danim Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 (edited) Hi Guys I have, as you may already know decided to build a minifig scale model of a Royal Navy Typre 45 Destroyer, this will be an ongoing moc and as I complete sections I will post here as well as any questions I may have for some of the great modellers here. I am not sure how long this model will take to be built but I am estimating about 1 year The model will have a detailed bridge and hanger. So first the approxamate specs: Scale = 1/45th Length = about 3.38m Hight = 74cm The hip will be built in about 7 main sections with things like the mast, gun and bridge and hanger being seperate sections. What I will also do is post proof of concept models which will then tell me what you guys think of each section Edited January 20, 2010 by danim Quote
prateek Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Sounds good. Just to let you know, you'll need a lot of BL orders Quote
danim Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 I know that is why I am doing it over a period of time Quote
danim Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 First up for the proof of concept is the 4.5 inch gun on the proper version of the gun the barrel will be covered by technic round connectors as well as having the body of the gun done as well What do you think of this proof of concept and is there any suggestions that you have Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 G'day 'Damin', er war ships are meant to go in the 'OTHER LEGO THEMES' department. Anyway you could look at the copy cats of Lego like MB amd Cobi - they do war ships. Also check brickshelf for the Yamato - one huge minifig scale war ship and if you have LDD, use it (very handy to try ideas out first on computer). I wish you luck and I'm a conformist! 'Damin' ! danim Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 I realised that it was in the wrong section after I posted it (could a mod please move this) I do'nt like using 3d cad programs for lego, I prefer to see them as a real thing rather than on a screen as you can get a much better idea of scale and weight Quote
