Sir Brickalot Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) Hi everyone! I'm here with my take on the AAT. The official TLG version coming in 2015 looks awful IMO, so I decided to MOC my own. I plan to build this in real life as soon as I get all the pieces off Bricklink. Enjoy the pictures! MontyPython Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Lower part is very original, I really like it. But, are all those pieces available? Quote
TWP Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Nice take on the AAT. It's definitely a better scale like this than the new one! I like how you also managed to put in some interior. However, it feels a bit "messy"on the front shell; I looks much smoother in the movie, maybe you can find a way to improve this? Also, i feel that the part that sits on top of the shell is a bit to large; of what i remember the cabin sits more arrogantly on the back of the vehicle and is thinner and shorter too. Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 Thanks for your feedback, I'll work on it IRL. Quote
Mr Man Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Just a few things: The skirt could do with being a bit smother, the transitions are a bit jumpy, the main hull could do to be a bit narrower and more sloped, and the turret may need to be raised a bit more. Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Thank you, as I said I'll work on it IRL. Quote
hachiroku Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 For the sides, you could use one of this http://brickset.com/parts/6035405 instead of two http://brickset.com/parts/6042950 Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 (edited) It doesn't come in Tan. EDIT: Oh, wait, yes it does! Edited October 27, 2014 by Sir Brickalot Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Forgot to post this picture of wheels I incorperated onto the bottom of the model to give the impression it is hovering: AAT by Sir Brickalot, on Flickr Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 Little update, I only need 62 more parts until I can build this beaut! Considering that the model contains 417 pieces, I sourced 100 of them in my own collection, the rest I bought for reasonable prices on Bricklink and Brickowl! Super pumped! Quote
Azrielsc Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Can't wait to see this in the "brick", I mean in the flesh! :) Quote
Rishab N Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Nice work . Looking forward to the IRL build Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted November 15, 2014 Author Posted November 15, 2014 Just ordered the final parts for the AAT! Once the parts come, I'll get straight to building her! I had to improvise with certain parts when I learnt they didn't exist in Tan and/or Dark Tan. So some parts are in Medium Dark Flesh and Medium Dark Nougat. Hope it will still look ok! Quote
Cyberfounder Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I have the same thing. Sometimes you get carried away when building with LDD, to realize later that you don' have all the colors for your build. Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 It's built! It's finally built! Pictures will come very soon. It's so beautiful. Quote
arc Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Good to hear! I've been kinda lurking this thread for a while, so I'm looking forward to those pics! Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 (edited) Sorry to keep you guys waiting. Here are the pics! AAT by Sir Brickalot, on Flickr AAT by Sir Brickalot, on Flickr AAT by Sir Brickalot, on Flickr Soory about the pic quality on that last one. Anyways, really happy with this. Also, hachiroku, thanks for suggesting that part. It looks much better now! Hope you guys enjoy. Next stop, Flash Speeder! Edited November 25, 2014 by Sir Brickalot Quote
Manx Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Well done, it's really nice to finally see it in real shape. Great work! Quote
arc Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Have to say, this looks much better in bricks. I would've made the guns a little bit bigger, and maybe add launch tubes, but overall it's pretty good. Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted November 26, 2014 Author Posted November 26, 2014 Thanks guys! I would love to add launch tubes, but it is nearly impossible. Thanks again! Quote
