TGBDZ Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) Hello guys! I decided to participate in the [TC5] Challenge, and for this challenge I'm using 8071 Bucket truck And my C model is a Wheeled excavator. I wonder why does the TLG always make tracked excavators instead of wheeled ones. Functions: Working Steering via the gear on the back Front grader can be raised up or down Feet on the back side can be lowered, and raised Rotation of the upper structure via the gear on the side Boom can be raised and lowered Bucket is fully operational too Here you can see that functions are controlled by yellow gears on the right side of the excavator. The brown gear at the back controls steering. Front grader and rear feet are controlled manually. Close up shot of the rear feet and a closer look of the bucket And the spare part photo - 55 parts left Video of functions can be found here (Older version of my model is seen in the video + sorry for the low quality) https://drive.google...w?usp=sharing Leave comments and tell me what you think. Good day everyone! Edited December 1, 2014 by TGBDZ Quote
Jim Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I'm not too fond of the original set, but WOW.....I love your C-model Quote
D3K Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Wow! That is a pretty damn good C-model! So different from the main model! How many parts were you left over with`? Quote

Boulderer Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 What a great build! I look forward to seeing it when you've added your finishing touches I've been looking at the 8071 since TC5 was announced, thinking that there has to be a great C-model in there. Obviously, there was but, I wasn't creative enough to see it Quote
Freekysch Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Wow, you made my want to buy the 8071 just to build this ! Waay better than the A or B model ! Congrats Quote
grum64 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 What a terrific build. I like it very much. Well done Quote
Zerobricks Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Great spirit of the competiton right there. It looks really great, I see you used a smillar mechanism as Lego uses to tilt the bucket. Quote
TGBDZ Posted October 28, 2014 Author Posted October 28, 2014 Good job! Need some better pictures though Thanks! That's just a WIP picture. In the end when I'll be totally happy with my C model I will take better pictures for the main entry topic Great C model!!!! Thanks! What a great build! Obviously, there was but, I wasn't creative enough to see it Thanks! Well, when I started to build this model I wasn't sure that I can pull it off, in the end it turned out better than expected. I guess you don't need to see the C model when you start building, you just need to know what do you want to build. Wow, you made my want to buy the 8071 just to build this ! Waay better than the A or B model ! Congrats Thanks for the kind words! What a terrific build. I like it very much. Well done Thanks! Great spirit of the competiton right there. It looks really great, I see you used a smillar mechanism as Lego uses to tilt the bucket. Thanks! Yeah, bucket mechanism is borrowed from original Lego sets, because I think that's the only viable solution without pneumatic or activator components. Quote
Tomik Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Cool idea! I'm surprised how many functions you've made with limited amount of gears. If you improve overall design it will be great alternative model. Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Very nice, packed with functions! It could use a bit more styling I think, but I suppose that is tough given the limited styling of the A-model Quote
jorgeopesi Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 This is an A model the original is the B, congratulations. Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 The original has to one of the lamest Technic sets released in the past few years, IMO. So yeah, great job making something like this out of it. Quote
jono rocky Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Great C model and better than the original set. Quote
TGBDZ Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 Thanks everyone for the kind words and comments! updated the photos so you can see all the good stuff closer and better Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 You know what they say: It ain't over, till the fat lady sings! And this machine is singing a victorious anthem. Well done man, so much function, and looks too, from otherwise not so interesting set. Congratulations! Quote
Anio Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 You used the inventory at its best ! So many fonctions with such a basic inventory... It is a very impressive model, nicely built, with great playability. Bravo ! Quote
jantjeuh Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Pack it up boys & girls, we have a winner. Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 First a very warm welcome here at EB TGBDZ and what a entry you made. This one had to be the A-Model and not the C. Keep up the good work  . Quote
