Jakorin Swiftsword Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 (edited) The key to peace with dwarves, no matter how short lived, starts and ends with gold and a good meal. After a long talk with the elf elder on how to avoid any unnecessary conflict with the dwarves, a decision was finally made. So, after freeing a very angry trio of dwarf brothers from a certain tower, they were promised a feast for their men, and gold for their treasuries, courtesy of the elf elder's people and the storage of Anvilon. The real one this time. Deep in the heart of Anvilon, the Storage Inn is packed to the brim with citizens and dwarves. An odd party, one might say, but nothing is ever too odd when war is averted for the time being. Humph! Look at this free loader! :P ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yep, and that's it! All the builds I can muster for this challenge. I'd say 5 ain't bad. Anyway, thanks for looking! Edited January 11, 2015 by Jakorin Swiftsword Quote
Jakorin Swiftsword Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 The inn looks stellar! Thanks Goliath! Quote
LordDan Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Great inn! I realy like the window design, and the chimney looks great :) Quote
mrcp6d Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Nice build. The only item not working for me is the smoke. White, trans-something, dark bley, etc. would have probably been better than using the same color as the chimney. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I agree about the smoke, but otherwise, an amazing build! Quote

But I used all the dark grey ones I had on the path. I agree about the smoke, but otherwise, an amazing build! Thanks! Quote
Slegengr Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Nice inn, Jakorin! The wall and window technique, the chimney, the roof, the landscape and path, all nice details to take in! Quote
Spader Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Nice! Wonderful stonework, and you make the Inn look very nice! Quote

mpoh98 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Fantastic creation, the window design is fantastic! lovely texturing on the landscape, and the stone chimney is well built. I agree that the smoke needs to be a different color, and maybe an interior, that would help greatly as well. Otherwise wonderful entry! Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Nice build. Great combination of advanced techniques. But what about the interior: "the Storage Inn is packed to the brim with citizens and dwarves"? Quote

mccoyed Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Great looking inn. The roof sitting on those studs makes me think there'd be gaps, but you can't see them from this angle. Are there gaps between the roof and the frame of the inn or did you fill them in somehow? Just curious because I have problems with that when doing eave-shaped roofs. Quote
Jorrith Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 What a nice inn! Definatly digging the snot base and chimney! Quote
Kai NRG Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Excellent work, the landscaping is really nice and the inn is great, good work with the stone sections especially! Only one tiny nitpick; there's a deal of space visible between the roof and the A portion of the house (composed of logs), with a few 1 stud width plates on this side of the roof's underside that could be minimized at least if not completely fixed. MassEditor Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Wonderful scene and story, I really love the inn's windows! The greebling on the chimney and lower stone work looks great too, but I wonder if a few more dark bley accents would have helped make it really stand out. Great work on the irregular base too! Really nice entry. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Lovely inn That window design is quite effective The whole building reminds me a lot of Simon S' builds, did he inspire this? The irregular base works nicely here, the SNOT edges are pretty neat Quote
