WesternOutlaw Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 I was looking at some classic city sets today and stumbled upon this old set, 1620 Chocolate Factory. I remember many "old-timers", but I don't recall the set at all. It appears to have been a promotional set from Holland. Do any of you remember this great classic? The roof design is featured in the Legoland (#6000) Idea Book. I remember copying the design and modyfing the building a number of times years ago. Quote
Matn Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 (edited) De enige échte. It looks very nice, it shouts to be rereleased. *opens LDD* Edited May 24, 2008 by Matn Quote
Shoc Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Good looking set, but I don't see much factory, rather a large red building. And no Chocomel either! Yummm, Chocomel. :skull: Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Great find, TheBrickster! Yes, that was an amazing set! I really like the design of an old factory house, the flower market stand, the elevator and the nice minifigs. What I don't like so much is that it is a very little house and that the car has no interior and no doors. But despite from that it's simply amazing! It would be totally  if TLG releases a set like this - but please not in CC style ! About one year ago I made a proposal for a new chocolate factory here while thinking of that set, too.) Shadows Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 I love sets like this, even though they lack the kind of detail I'd like to see (and I'm no fan of 4-wide cars). The beauty was the simplicity and innocence, people just going about their lives. No conflict, no problems, just happy little lives. They reflect the simpler side of LEGO, much like this pre-minifig set: I like to think that the modular building line has brought some of that representation of daily life back, but in a larger and more modernized package, the same way Beach House recaptured some of the old style houses we used to get. As much as I love the modular line, I miss these little sets. It doesn't take 1300 pieces to create something nice, sets like these prove it. Thanks for sharing this, TheBrickster! Quote

Yes, exactly, well said. I loved the simplicity, yet the amount of detail captured in such a small number of pieces. This is what Classic Lego did so well, not just with city, but Castle, Wild West, Trains, and other themes. I really like this building style. Quote

Ok, I'll admit, it's all I could find quickly, and while not the most attractive building, it almost looks like LEGO to me. Well... almost. Quote
