The dwarfs needed to be stopped from infiltrating Avalonia, and what better way to distract giving them permission to dig somewhere no dwarf had ever mined before? So I went to meet the dwarfs with a comrade and gave them permission to mine the ice-flows. "Gold, treasure, diamonds, the possibilities are endless!" exclaimed the dwarfs. "I was thinking more like cold wat- ouch!" said my companion (I elbowed him before he finished his thought). "Let's off to mine the ice-flows!" yelled the dwarfs, and ran off in a very excited state.

(I did take the precaution to appoint ice fishers to drag out the dwarfs if they took the bait... both figuratively and literally!)

I would like to receive UoP credits for:

Landscape Design - snow and ice

Hydrology - underwater

and Agriculture and Zoology - fishing

Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome! :classic:

I really like the rockwork on the cliff face, the sudden jut-outs are great and so is the cave entrance although I'd like to know how the dwarves managed to make it so large before realizing that they were digging into water! The hint of under-ice color is great, and those harpoons are simple but really nice. The double length fishing string is a great way to get over the shortness of a single one!

+1 for the UoP credits!

Nice build and all but I don't understand why the Dwarves are in freezing water? Wouldn't they just drown?

Actually under a cover of ice water is a comparatively nice temperature, from what I understand (of course cold enough that you couldn't last long, even if you didn't have to breathe) - but I think part of the idea is that the dwarves have been duped into flooding their own tunnels... (and would drown if it weren't for the fishermen - hopefully - dragging them out).

Hello Garmadon,

SNOT ice and rockwork are fine, also underwater plants will bend in the current.

However, from the point of view of physics, I am as puzzled as some of the others:

Underneath the ice you will find liquid water. Once the dwarves dig into the water, their tunnels would be flooded.

In cold winters you get a thicker ice cover, but that is about it.

So, sorry, the dwarf could not be standing there. :cry_sad:

Unless, you mean to say that the whole river is frozen, just that the lower ice is more crystal clear.

I think Kai answered your question

Haha that's great! And the story was really funny... Those Dwarve's must be stupid!

Ha, ha, thanks!

Thanks Captain! The dwarf is supposed to be in the water (the tunnel is flooded)! So that's why he needs to swim to the fishing line fast!

Hehe - I like the originality of your idea a lot! The seaweed technique in the back is kind of blowing my mind... I've been wanting to do an Aquazone MOC for a while now and I'll definitely have to keep that extension technique in mind!

A very unique approach and I love it! The ice and the tunnel are so good but the details to the river substrate is my eye candy here! Well done!

Thanks a lot mrcp6d! Yes, I really liked that extension technique, I just wish the rest of may vines weren't a few thousand miles away...

Thanks dG!

Great underwater landscape and I like the ice too. Not sure I'm fully getting he story though.

Thanks kabel! The basic idea is that Sir Winzer offered the dwarfs a grant to mine under the ice-flows if they would stop tunneling towards Avalonia... But of course there is nothing but cold water down there.

UoP DoH +1 for all claims.

Thanks gedren!

+1 on all subjects.

This is really very nicely done. Great idea, and very well executed.

Thanks for the credits, I'm glad you like it!

Nice idea and build, mrcp6d!

The underwater effect is well done! I also like the way the seaweed and plants are done using interesting techniques for attachment. The dwarves had better be well-blubbered and fast-swimming to survive this excursion! It is surprising that they do not seem to know that ice comes from water... .

Thanks Slegengr (though I'm not mrcp6d!) Well, you know there is snow and ice everywhere in Mitgardia, so they can't be blamed if they don't know the difference...

Excellent build! The rockwork and ice/snow are quite effective

The underwater section is what really grabs the eye, though, love the plants

Thanks SK, that was the hardest part!

Very nice, especially the rock and snow work. But what's best is the dwarf's facial expression! Also neat work on the spears!

Thanks a lot Ecc, that was my favorite as well!

OoC: Could you change the title for me so that it ends with "Mining the Ice-flows" (instead of "Mining the Ice-")?

Haha, very interesting build here. Great work on the ice cap and the underwater plants, the way they're bending with the current is a great touch. A very unique and creative entry!
