Captain Braunsfeld Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 167A Ahoy, I am happy to present a brigg [sorry: it seems to be "brig" in English] with custom sails - the India (because of the galion): I have tried custom sails before but without the custom rigging. This time I am quite happy about the result. Then I found that the pictures look much better with a decent blue background: The crew is famous, as usual I hope you enjoy this (small) brigg and I am looking forward to comments that tell me that the "rear sail" is incorret . So, we sail into the sunset: ... wishing everyone a nice weekend! (P.S.: Don't try to search for "Lego Brig". Some clever algorithm is sure that you meant "Lego brick". I hate programs that try to be intelligent...) Quote
Kolonialbeamter Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Oh, what a cutie, well done! Kudos on the rigging, looks good! And the sky is a really nice addition. If their destination bares any relation to the name... well, it's gonna be a hell of a journey... luckily you teamed up a crew of fearsome professionals... except maybe for the one with the obvious drinking problem... oh my... So, in a nutshell to sum up it's a beautiful little nutshell ship. It just lacks one very important feature - again!! Oh, and that rear sail is incorrect A nice weekend to you, too, Captain! KB Quote
ManInATopHat Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 The rear sail is incorrect. Feel bad. Of course, I'm only kidding. This is a lovely ship, nice job on the rigging. Cool flag and figurehead. Quote
Sebeus I Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Nice little ship, a brig usually has a taller second mast (the second mast taller than the foremast). It might classify as a square rigged ketch, (which would be nice because there aren't a lot of those around here). But I'm not complaining, I never do when I have a baguette in my hand . Nice presentation bassin . Quote
cullmancreations Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Very cool small ship. I like the colors and you did a good job with the rigging here Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 Thank you for your kind comments. I might consider changing the rear sail, but actually, I really wanted it to look THIS WAY. (There goes historical accuracy...) If their destination bares any relation to the name... well, it's gonna be a hell of a journey... Well, having seen the Golden Hinde in London I must say that in those days brave captains really sailed across the seven seas in nutshells small ships. Maybe they were ketches. I don't know. ("Ketch" actually does not sound too good. You know, like "you need to ketch up") Quote
Matthias Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 ohhh I have found myself :). I don´t get this post on 11th Oktober, but now I found it because of a link. I do like your brigg. I esspecelly love the superstructure in red. I had not thought, that it can look such good, with the grey mini hull. It reminds me on the cogs build by the Hanse. I, as a inhabitant of a Hanseatic town, must love it !!!! Here a pic of a "Hansekogge"(hanseatic cog) http://www.planet-wissen.de/politik_geschichte/wirtschaft_und_finanzen/hanse/img/hanse_kogge_interfoto_g.jpg Therefore I support a new name fot this beauti "Riga" Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted October 26, 2014 Author Posted October 26, 2014 Matthias, yes, the "India" could be turned into a "Hansekogge". Then they also wouldn't have to travel so far Quote
