lomis Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I wanted to take a shot at recreating the old Bluecoats 6265 - Sabre Island but with modernized parts/techniques. So, I started with the new 70410 - Soldiers Outpost as a base and added to it. Left Front: Right Front: Thoughts? Quote
TenorPenny Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Nice replay. The naughty crab is especially neat. Quote
Matthias Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I would buy your Sabre Island. I only miss the big flag instead of the little one you used. Sabre Island was one of my first sets and it is still my favorite Lego set. Quote

Sabre Island was one of my first sets and it is still my favorite Lego set. Agreed on all points. I got Sabre Island as a kid along with the Caribbean Clipper as my first pirate sets. I loved (and still do) the soldiers. As far as the flag is concerned: I was going to add the big flag but wanted to be able to render the decoration using LDD to POV-Ray Converter. But only the smaller flag let's you map images on it in LDD. So, I sued that one. Quote
Mencot Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Really awesome remake you have made. Nice. Sabre island was my first pirate set also and an awesome set. How would this look beside the two official sets? Quote
GeneralWashington420 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Now THIS is what the new outpost should look like. Quote
Capn Frank Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 This modern version looks good. I'm really not a fan of the new palm trees. I think the new sets should come with something better. Quote
lomis Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 How would this look beside the two official sets? Sorry for the delay. Here you go: ... and here are some updated images on a single baseplate and with a rowboat - like the original 6265 - Sabre Island: Front: Back: Quote
Matthias Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 It suits perfect. I will try to build it, too. I think you will not have a instruction for your Moc?!? Quote

pretoriano Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I like it very much. It seems that Sabre Island has modernized. Well done, the inclusion of the boat is a plus that make it more "set". Quote
LittleJohn Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Excellent remake! You did a great job making it look like the others Quote
clm Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 I must compliment you, I really like the idea of a musket on a clip better then a stud shooter for the rowboat that TLG uses. Chris Quote
Kolonialbeamter Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Excellent reinterpretation of a classic, 10/10 would totally buy Quote
Mencot Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Sorry for the delay. Here you go: Thanks, that looks really awesome. This should had been the official set Quote
robjoh Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Sorry for the delay. Here you go: I must say that I love it. Really well done. Is it possible to ask for an update were you swap your sabre island with the soldiers outpost? So that you combine the Sabre island with the fort? Quote

Sigolf Brimabane Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Now expand Soldiers' Fort as well : P Quote
lomis Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 Now expand Soldiers' Fort as well : P That is easy said than done. I may try to do so, but that will have to wait... Quote
Kolonialbeamter Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 This looks great. You should be awarded the title 'Official Set Improver' One question regarding the rendering... could you please tell me where you found the templates for all the new accessories? Quote
robjoh Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Here you go: thanks, much better than the standard solution Quote
