MassEditor Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) On the Mitgardia/Avalonia border, a group of grim-looking dwarves discuss their plans to bring war to the Drow. "It took us long enough to find this cave, let's hope the elves haven't prepared something for us on the other side," said one dwarf, likely the youngest in the group. An older dwarf, probably the group's leader, studied the cave entrance and shook his head. "No one has stepped inside this hole in some time," he said. "The Drow carved out hundreds of these tunnels when they invaded Avalonia. As cleverly as they were hidden, I doubt the Avalonians found but a few of 'em." "Aye! Now we'll succeed where others have failed, and the Drow will flee to their holes for fear of the dwarves!" cried another. "They'll never suspect our trickery!" shouted a fourth dwarf. "Those stupid elves think our attack will come over the border, I want to see the look on their face when we go under them!" A white splat struck the dwarf's helmet, which rang faintly. The dwarf looked up to see a group of black birds resting in the trees overhead. "Bloody crows!" he shouted, tossing a stone at the flock. The other dwarfs laughed. "Bullseye!" one yelled. "That bird has better aim than you in the loo!" said another, laughing. "Enough," said the old dwarf. "We have to inform headquarters that we found the Drow tunnel. Then we'll march our entire army right to the Drows' doorsteps. By the time they know we're there, it'll be too late!" The dwarves turned and began marching back to their camp. They had barely left eyesight of the cave entrance before the bottles of meads were produced. Their celebration for having found the Drow tunnel could be heard throughout the valley. But the dwarves, unattuned as they are to the great variety in nature, had failed to pick up on one crucial point. These black birds were no ordinary crows - they were Avalonian ravens and allies to the elves. Although the elves could communicate with many simpler creatures, the ravens of Avalonia had always held a strong connection to the elven lords. As spies they had often provided vital information on the field of battle. And now, the information collected could possibly prevent open war between the dwarfs and elves. When the dwarves finally passed from eyesight, the ravens lifted and flew towards Avalonia to share their exploits. -------------------------------------------------------------------- A shot of the whole MOC and a couple, sans figs: This is my Challenge III, Category A build for the Men's Side. SarahJoy Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Great trees, great rockwork, love the base -- but my favorite part of this build is the color palette. The lime, red, and orange against the muted gray and brown is just striking. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Those colours are great! Awesome rock work, and the bird-spies are a brilliant idea. Quote
