Superkalle Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 - The container itself is "floating", due to the limitations of LDD. Which are the limitations? Quote
C3POwen Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Which are the limitations? The container is not actually attached to anything, and LDD has no concept of gravity or physical interaction based on anything other than element connectivity, so I couldn't just simply lay the container on the back of the truck. Instead, I had to build up a small stack of bricks at the back, attach the container, and then remove the bricks. Quote

A small note to @AndyC: for all the sets you've made with "old brown", you need to use 25 Earth Orange instead of 217 Brown - a mistake I made before, and didn't realize at the time. Quote
J4ke Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 (edited) Right, thought I'd give this a go. Makes a change from designing my own stuff, I guess. 2263 Turbo Shredder - Ninjago -Replaced prints -Replaced gold handle-thingy with a lightsaber hilt. -Replaced straw hat with 3x3 dish. -Couldn't fit the canopy on, too many angles to adjust, left it to the side. -Treads won't fit on. -Rear wheels wouldn't fit close enough together. Not sure if it's a collision error or just my inability to line the pieces up precisely enough. I'm guessing the latter. -Some colours are possibly off. Even though I have the actual model in front of me, I can't work out what colour the 3L technic rods with end studs are meant to be. LXF File Edited January 24, 2011 by J4ke Quote
Superkalle Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Connection points on bottom of train plate don't allow underside to attach For the engine, if you use plate 92087 instead of the faulty 92339 it should work. For the cockpit piece, can you not color the glass bit "clear" as a visual workaround? Also, interesting to notice the design of the truck trailer coupling. As the technic x-axle will not fit all the way in, it will make the trailer hook on to a slight angle. It looks nice (and more realistic), but is it not putting stress on the bricks, something TLG normally is allergic too? Quote
AndyC Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 (edited) A small note to @AndyC: for all the sets you've made with "old brown", you need to use 25 Earth Orange instead of 217 Brown - a mistake I made before, and didn't realize at the time. Oops, rookie mistake. I think I must've read the peeron name chart wrong first time and then stuck with it. I did think it looked a bit washed-out. I've fixed and reuploaded all the models with the wrong brown, I think, though I've not bothered to redo preview images for them yet. For the engine, if you use plate 92087 instead of the faulty 92339 it should work. I presume you ment part 4093 rather than 92087 (which isn't even a part) - not sure why I didn't think of that, re-uploaded with that changed. Unfortunately the cockpit is all one piece and can't be coloured separately, so the window has to stay an ugly yellow for now. The truck trailer coupling is a wierd one. It doesn't do that on the real model and mathematically it shouldn't either. I can't for the life of me figure out why it doesn't fit together properly in LDD though, I spent a while trying all manner of combinations. I'll add that to the notes, it might be a boundary bug somewhere. EDIT: Ah, got it. It's because the red 2x2 axle should be able to extend slightly further up into the anti-stud of the plate above, but LDD doesn't let it which is why the trailer sits too high. Judicious use of the hide tool and dismantling of the real thing confirms it. Edited January 24, 2011 by AndyC Quote

AndyC Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 (edited) The following are modified versions of the original LDD instructions for the 10183 Hobby Train set, updated so that they all work in LDD4 with the exception of the notes below. 10183 Hobby Train - Theme: Trains 01 Locomotive 02 Caboose 03 Gondola 04 Locomotive 05 Locomotive 06 Locomotive 07 Freight 08 Locomotive 09 Steam Engine 10 Carriage 11 Locomotive 12 Locomotive 13 Locomotive 14 Trolley Car 15 Tank Car 16 Locomotive 17 Locomotive 18 Trolley Car 19 Locomotive 20 Switcher 21 Steam Engine 22 Train 23 Locomotive 24 Switcher 25 Train 26 Freight 27 Locomotive 28 Gondola 29 Switcher 30 Caboose Notes: Model 1 Locomotive and Model 14 Trolley Car Part 6140 Hanger, used on model 1 pantograph and at either end of the car 14, won't attach to part 30377 Space Skeleton Arm, so left detached nearby. Model 4 Locomotive Uses an illegal building technique, namely attaching 1x1 bricks with studs on two sides to a 1x1 technic brick via the side studs. Two black 1x1 with studs on both sides replaced by purple 1x1 with stud on 1 side, black pieces left by side. Model 22 Train Four 1x1 technic bricks don't fit in, I'm not sure whether it's strictly a legal build or just a spacing issue, left by the sides. Should be fairly obvious where they are supposed to fit. Edited February 1, 2012 by AndyC Quote
