Posted November 1, 201410 yr Good night everyone, :classic: I wonder if the possibility of connecting this board to the NXT or EV3 :https://learn.adafruit.com/16-channel-pwm-servo-driver/overview A datasheet: http://www.adafruit.com/datasheets/PCA9685.pdf How can that be done? Anyone know of any books or recommend a site where I can study about it? Should I use to trigger 9g servos to operate the pneumatic valves remotely. Sorry for the poor English Thank you.
November 2, 201410 yr Can't give you an exact reference, but it looks possible. There are a lot of articles around describing how to interface NXT to i2c devices. Can't say for EV3. Good luck
November 2, 201410 yr Go here: http://www.dexterind...torms-together/ this will tell how to set up the Arduino and it has "Arduino As Slave Receiver" which is what you need. Then go here (where you site is): https://learn.adafru...driver/overview this will show you how to hook up the Adafruit 16 Channel. Follow to the end of "Hooking it Up" in his totorial and you should be good to go. This is for NXT. For EV3: http://www.dexterindustries.com/howto/connecting-ev3-arduino/ Edited November 2, 201410 yr by weavil
November 2, 201410 yr Author Our thanks that's amazing , I'll buy a arduino in order to use it. But it would be possible to connect it directly to the NXT by I2C? Thanks
November 2, 201410 yr http://www.amazon.com/gp/product.../dexteindus-20 and a breadboard or something similar.
November 2, 201410 yr Author Well I already started the valves, they were very small, I'm using a 9G servo. https://onedrive.liv...4335465F701!883 Now I just need to keep studying a little to put them under the control of NXT. I'll try to connect the PCA9685 directly to the NXT via I2C control , do not know if it'll work, but I think it goes Thanks for all the help
November 3, 201410 yr You need the Arduino or RaspberryPi or similar to direct the orders given by the NXT. Other wise the servos act out the same order.
November 3, 201410 yr You can also use these to connect straight. http://www.mindsensors.com/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=136 Have a look around the site, they have lots of accessories.

November 3, 201410 yr The NXT sends the signals out 1 cable. If no Arduino is in the middle, the PCA9685 will recieve the signals, but each servo will not know who does which sinal and all servos will act out each signal. I seen a few years ago someone made there own PCA9685 but they had put custom software on his NXT.(or it had an Arduino controler chip and his own NXT software).
November 3, 201410 yr Author Good evening, I found this site with this excellent content is in Spanish but it's easy to understand: http://www.nxtorm.es/digitales/sd-c-software.html Would it be possible to connect the card with the NXT directly through this block or that would be in the same C with RobotC? Weavil But if I send the data by putting the address and the reg, is that the board would not identify which servo'm wondering trigger? Thanks
November 4, 201410 yr Yes the modules are group or individually addressable. Looks like up to 64 on the one port
November 4, 201410 yr I did find this...http://letsmakerobots.com/robot/project/mindstorm-nxt-4-legs-walker
