3834 - Good Neighbors in Bikini Bottom (SpongeBob's Pineapple)

Year: 2009

Theme: SpongeBob SquarePants

Piece Count: 425

Number of Minifigs: 4

Price: $40 USD ($46 USD at Toys "R" Us)

This LEGO SpongeBob set was amazing! The pineapple house almost resembles the one found on the cartoon. The facial expression on SpongeBob's face, as well as Squidward's head are new to this set. The pineapple's interior is minimalist, but has lots of interior details, such as the portraits of Patrick and Gary. The boatmobile is just your standard boatmobile, but with an added marshmallow launcher. The addition of furniture is what make this set amazing. The barbecue grill functions as a catapult for the Krabby Patty.

Final thoughts:

Way better than what you see on the box. Although the set is minimalist for such a big, $40.00 set, you get lots of furniture which is a plus. SpongeBob's pineapple has a stylistically accurate living room, with pictures of Patrick, and Gary, as well as the fish lure hanging on the wall, instead of a basketball hoop and stepladder this time. It is well worth the price if you're collecting SpongeBob SquarePants LEGO sets, or if you like the SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon. The only two letdowns are that this set includes a bed with no foghorn alarm clock, and that there is no jellyfish net included.

Happy 10th Anniversary, SpongeBob SquarePants!

1999-2009

If possible, can you try to get better quality images, if not it's fine, but I can barely seen the detials on the figures and in the house.

I took these pictures at night in my bedroom. I tried to fix this on Flickr. It's the best that I can do.

The problem is most are very out of focus. If you put something behind the subject when you take the photo, like a piece of cardboard or a LEGO baseplate, you'll have much better results. Processing the image later can't fix problems like that... unless your name is Rick Deckard.

If I may ask what type of camera are you using. Also it may be a nice idea to join the Reviewers Academy.

I'm using a VistaQuest VQ5115 camera.

Ahh! Well a camera like that will never give great images, but you should be able to do better with practice. Maybe you should take Skelotic's advice!

Mr. Walrus meant well. We love to read reviews, but we need better pictures to provide a better visual experience for the benefit of the community. I will really hope to see an improved version in the future, so I could include this review into our index. :classic:

Ever thought of learning how to do Reviews?

Which would a kid enjoy more, the old one or this new one? Anyway, are those pics on brickshelf, I would like to see 'em.

The new one, because it has more furniture.
