I just saw this on BZP:

Lego Community Development Editor in Chief and BZPower member Greg Farshtey is announcing a new addition to the BrickMaster magazine - completely exclusive Lego sets. These sets will include representatives from Star Wars, City, Indiana Jones, and our own favorite, Bionicle. These sets will have a retail value ranging from US $5.99 - $6.99 and will not be available anywhere else. Beginning on July 16, this new offer will be available both by phone (call 1-800-651-0323) and on LEGOshop.com under offer #KBM27. A subscription will not include the "From the Vaults" CD-ROM but will instead provide a six-issue, one-year subscription with one exclusive set per issue. The first of these issues will release November 2007.

This does sound interesting, and it's not really a loss to get rid of the "from the vaults" :-| all they had were stuff from Lego.com.

Not so neat, honestly. Brickmaster isn't available here. And even if it was, I wouldn't pay the price of it just for the exclusive sets.

Hmm, interesting stuff. It looks like they're simply trying to lure more people to subscribe to the brickmaster magazine. (I may be stating the obvious. :-P) I doubt I'll sign up.

Good point.I'll just wait till the sets themselves come out. ;-)

There's a little problem.

well, i hope the 6 sets will have star wars or indiana jones unique mfs. if it's mostly bionicle i am going to be so pissed off. >:-( *n*

6 sets for $39.99 isn't that bad, tbh. the risk of missing out on any exclusive mfs (sw or ij) is too high to pass up on this. :-P i guess i gotta sign up come july 16!

gylman, I concur!

Let's just all give America more stuff while ignoring Canada and Europe, not to mention Central and South America, Asia, Antarctica, Australia, Oceania, and other planets.

Let's hope they expand at least a bit.

Ah, that's what I always tought!

Lego, you're really really silly at making stuff exclusive to America. You sure loose portions of potential customers!

I am curious how much of the sales that Lego make are in the US. From the way they act it must be 75%. Anyone know?

au contrary. us is still small compared to eu. the reason for the super duper exclusive deals is to entice more future customers. just like cellphone and cable companies providing promos and special packages/deals to new customers instead of old. since they feel us can still grow, they give more promo to us customers. :-P just migrate to the us...like the beckhams! :-)

Not my favorite option, but I have seriously considered it. The US of A however doesn't know how to make good chocolate. I was in San Diego for three months (RADAR course for the Australian Navy) and I was hanging out for decent chocolate the entire time. I would need to find a cheap way to import it from elsewhere first; not much point moving to save money on Lego if I then spend more money on chocolate!

While it tends to be very expensive to ship to Austrailia, isn't it fairly cheap to ship out of Austrailia? Just get someone to ship it to you :-P

Of course the US has good chocolate. M&M's,Milky Way,Snickers,Nestle,Hersheys, ect.

But don't come to my area. The stores I know that have Lego number up to 3. And they're limted at what they sale.

But that is exactly what I am talking about. The US seem to refuse to sell plain chocolate in decent sized portions. M&Ms for example are more candy than chocolate. Even Nestle, which sell OK chocolate in Australia, don't seem to in the US. I think it is simply a case that Americans don't want plain chocolate, while in Australia it is common for 250 gram blocks to be sold. I could never find anything like that when I was there. But it could simply be a case of being in the wrong location.

Nope. Pretty much the only place you'll find that sells blocks of chocolate (and I don't mean Hersheys :-X ) is gonna be a mom-and-pop type of candy store. They'll sell what you're looking for. They're not that hard to find, every town has a few.

Ahh, well that was my mistake. To save money (the exchange rate at the time was 0.50 cents) I rarely left base. I thus did all my shopping at the NEX (Navy Exchange I believe), and all they had were the :-X Hershey bars.

let's stick to topic shall we? ;-) this talk about chocolate is futile anyway. we all know the best chocolate is belgian...same with beer. ;-)

actually now that i have time to think about it, i think you guys dont need to worry about a thing. i recall seeing some of the brickmaster mags, and the exclusive sets they have are mostly constructed of bricks. i remember just seeing an exclusive set in the past month or so. the set was a batman mecha. they call it mecha but it's really a robot in the shape of batman. you can probably make it yourself using bricks. i dunno...maybe i will subscribe and review the sets for EB. :-P

Back on topic, as ordered ;-) , in most cases the Brickmaster sets are small and not very special. Often you can get them in other ways, such as with Scholastic books. I can't say that I am very stressed about this news. Even so, if Brickmaster was available for Australians I would subscribe; I love recieving Lego in the mail!

Thats a good idea !! G where devotion to EB leads you :-D I really want to see those new exclusive licensed sets !!

Lets hope that a major company makes a deal with TLC for Indy sets in 2008 like Quick or McDOnalds hehe !!
