Edwin Korstanje Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) It's just over 3 years i came back at mine very long(30 years) of dark age and it's time to put all my creation's in one topic. The most of you know me as a ship builder and haved now makes and deliver more than over 350 ships(big scale models and sets), but i started after mine dark age with trucks. Here is first some small history from last 3 years. Mine daughter than 6 years old ask me at a toy store, dad i will that technic set and it was a white quad bike and whe booth liked it . For me where the studless liftarms complete new and after the build of the quad i whas sold . In the next couple of weeks i bought a couple of big sets and build them, but also the new building instructions ware to easy. After 1 month a started mine first moc, but it is to ugly to show . Than the next moc's follows quikly and the results getting better and better. In 2012 i meet Konarja at a Lowlug meeting and seen his ships and i where in . I know now what i wand to build, SHIPS. When i say to Konarja that i wand try to build a ship in technic he was laughing at said, you can't make ships from technic and for me the challange started . The first two ships where at the scale 1/40(minifig) and where quit ok but not good enough. After the two ships in scale 1/40(minifig) i have chanced the scale for technic in 1/30(Jackstone figs and they are ugly like hell) but for the technic huls it's works perfect . And now everything fals at the right place. The RPA 15 was mine first ship in the scale 1/30 and also mine first sold ship to the ship owner(Port of Rotterdam) and after this one every ship and sets i make is sold . The last 1,5 year i have so many request, that i can choose the projects and more than 50% of mine daily work is now with making and desinging models and sets. For the sets my great friend JunkstyleGio is making the instructions and renders and he has a great part in it for making the sets a succes  . In this short time i have already worked for 4 marked leaders in the world and everytime whe got so many  frome the company's and CEO, that is more worth than make some profit from it . The RPA 15 1/30 Scale 1e half 2013: 28000 parts. And one of the the RPA 15 Ship engine SL Gabon 1/30 Scale senond half 2013: 38000 parts. My first set for Damen Shipyard ASD 3212( building instructions from JunkstyleGio) 1e half 2014: 1154 parts and is great of a succes at there webshop that i working now on the 4 batch https://webshop.dame...o-boat-tug.html For Smit Towage i designed a smal scaled model 1/87 : 1900 parts. 2014 For the chief designer of Damen shipyard for a present the Damen PSV 3300 at a scale 1/155 waterline model in a display with around 6500 parts: 2014 For the Port of Rotterdam i got a ask for a smaller version of the RPA 15 and maked it in scale 1/80 with a SNOT hull and that was complete new for me. It's again a water line model in a display and around 7500 parts: 2014 Damen Shipyards ask me again to make a model for them, but this time the model only exist only on paper and renders and is a scaled model in 1/87 with 6500 parts and is the OST 5415: 2014 End for the last model for 2014 i haved worked again with Smit Lamnalco and their joind venture Afrik Delta Marine. The set is unique in every way and the boxes, building instructions and the ships have there own number and it's so exclusive that the ask me and Junkstylegio to fill up the boxes by us, to do it correctly This set contents 1374 parts. And next: For 2015 it's seems a very good LEGO year . For Damen Shipyard the 4 delivery batch for their set and almost ready for that. A new customer and the most inovatif self independently ship onwer in Towage and Salvage in the Netherlands, Iskes Towage and Salvage ask me for building their first Hybrid ASD 2810 TUG and wanted 10 ready build models at the scale 1/87 with no budget limet and this is for the smale scale and looks quit the same as some other sets, but make from top to bodum a new model of it and have almost 1700 parts and also with chrome details, crane, towing pins. The project it now getting shape and the ships growing every day . And the last is for the best. At the last week of november 2014, Konajra and me got a require from a shipyard to make a big scale model(Konajra) and for me make a set for the same ship, but the deadline was so thight(14-2-2015), that whe don't want make the order. Because the ask for Konajra, make a 1/40 scaled ship at the real metric sice 47 meters= 1.17 meter long and he always makes first a digtal model and than order the parts. For him it will cost more than a month at least to design a ship like this, than order the parts, and he haved two weeks the build it. For me in the beginning they ask that i make a set of the same ship for 360 sets and i have the same problem like Konajra and whe have give the project back to the yard. The project manager of the yard don't give it up with a fight , and ask me what it's real possible. Only 50 sets and a scale model a little smaller than 1/40 and started the real challenge, i have disigned and build a big scale model and also disigned a complete set and orderd all the parts and whas ready in 2 weeks before the deadline and for the instructions mine mate Junkstylegio haved created. And everything whas liverd from the begin to the ends in 2 months and is a record for us . Because the real ship and the models a real private maters i can't post photo's of it jet. Luky i got permission from the shipyard for the next nostarch book from Bricksonwheels and Legotrucks( Dennis and Dennis) http://www.nostarch....goscalemodeling and their you can find the big model in it later this year, I can only give you a teaser of the ship, but in the baloon you wil find the answer . Edwin Korstanje Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 Here is the only photo i can let show you from latest build( because it's not mine photo ) for the rest of it you must wait a the new Nostarch book . Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 wow , any technic part?. Thanks buddy, There are not many technic parts in it , but the rudders are small black technic panels and a lot of short 1/1/3 pins and the backbone is made of studded technic bricks . Because this ship is so smooth i have to change complete mine building style and the hull is made in complete SNOT systeem LEGO and the superstructure is build in studd up. The scale is this time build in 1/54 and the scice of windows from the superstructure where definete for the scale. Quote

Edwin Korstanje Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Today i got ready with the 10 ready build ships for ISKES Towage & Salvage and give the company owner a call that his ships where ready and he can't waited and must bring him directly the models. When he seen all his Bernardus ASD 2810 Hybrid Tugs together, the man looks so happy and got a big smile on his face . Because the owner was so pleased with his models that he give me a new project and he asked me to build compleet his fleet in LEGO at the same scale 1/87 and must build 12 of them, with 8 different models and 2 of it i must multyply. Also later on this year he wand a monster scale model of one of his ships in the scale 1/20 with Sbricks, lights, engines, trusters, winches(all working) and a complete internor, that i can complete go mad with this build  . Tonight i am a very hapy man . Greets Edwin Quote

TheNextLegoDesinger Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 nice boats. Do the technic boats float? Quote
TheNextLegoDesinger Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 shortly haha so no the air gets out right? Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 shortly haha so no the air gets out right? Some small models floats real good, but the bigger models are to bow heavy . Quote
Tommy Styrvoky Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 1/20.... That will be a monster, how do you plan to move something like that. The models could be made to float with bionicle containers for buoyancy. Quote
