Robert8 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 How would you divide the Castle themes and/or subthemes? From Knight's Kingdom 1 forward is easy... The tricky part comes before Knight's Kingdom I Quote
BrickJagger Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Okay....here we go..... Classic Castle The old rivalry: Crusaders, Black Falcons The expansion: Forestmen, Black Knights The newcomers:Wolfpack, Dragon Masters The reincarnations: Royal Knights, Dark Forest The times of change: Fright Knights, Ninja SUBTHEMES The Dark Age: KKI,KKII The beginning of the revitalization: Vikings The Silver Age: Fantasy Era, Kingdoms The filler: Castle 2013 The New Age: Fantasy Era II (FEII) Criticism Welcome. Maybe we should add a poll? Quote
SirBlake Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 This may not be as creative, but I just go by the bricklink categories. Quote
amechanicalmind Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Personally: Classic Age (78-83) Factions Age (Black Falcons through to Wolfpack) Lego Running Out of Ideas Age Fantasy Era Kingdoms Filler Age Quote
Ardelon Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Another way to look at it ais as "releases" by year, which is how I classify them, for the sake of simplicity. So, for example: 1984: Crusaders and Black Falcons 1992: Wolf Pack 1998: Ninja (wave 1) 1999: Ninja (wave 2) 2000: KK1 2004: KK2 (wave 1) 2007: Fantasy era (wave 1) 2010: Kingdoms (wave 1) 2013: Castle (Crown Lions and the other dudes) But I admit, it does get tricky with defining factions vs.subthemes. Durins Bane Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 eh is this thread needed? i thought all the ffactions had names, or at least the bricklink names. Quote
thetang22 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 eh is this thread needed? i thought all the ffactions had names, or at least the bricklink names. It was getting quite a bit of attention in the 2016 forum, so the topic was moved here. It's more than just identifying the names of factions, but rather trying to determine if there were any sets of faction vs faction themes, comparable to the themes of post 2000. Officially there were no sub themes for Castle, pre-2000, but if you analyze the history, there do seem some comparables to the themes of post-2000. That is what this discussion is about. Quote
