Legonardo Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Knaxx, son of some other dwarf who probably has a cooler and harder to pronounce name visits statues of his forefathers in search of wisdom and guidance in troubled times. And to admire the beards of old. ChIII category A, hope you enjoy! Quote
cablefoxley Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Very very nice. The statue is Iovely and well put together and I love the snow accents. Thought we'd being seeing alot of statues for this particular quest and you have set the bar high already, Excellent work. Quote
Gideon Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Great work! I didn't expect entries so soon but great to see that you are setting the bar high! Quote

Zerobricks Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 OMG, that grebbling is so crazy! What a magnificent creation. Quote
IenjoyLego89 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 That's an amazing statue! And so early in to the challenge :) Quote
Sir Gareth Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Excellent build, Legonardo! Between the snow and the statue itself, the detailing is amazing! As others have said, you certainly set the bar high Quote
Slegengr Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Nice work, Legonardo! I agree that you have set the bar high! I particularly like the armored skirt over the legs. The only things I am not sure about are the base and the beard. The base looks plenty blocky. The beard also seems blocky and does not stand out like I would like to see it. Because of the shadows and stone color, I think the beard seems to blend in with the skirt and face detailing enough that without context, this might look somewhat like a rock with bumps. It just seems a little bit hard to distinguish the beard from the other parts. I really like this build and hope to see more from you, Legonardo, though you are building for the wrong side . Quote
Scaevola Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Very nice build, very good parts usage and formation in the statue Quote
Legonardo Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 Thanks! Nice work, Legonardo! I agree that you have set the bar high! I particularly like the armored skirt over the legs. Ok, I agree with you on what you can see, this photo isn't nearly as striking as I woukd have liked it to be, the build is far more interesting in person, I suppose that's good as it was built more for the Auckland Lego show next weekend than it was for the internet the base is very blocky, and doesn't look too good in the photo but in real life it as a very nice juxtaposition with the statue which brings it out more, my other justification is that all my slpoes and plates are used up in other larger builds for the con ;) otherwise I would have had some angular boulders, I think I may rebuild the statue bigger with a full landscape or mountainside one day when I have all my bricks available for use. kabel Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Good to see you too back in the ring! And a really nice statue of course! Quote
Jorrith Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Awesome build! I really like all the weird angles in it, it must have been quite a challenge... Quote

mrcp6d Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Gorgeous sculpture LD! The facets really bring a heavy dose of Peter Jackson's dwarves. Quote
Legogal Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 It feels like I am morphing into a crooked person the longer I look at this unbelievable creation! Congrats on making us feel so crooked! Quote
Wardancer Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Very nice statue! It immediately reminded me of this statue I saw in Iceland: http://www.lilies-diary.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/islaendischer-heilige.jpg Quote
