Hello all,

Recently, I have been inspired to recreate the monsters of Gen 1 Bionicle in CCBS. Inspired by many creations around the web (with a few original creations), I present the Rahi of 2001, revamped! Hopefully, this will inspire other (much better MOCers than myself) to create the Rahi in CCBS as well...

EDIT: For some reason I'm getting a "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community." error when trying to post too many pics... Anyway, here are the main pics, the rest are on my photostream.

Muaka: The Great Cat

(Yes, I know the color scheme is that of a Kane-Ra... Sorry about that)

Wheelie time!

Nui-Rama: The Ravenous Fly

Nui-Jaga: Scorpion Striker

(Credit to BZP for the awesome eye design)

Manas: Killer Crab

Bonus: LOSS Revamp!

He retains the gripping function, but also has a six-stud shooter in his mouth. I don't recall exactly where I saw a LOSS MOC with the stud shooter, but it sure is a great idea!

Bonus #2: Rahkshi: Son of Shadows

Another BZP inspired MOC

That's it for today! I'll close with the statement that CCBS is awesome!

Now time to make Cahdok and Gahdok.....

Nice job! I like the way the orange shells look on the killer crab :classic:

Thanks! I dismembered all iterations of Nex and some iterations of Stringer to do so, though

The design and overall look of your LoSS looks magnificent! Do you have any instructions on how to build it per chance

Thank you! I can try to make instructions, but I'm going out of town tomorrow and won't be back till Saturday. I can see if I can get instructions out by next weekend at he latest... I'll try to take some pics with all the armor removed and see if you can reverse-engineer it from those right now though.

Awesome, especially the Nui Jaga, Rama, and Manas, those are my favs. And very nice and creative Rahkshi.

Thank you!

You've done a great job, but most of these really lack the "spirit" of the originals.

Thanks. I actually kind of agree; to me only the Tarakava really harkens back to he original... Any suggestions?

These are pretty cool though, I really like what you're going for with these. I do think, however, that you need to put more time into the "shaping" of the models, as the myriad pieces sort of jumble up the outline and make the MoC hard to decipher. You do a pretty good job with the Nui-Jaga and the Manas, but the Muaka, Tarakava, and Nui-Rama are kind of a mess of parts. Definitely try looking to the real world for inspiration for those, like big cats or various wasps. Gotta tip my hat to the Muaka's head though, that turned out great.

Also, more treads. It isn't 2001 Rahi without gratuitous treads.

Hey you based your Rahkshi design off of my BBC entry! I'm honored.

There is a difference between giving credit to a whole forum and the actual person who created it.

Sorry about not citing the specific user. I had saved the images when I had voted in the BBC entry, and I didn't want to sift through all the polls to find it again. Glad you recognized that it was inspired by your great MOC!

Thanks for the suggestions, I completely agree. These are my first CCBS MOCs, so I am still learning/exploring how to MOC with the system. Thanks for the great feedback!

Gratuitous treads...... now that gives me an idea to make a Rahi whose body is shaped around a tread.....

No problem! I gotta say these aren't too bad for a first try, keep working at it, and be sure to look at other MoCists for techniques and strategies they use! But, uh, perhaps be more careful about modeling your mocs around someone else's moc.

While I perhaps should refrain from self promoting, I try to put up cool build ideas on tumblr Factory, and the Piece Out Flickr group is a good pool of inspiration. Take this as you will, I'm just putting it out there, hoping it'll be useful. =)

Perhaps a Millipede or Centipede sort of deal?
