Captain Braunsfeld Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) Hello everyone, this is my first participation in a challenge. The MOC is part of the dwarf quest - A: Ancestors and Heroes. Three dwarves are visiting the statue of famous Bofur Silveraxe. They pray for strength in the battles to come. (One of them is the commander of the attack boats I presented recently) This is also the first time I have tried some mosaic technique for the floor. This is why the result is so "modest" - other builders are already much more experienced in this sector. All the best for you for 2015! edit: Can someone correct the typo in the headline? Kai NRG Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Nice work, I do like the pedestal even if it seems a bit high for a dwarf! The floor mosaic, though simple, works pretty well too! Quote
kabel Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Very nice, your getting better and better! Now you just need to start working on getting your pics across a little better! Quote
Garmadon Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Great entry, CB, the mosaic floor is very nice and the statue and pedestal are excellent as well I like the inclusion as the flag too Quote
MassEditor Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 I like it! Nice pedestal design, the floor mosaics and fire pots are great touches too! The photography does a nice job of making this build shine. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 Thanks for your encouraging feedback! Nice work, I do like the pedestal even if it seems a bit high for a dwarf! Well, to me that is one key point in dwarven design: Everything gets a little higher than necessary. I actually started with just the top of the pedestal. And then I added the other two segments and I felt "the dwarf spirit"! Very nice, your getting better and better! Now you just need to start working on getting your pics across a little better! Thanks - hmm, I thought these pics were fine. I have chosen black as background in order to have a decent contrast to the silver helmet and axe. And, actually, on the first pic the silver axe really shines! (no photoshop trick) So, what should I do? MassEditor liked the photography.... Quote
TheRedViper Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Nice work, I like the floor mosaic and the statue itself is pretty cool. Quote
mrcp6d Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 To the pictures, the first one looks slightly overexposed, maybe because of the crazy-shiny battleaxe, but still quite a good picture in my opinion. Quote

MiloNelsiano Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I like this quite a bit. Simplistic but effective. And you do a very nice job on the floor mosaic. I've also been wanting to try my hand at one. Keep these coming! Quote
mccoyed Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 This is a deceptively simple build, but the presentation is aces. Great photography and contrast choices. Quote
Jorrith Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Excellent entry! With a pedestal this size, Silveraxe must have been a dwarf of great importance! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Very cool statue, the gold accents are great Excellent pillars and flag poles too Quote
Loves Houses Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Very well done! Looking forward to see the castle (?) / manor (?) this statue belongs to! Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Very well done! Looking forward to see the castle (?) / manor (?) this statue belongs to! Sorry, this is an entry for a challenge (dwarves visit a famous dwarf statue) and so there will be nothing more. Quote
de Gothia Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 You are really improving! This is very nice! i like the black background! Make the lbg bricks stand out even more! Quote
Slegengr Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Nice build, Captain Braunsfeld! I also like the simplicity of the build with an excellent presentation! The photography is great with the black contrasting the lighter colors in the build. The angles add a lot of character to the presentation as well, especially the shot from the viewpoint of a dwarf standing in front of the statue. The build details with the SNOT and cheese slopes are exquisite! Quote
MKJoshA Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Great job on that statue! I was wondering how many people would use the minifig size for their statue entries. I almost did myself. Quote
Petric_G Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 nice Build. I like the siver axe! Brick on! Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 Thank you guys, I am really happy about your positive feedback. Great job on that statue! I was wondering how many people would use the minifig size for their statue entries. I almost did myself. The alternative is to build a 30 foot high custom dwarf statue .... I had no idea how to do that Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Important dwarves need such a high pedestal! (changed the title ) Quote
SarahJoy Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Beautifully considered build! The pillars with bowls of flame, the high column, the light shining off the axe, the mosaic work -- all so nicely done and cohesive! Quote
