Garmadon Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 After receiving a notice from Sir Uridius Dratiphe to return to Mitgardia, I started thence with a light and joyful heart. Upon reaching the border I reined in for a moment to gaze at the awe-inspiring sight. Who that has seen those rough plateau and snow-clad hills can but sense a thrill of joy on returning? Then, breaking into a gallop, I started for the mountains - homeward bound. Mitgardia! - Sir Douglass Winzer Figless: Just a quick little build to get Sir Douglass back from Avalonia. I would like to recieve UoP credit for: Landscape Design: (trees 2) General Building: (forced perspective) Geography: (mountains or cliffs) C&C are welcome! Quote
LordDan Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Nice scene! I really like the small mountains, but I think for it to rally work they either need to be a few studs farther back or the picture focused on the rider with a blurry background. Quote
cablefoxley Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) Nice moc but I agree with dan, maybe the mountains being a couple of studs back might look better. Nice use of fig hands for a flag, really neat Edited September 19, 2014 by cablefoxley Quote
BrickCurve Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 This is great! One of the best forced perspective models I have ever seen! UoP +1 Quote
IenjoyLego89 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Nice scene mate :) I like the use of forced perspective but I think it would make more impact a little further back :) Quote
robuko Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 The mountain build and the flag are great. I think the moc would benefit from an intermediate horizon between Sir Winzer and the mountains to enhance the FP effect. Quote
Kai NRG Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Neat little build, I agree with others that the FP would work better if it were farther away. Great tree! +1 for the credits (as the FP does look good!) Quote
Jakorin Swiftsword Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Nice job! The rockwork is fantastic and I love that little tree. Quote
Garmadon Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 Thanks all! Nice scene! I really like the small mountains, but I think for it to really work they either need to be a few studs farther back or the picture focused on the rider with a blurry background. Thanks LD, I would have liked to blur the background a little, but the mountains were to close to the rider to do that. This is great! One of the best forced perspective models I have ever seen! UoP +1 Thanks BrickCurve! The mountain build and the flag are great. I think the moc would benefit from an intermediate horizon between Sir Winzer and the mountains to enhance the FP effect. Thanks robuko, yes, the FP would probably have worked a better with the mountains farther away Neat little build, I agree with others that the FP would work better if it were farther away. Great tree! +1 for the credits (as the FP does look good!) Thanks Kai! Nice job! The rockwork is fantastic and I love that little tree. Thanks Jakorin Quote
gedren_y Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I agree that the forced perspective could have been better, but depending on your camera, that could have been done by changing the angle and focus of the shot. A lower angle with a focus on the horse might have given the intended effect. UoP DoH +1 for all claims. Quote
mccoyed Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Ah the soul stirs for the mighty rocky peaks of Mitgardia. Quote

A lower angled shot is a good suggestion, the only problem being that it makes the ground look a little odd Ah the soul stirs for the mighty rocky peaks of Mitgardia. Thanks Mccoyed! Quote
MassEditor Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Cool scene Garmadon! I like the colors and the FP works well enough I think. Quote
Aland1916 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Beautiful landscape and tree, nice scene! Quote
Gideon Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Nice scene! The mountains look very good but I agree that a narrower depth of field would have improved the FP illusion. UoP +1. Quote
Yzalirk Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Nice little build and I like the flag in the background using hands to represent it's in the distance. The mountains also look pretty good too so nice job. Quote

Scaevola Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 +1 UoP DoH for all claims. Very nice moc, I really like how you made the mountains. I agree the forced perspective would b better farther back (it isn't quite pulled off), but very nice job nonetheless Quote
Gunman Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Well thought about looking back to Mitgardia :) I really like that tree, its well made. Quote
