Disclaimer: This is not an official Eurobricks Community Build, nor is it an unofficial contest. It is a group Flickr project, inspired by the larger Shiptember Flickr group.

Here's the basic idea for BioSHIPtember:

All entrants build a spaceship in LDD at least 100 studs long, and complete it by October 1st.

*If you start a WIP topic, you can link it any time between now and October 1st. I will keep the page updated.

The rules are simple:

• The theme is "Bionicle In Space". Interpretation is left up to the builder.
  
• Ships must be at least 100 studs long. Antenna do count. No ships longer than 250(The chances of anyone submitting a ship this long are small, but it'd save time for the renderer).
  
• All building must be finished by 12:00 UTC, October 1st, 2014.
  
• It must seat at least 1 Bionicle sized figurine. The choice of how to interpret that is up to the builder(Toa, minifig toa, Matoran - all are acceptable).
  
• You must post at least one picture in the main BioSHIPtember Group, and a link in your description to your .lfx.
  

Still lacking:

1 person willing to take all of the final .lfxs, and compile them in one giant BioSHIPtember render.

There's no reason we can't do both.

BioSHIPtember is specifically for the idea of Bionicle and spaceships. I'm fully in favor of BIOctober.

It's gonna be hard to build a SHIP in 16 days, even in LDD. If someone builds a 100+ studs tall Mata Nui robot, would that count ?

That is a good question...

I did say that

Interpretation is left up to the builder.

, but after careful consideration, I'm afraid that it wouldn't count, as the general intention of the pool is to build Bionicle spaceships, not robots. A robot that turned into a spaceship would count, though.

BioSHIPtember is more to give us something Bionicle-flavoured until the October reveals/leaks. Bioctober sounds awesome, though. I might be able to do something for that...

I'm pretty excited about this. In fact, it was the reason that pushed me over the edge on why I decided to create a Eurobricks account. Not trying to be funny, but what's the loosest definition of "ship" that you'll allow?

The loosest definition? That's a hard one...

Basically, if it sort of looks like a space-ship, or you can make a moderately good argument why it counts, it's allowed. Like I said with Leewan, a robot wouldn't count(if it's just standing there), but a robot that turns into a spaceship would count. Or, if the robot stays a robot, but is being flown through space by Matoran/Toa, that would count also. Say it's a space station - without boosters, it doesn't count, but it has boosters on the back that could theoretically propel it through space, it counts.

Like I said - the interpretation is up to the builder.

BIOctober is coming up fast! In about three days, after the "Big Reveal," we should start planning out what the theme for that is/rules. BioSHIPtember is supposed to be a bit more freebuild, BIOctober should be a bit more structured.

What exactly is BIOoctober? Is that where you build bionicle style titan or something? Because I'm not very good with SHIPs, but that I could do.

We don't actually have a theme for it yet(e.g., what we are going to build). Feel free to contribute in the discussion!
