Rishab N Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 It looks so awesome just like his other cars. I like the gear operated doors I also really like the rear it reminds me of a Nissan Skyline. It looks really nice More pics on his Brickshelf http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=549166 Quote

It looks really nice More pics on his Brickshelf http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=549166 It is really cool. Probably the greatest hotrod build from LEGO IMHO. Specially rims from 41999 set give this retro touch. (with 94.3 at the rear and no wings and roof structure could be like rattrod) Great model representing US (cult) car history from Paul as usual. bmollema Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Excellent design again....love the front and the doors.. Quote
Meatman Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Wow. This has a really nice pure Technic look to it. The 41999 wheels really make this pop. If you told me this was a new set coming form Lego, I would believe it. Cool gearbox idea too. Only flaw is too many red rubber axles which are probably impossible to find. Quote
Meatman Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) Cool vids. Edited November 4, 2014 by Meatman Quote
Rishab N Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 The suspension seems to be really good. Also sorry if you wanted to post this Paul. I just got excited seeing another great creation Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I don't think it is one of his best, there are too many big gaps which are not defined enough. The windscreen is a little odd looking,I think it needs to be less at a angle and a shade higher. Red is becoming the new yellow, someone needs to try to make a car in silver or orange and black instead of a plan white,red,black...etc. Quote
Meatman Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I think the windshield looks like it does because it is supposed to have that chopped look to it. I think if it were higher that it might look goofy. Or maybe I am wrong. Quote
zux Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 So, now red 19L soft axles will become rarity? What's next? Quote
Osuharding1 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 So, now red 19L soft axles will become rarity? What's next? Let's not forget the 12+ #3 red connectors on this bad boy as well. Quote
Appie Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Nice, I actually had a similar idea to build, but perhaps I should just build this one instead Quote
jantjeuh Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Very cool design by Crowkillers once again Quote

If anything the roof on mine is too high because this one has what is known as a "Chop Top" One of my goals was to keep this model light-weight but recognizable because I am doing a motorized alternate that I am hoping to get some decent performance out of... Let's not forget the 12+ #3 red connectors on this bad boy as well. Only 6.. The roof and rear end are #4... Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Perhaps could could offer a "bare motorized version" and a "filled-in" non-motorized version. I certainly prefer models to be filled in as much as possible. Quote
jantjeuh Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) I think it looks very good, even with all the 'holes'. It's something of an art to create such contouring using soft axles. Paul is very good at it. Edited November 5, 2014 by jantjeuh Quote
Paul Boratko Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I would rather a Technic model look like it is supposed to be "Technic" and not filled in with random parts... I wanted to make a model that was "Lego-Like" in both appearance and in it's functions.. Getting these flex axles to do what they are doing on this model was a real challenge in itself... If you preference is models that are filled in, then that is your choice, but redesigning this model to appease your liking isn't at the top of my priority list... Quote
jantjeuh Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I love cars like 8448 and 8466 that require you to fill in the holes with your own imagination :) The soft axles (or hoses) are just enough to dilineate the lines and curves of the models. Quote
Paul Boratko Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 One of the points of the "gaps" in Technic is to see what is going on inside and witness the mechanics moving within... I still think one of the nicest cars ever done was the 8145 599 GTB and it had gaps out the yin-yang... I also purposely left the roof open in this so that it was easy to get to the shifter... I had received complaints in the past that it was too hard to shift the gears in a few of my cars because of the roof... I made this model to really be played with... Quote

Yeah the 8145 was a masterpiece from an aesthetical point of view. Shame it was technically completely uninteresting though (same for 8653). Quote
