply now! I'm happy to see a lot of Lego HP fans, in my LUG no one tells about it! Quote
legotrainfan Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I love the green around the building. It's a wonderful railway station. You could easily convert it into a normal (= non Harry Potter) station if you wanted to. Excellent work! Quote
Matn Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 Wow! Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all the nice comments. For those who said it would fit in a LEGO town, it certainly would. I'm probably going to place it in my own (now messed up) table town. Actually, it's only Hogsmeade Station in name as it doesn't bare resemblance to the Goathland Station, used for filming in the first film. In the middle of the building process I thought of building the Goathland Station instead, but I'd thought a tudor styled building would look nicer together with other buildings of the same style. Perhaps I'll try it in the future, but I'm satisfied with my made-up Hogsmeade Station for now. Now, let's answer some questions. Can you tell me the bricks you have used to fix the dak grey tiles on the corner? Are they the Travis bricks? If so how did you put other bricks next to them? It's indeed with Travis bricks. On each Travis bricks there is a technic 1x1 brick with hole on the sides. I did it like that so it also looked good from the inside, because with technic 1x1 bricks you could see the pin sitting. Just one minor (but big) observation, where's the Hogwart's Express? Forgive my lack of HP knowledge, but isn't that train supposed to be in this station? It would have been more perfect if the train was part of the MOC. Ah, yes, it would have been nice to added the train. But I don't own any of those great steam train wheels (or Big Ben Wheels). For my layout in November I'm probably going to use a modified official LEGO Hogwarts Express, unless I get myself some of those wheels. And perhaps the train would have been a distraction here. This is just superb. I want to steal it for the Train forum! I had a tough time deciding where to put the station, actually. It's only Harry Potter in name, but then again the Licensed forum needs more LEGO Harry Potter. Perhaps it could be added to the train index? The red roof indeed works nicely here, however I still wonder what'd it look like in a dark red color. As for the roof in dark-red. It might have looked nice to have a combination of the current roof with several small dark red roof bricks. To give the illusion of roof tiles. But, either way, I like the roof as it is. I've thought about that, but then I already bought the boxes of red slopes. Perhaps when I have enough dark red slopes to put in some variation I'll do it. It would look nice indeed. The station looks incredible, and has a good resemblance to the actual one in the movie. The overpass is excellent as well. You are really getting along in your Hogsmeade project! What's next on the list for you? Weird, it's not even based on the Goathland Station. The footbridge looks a bit the same, though. As for the next buildings: I'm not sure yet. I'm running out of (mainly reddish brown) bricks and plates, so it will probably be the Shrieking Shack and then when I've made some Bricklink orders a couple of other ones. We'll see. So, can we get a progress picture of all MOCs arranged together? I'm trying to remember the layout of Hogsmeade...but I don't think they're close to each other. How many more are you going to build? I hope you have a HUGE room to put the completed MOC in, because if you do all mentioned shops, it's going to be big. The Hogsmeade Station is actually on the opposite side of Hogsmeade, the lake in between them. But for my layout, I'll just place it all together with a track around the little village. I'm going to build a lot more buildings, but it'll hopefully be spread over next year. If it looks good with only the shops, then I won't build any regular houses. I'll only put the town together a few days before the next BeLUG event (on the table or floor or so), so I can see what fits best and I get pack them immediately to take them with me. All the separate MOCs are currently spread in my room and LEGO corner. This is my first message in Eurobricks, I just read for some week... but I had to reply now! Glad to see a creation of made has convinced you to join! That makes me happy. Again, thank you all very much for all these nice comments! Quote
