MiloNelsiano Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 When this contest was announced, I was really bummed out, as most of my minifigs are a long ways away from me, and I didn't think there was any way I would be able to enter. Eventually, I decided I would make a few figures anyway, just for fun. However, it was way too much fun, and I decided to BrickLink as much as possible (right before Christmas) to make it work. I really wanted to use flesh figures, but thought that yellow-toned stayed true to the CMF line. I also tried to keep the names generic, and the descriptions basic, as that to me is the spirit of the CMF line, as it allows the collector to be more creative with the figures and how they are used. I also tried to take advice others gave me on my last build, that I need to use a better background and/or edit the background. I edited the photo of the overall shot to try and get a feel for it, but I think I need to find some tutorials on how to do it better, as it took WAY too many hours for one picture. Anyway, I hope you enjoy! Criticism and comments are always welcome. Avalonia Vineyard Worker Works in a Vineyard, picking fruit. Always gives each tree a hug after. Albion Heavy Guard Only deployed for the most serious of threats. Assassin A master of disguises. No one would ever suspect a beautiful Avalonian Lady of being an assassin. Flag Bearer Has the great honor of carrying Avalonia's colors during battle. Nocturnus Headsman Some say Nocturnus uses Headsman for as small a crime as petty thievery. Gaoler One of several reasons to avoid imprisonment in Nocturnus. Pumpkin gruel is another. Butcher Because Nocturnus is Vegan free! And any kind of meat is fair game. Warlock Prince Can be killed by no mortal man. Mitgardia Border Sentry The most dedicated snowflake counter you'll find. Housewife Do: Compliment her beard. Do NOT: Mistake her for a man. Drummer Leads troops into battle (and the occasional dance). Deer Suit Guy Hunter Years of experience have taught him that with a proper disguise, the deer come right to him. Kaliphlin Dark Mage Expelled from the University for practicing forbidden magic. Princess Not an actual princess. Only thinks she is one because that's what Daddy calls her. Sell-Sword Protects whoever pays the most! Caravan Driver Rides his camel all over Historica if there's trade to be done. Quote
legoloco Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 You did a great job with limited resources. I love the weapons you made for your Nocturnus Headsman & Warlock Prince and I love your Housewife and Hunter figs. Great job on the Hunter's antlers! Quote
LordDan Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Nice job! The descriptions are funny, and I love te flail the warlock prince has! What is his armor piece from? Quote
Venkefedo Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Nice job! The descriptions are funny, and I love te flail the warlock prince has! What is his armor piece from? Fantasy trolls! Great job, but not enough dwarves Those antlers are crazy! Quote
mrcp6d Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Woah! The antlers on the Hunter are fantastic! Quote
kabel Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Your Mitgardian lady has a pretty nice SCARF! Quote
Kai NRG Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Fantastic work on those antlers! All around this is one of my favorite series yet, lots of nice piece combinations like on the rose and the club! Quote
Slegengr Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Great series, MiloNelsiano! The deer suit guy hunter is great, especially those antlers! That warlock prince is very nice, especially his flail! I was wondering if inspiration came from the LotR Witch King, then I read the description . The sell-sword looks great as well, particularly the shield! Quote
Garmadon Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Nice minifig combos, my favorites are the Headsman, Hunter and Caravan Driver Very nice work with that mace as well! Quote
SarahJoy Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Fun series! I like your CMF approach. Lots of great figs here -- hard to pick favorites -- but that Housewife is too funny! Quote
MiloNelsiano Posted December 5, 2014 Author Posted December 5, 2014 Thank you all for the kind words. I'm glad so many people like the Hunter, he was definitely one of my favorites while making these. You did a great job with limited resources. I love the weapons you made for your Nocturnus Headsman & Warlock Prince and I love your Housewife and Hunter figs. Great job on the Hunter's antlers! Thanks. Working with limited pieces is definitely frustrating. The positive I've found in it however, is that it forces you to look at the pieces you do have in different ways that you normally would, allowing you to come up with some unique combinations. Nice job! The descriptions are funny, and I love te flail the warlock prince has! What is his armor piece from? Thanks. As mentioned earlier, it was from one of the Fantasy Trolls. Fantasy trolls! Great job, but not enough dwarves Those antlers are crazy! I had a few ideas for some dwarves, but couldn't get them to come out quite right. I was actually trying to make a dwarf while playing with the Hun Warrior helmet when I realized the bones stuck in there quite nicely, which soon led to the antlers. Your Mitgardian lady has a pretty nice SCARF! This really made me laugh. I'm glad you liked it. Fantastic work on those antlers! All around this is one of my favorite series yet, lots of nice piece combinations like on the rose and the club! Glad it's a favorite! Great series, MiloNelsiano! The deer suit guy hunter is great, especially those antlers! That warlock prince is very nice, especially his flail! I was wondering if inspiration came from the LotR Witch King, then I read the description . The sell-sword looks great as well, particularly the shield! I was sure someone would catch it. I was originally going to call him the Warlock Prince of Ramgna, but thought the description would be enough of a hint. I really wish there was a helmet option for the Witch King. Nice minifig combos, my favorites are the Headsman, Hunter and Caravan Driver Very nice work with that mace as well! I'm glad you liked those, especially the Caravan Driver, just because he was one I was worried was too generic or plain. Fun series! I like your CMF approach. Lots of great figs here -- hard to pick favorites -- but that Housewife is too funny! I tried to keep it as similar to actual CMFs as I could (including the animal suit mascot), while also staying true to Historica. The Housewife idea came to me pretty early, but I wasn't sure I'd be able to make it look 1) natural, and 2) like a woman. It doesn't quite look completely natural when you look at her from the side, but it's really not bad. Quote
Robert8 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Drummer and Hunter are pretty good minifigures. Good series overall Quote
Jakorin Swiftsword Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Nice work! Love all the little details each fig has. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Nice description for the vineyard worker The headsman, gaoler, and the warlock prince are really neat figs, their weapons are quite creative The housewife actually looks pretty good with a beard The hunter is very clever too Quote
de Gothia Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Very nice combos and figs here! The headsman is my favourite! The pics don´t do the minifigs justice though! Dark and some of them have background problems... Quote
Petric_G Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Wow! The Mitgardians army favorit! Especialy the Hunter and Houswife! Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I like the hunter and the drummer - and I would not trust the assassin Quote
MiloNelsiano Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'm glad so many people like the hunter. It's making me consider entering him into the CCC figure contest. Very nice combos and figs here! The headsman is my favourite! The pics don´t do the minifigs justice though! Dark and some of them have background problems... It's strange because when I took the photos they didn't look as dark as they do here. When I look at the on my phone they look pretty nice. Natural lighting is difficult for me to use this time of year, but I took your advice and started using GIMP as you can see on the overall shot. I still need to learn how to use it better as cleaning up that one picture took way too long. Quote
Zilcho Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) Awesome! I'm struggling to decide whether the Kalaphlins or Mitgardians are my favourite... Edited December 17, 2014 by Zilcho Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Cool stuff, some great figs here! Quote
Mike S Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Great series! Some really awesome weapons here! The headsman is probably my favorite as he is a perfect combo all the way around! Quote
